3. WWF-Romania (WWF)

4. Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA)

Main activities :

• Elaboration of mapping and assessment frameworks and

procedures as basis to perform MAES in Romania

• Data management and data analysis for the MAES process

• Mapping and biophysical assessment of selected ecosystems

- Provide access to a set of tools allowing simplified as well as

complex analysis in by means of standard GIS interface and

predefined reports;

- Use thematic and reference data published as web services (OGC

Compliant) by mandated organizations participating in the

National SDI;

- Core information represented by the Country Location and

Assessment Maps developed in the N4D project

- Architecture and technology enabling further extension and

scaling given considering existing and future categories of users

Draft conclusions

- The link between science and policy should be strengthened and more

support provided to policy-relevant research.

- Data sharing capabilities need to be enhanced in Europe and in

particular, data coming from long-term ecological research sites.

- Several conceptual issues remain unresolved and require dedicated

action :

- the typology of marine ecosystems of Black Sea - which not have a

direct correspondence in EUNIS typology

- the role of agro-ecosystems in delivering provisioning ecosystem

services in relation to energy inputs that are required to harvest

agricultural products.
