IN ORDER TO BILL OUR FUNDERS, WE MUST RECEIVE YOUR PAPERWORK

RESOLUTION!!!
Weather-Related Closings: Remember - Coordinators can cancel AMPES if, in
their discretion, the weather will present a
travel hazard. Coordinators are responsible
for notifying the self-advocates. Notify the
program director of any program cancellations
ASAP so it can be posted on Facebook. YOU

New Shamokin Coordinator: Unfortunately, Lian
Torres had to resign as coordinator of Shamokin
for personal reasons. However, we were
fortunate to find a quick replacement. Carina
Losell will be starting as Shamokin’s new
coordinator after the new year. Carina is
employed by Sentry Servicers as direct support
staff. Carina has assisted with STEP on many
occasions and is great with the kids. Her patience, kindness, compassion, and
experience as direct care staff will be an asset to AMPES.

Financial Wellness Month: Work on budgeting activities or do a grocery flyer
scavenger hunt. Don’t hesitate to ask me for ideas!
Hobby Month: Have the groups talk about their hobbies like a show-and-tell
Get Organized Month
Soup Month: Make soup (you will probably have to do some of the prep work at
home)
Hot Tea Month: Sample different herbal teas
Oatmeal Month: Make instant oatmeal and have different toppings available
Self-Love Month: See ideas below
Thank You Month: Write thank you notes to your site
Unusual Observances in January:
Jan. 11 – Cigarettes are Hazardous to Your Health Month
Jan. 13 – Follow Your Dreams Day
Jan. 15 – Hat Day (everyone could wear a crazy hat) or buy cheap plastic hats
(maybe clearance New Year’s hats and decorate them)
Jan. 18: Winnie The Pooh Day – see attached trivia game and activities
Page 5
Some activity suggestions for January for Follow Your Dreams Day:
I’m not sure what was used for the ring in the first photo, but the 2nd photo uses an
embroidery hoop.
Button Hot Air Balloon on a flat canvas To make this craft extra fun, print out
a photo of the participants and laminate
it to put in the cup. I can print and
laminate photos for you.
Page 6
Textured Hot Air Balloon: To make the textured
hot air balloon craft extra special, take photos of
your participants and laminate them. Have the
participants put themselves in the balloon basket.
(I can print and laminate the photos for you).
Some activity suggestions for January for
Self-Love Month:
Other activities for self-love:
• Make a gratitude list
• Do light yoga (our director, Robert Roush, is a yoga instructor)
• Learn a meditation
• Journal – see attached self-love journal prompts
• Watch an inspirational movie (yes to a movie in this case) or read
inspirational stories. Pinterest has a lot of short inspirational stories.
Search under “Faith in Humanity Restored”.
• Make a list of what you like about yourself
• Write an empowering note to yourself and hang it on your mirror
I have attached a snowman selfie sheet and a
sheet with a hat and scarf. As you can see, you
would need to take photos of the participants (I
can print them for you) and supply buttons and
cotton. Decorations for the hat are optional.
Inexpensive and fun!
WHO SAYS SNOWMEN ARE JUST FOR
