Cooling down the Gas Chromatographic column.
Cryogenic focusing on the first part of the GC-column.

Cryogenic cold traps focus the sample in a narrow band at the beginning of the column by cooling a short section of the column.
Cryo-focusing is used to narrow the width of a peak, as a result the signal to noise ratio and the detection limit are improved.

A cryogenic trap is designed for rapid cooling and efficient re-heating, ensuring reproducibility and optimum peak shape.
Cold traps are mainly used with the following injection techniques.
- On-Column injections- Enrichment (multiple injections)- Air and Gas Sampling- Purge and Trap- Multidimensional- Head Space Analysis- SPME- ITEX

Trapping temperature and heating rate are very important parameters for a Cryotrap.
