The show was held over Friday 12th May and Saturday 13th May. The venue for the show was again the Cooroora Woodworkers clubhouse in the Lowermill Precinct in Cooroy. While final figures were not available it is already apparent that the show was a success. The quality of the competition entries was very good, the numbers of visitors was higher than last year and raffle ticket sales exceeded all expectations. The show was officially opened by Noosa Deputy Mayor Frank Wilkie. He reiterated his remarks of last year in praising the very high quality of the entries in the various competitions. Club president Dennis Donnelly thanked Frank and presented him with a turned bowl as a memento. The meeting took place in the clubhouse where Ian Robertson the retiring chairman thanked the committee members for their dedicated work which made the show such a great success. He mentioned particularly Aline Briggs for her sterling work selling raffle tickets. Charlie Cobb for running the IGA and Cooroy Outdoor raffles. John Gygar for organising the show cafe as well and a sales tent of items made by members and donated to the club both ventures were successful. The timber milling team for the milling display and sales. Alex Findlay, Alan Warner, John Kennedy and John Gygar for making the raffle prizes. Maureen Bowden, Bob Chaplin, Peter Bradford and Dennis Donnelly for their demonstrations of woodwork. Richard Roe, Peter Bradford, John Kennedy and Ailene McPhee for their immense efforts in running the competitions. he 2017 Annual General Meeting of the Cooroora Woodworkers Club Inc. will be held at theClubhouse, 8 Lower Mill Road , Cooroy on Saturday 10 June 2017 immediately following the JuneGeneral Meeting commencing at 9:00 a.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

At the AGM “all members of the Management Committee for the time being shall retire fromoffice, but shall be eligible upon nomination for re­election”.

Any financial member may nominate for any Management Committee position. Nominationforms are available near the ‘ Sign ­In Register ‘ [ next to entrance to the clubhouse] or from theSecretary .

Completed forms should be lodged with the Secretary before the meeting, either handed directlyto the Secretary or placed in the Secretary‘s file drawer slot, just inside the Clubhouse Office. Ifinsufficient candidates are nominated beforehand, nominations may be taken from the floor of themeeting.

John Sargaison for getting our show message into the internet social sites as well as arranging aradio station interview. Jim Pound for the show brochure and the editorials in local newspapers.

Members such as John Sturtz who took on so many jobs ­ too many to list. Plus all the membersand their wives who put out the signs, erected the marquees, raised the banners, helped out in the cafe,

on the stalls, helped to sell raffle tickets and manned the box office and then onSaturday afternoon took it all down and put everything away until next year.

Ian recorded a number of suggestions to pass onto the next show committee.The committee applauded Ian for his fine work as chairman.

Aline Briggs whoworked extremely hardto sell an enormous

number of raffle tickets and show bags had thesatisfaction of drawing the prize winning tickets.Her sales effort took her to 12 sites around Noosashire over a period of nearly three months. Thewinner of the Victorian Wooden Rocking Horsewas Chris Baines of Noosa. Chris and herhusband Jack were so happy to win the horse thatthey made adonation to ourclub. They intendto take the horse toBrisbane wherethey see itproviding manyyears of enjoymentto theirgrandchildren.

The club has introduced a scheme of dailyworkshop duty officers (WDO) with the aim ofimproving safety and reducing damage tomachinery. No one should use the workshopunless a WDO is present. And there must alwaysbe two members present including the WDO.
