All entries must be intended for homedecoration, and their realised formsshould feature prominent use of copperor its alloys (such as brass, bronze, cu-pronickel, etc.).

The objects designed must be for usein the home (items for of ces, shops,schools, hospitals, and public buil-dings are also acceptable) and could

t one of these example categories:

Furniture (chairs, tables, trolleys, cof-fee tables, bookcases);Kitchen utensils (pots, food warmers,cookie cutters, glasses, etc.);Complementary furniture (coat han-gers, magazine racks, dividers, pictureframes, vases);Coverings and decorations (wall cove-rings, oors, dividing walls, screens,doors);Functional elements (radiators, lamps,lights, switches);Technical elements (handles, hand rails,taps, plaques).

Whilst it is possible to integrate othermaterials into the design, copper orcopper alloys must form a major andsigni cant part of it.

The project must showcase the techni-cal, aesthetic and expressive potentialof copper and its alloys, and it shouldbe suitable for mass production.Technological innovations related tothe production cycle of the object willalso be considered during judging.

The competition is open to all thoseborn after September 30th 1974 and isdivided into two categories:

Designer, architect, individual or groupas well as graduated employees wor-king in these elds;Individual student, or group, enrolled ina higher education school of graphics,interior decorating, interior design, afaculty of architecture or interior design,

charge whatsoever, to display anysubmitted projects during the exhibitionsand events connected with the adverti-sing of the competition, to use theprojects in any publication the organisersdeem necessary and/or appropriate, andto use them for advertising purposes onthe internet.

Personal data submitted together withthe projects will be processed by the Ita-lian Copper Institute and Copyright forthe sole purpose of permitting analysisand evaluation of the projects. They maybe disclosed to third party suppliers onlyfor purposes strictly connected to thecompetition, and divulged only in connec-tion with articles for publication in maga-zines on paper or in electronic format.

In accordance with European privacy rules(protection of individuals or other subjectswith regard to the treatment of personaldata) we request explicit authorisation(Form A1) from all participants for theprocessing of their personal data. Saidauthorisation is necessary in order to par-ticipate in the competition.

The IIR is not bound to disclose the rea-son for any exclusions made by the jury.

The following prizes may be awarded:

Designers and Architects1st Prize: € 4,0002nd Prize: € 2,500

Student CategoryPrize: € 1,500

A special plaque will be awardedto the school whose course is con-sidered to have most effectivelyaddressed the competition.

The jury, in addition to the above listedprizes, may assign ex-aequo prizesand special mentions based on its nal

judgement.

The location and the date of the AwardCeremony are to be con rmed.

The competition results will be publi-shed through the IIR website and viapress releases sent to magazines andspecialist websites.

The project authors are solely respon-sible for any copyright or intellectualproperty violation.

The intellectual property rights ofprojects submitted by individuals em-ployed by a third party are regulated bytheir respective working contracts.In cases of clear violation, IIR will im-mediately exclude the project from thecompetition.The project authors remain the soleowners of the intellectual propertyrights concerning their projects.The authors, by participating in thecompetition, authorise IIR, with no

undertaking doctorates, masters orequivalent courses, coordinated by atleast one course teacher.

Projects must be received no later thanSeptember 30th 2014 (the postmarkmay be used as proof).

Participation in the competition is freeof charge.

The submission of a project by the clo-sing date is considered to be a requestto participate in the competition.

Technical documentation specifyingthe technological motivations for the

use of copper or its alloys must be in-cluded for all projects. This should be amaximum of 2000 characters, and in -clude the project name or description.All charges for sending submissionswill be borne by the participants.No material sent will be returned.

Copyright will respond to candidates byemail upon receipt of the project, andwill then prepare a chronological list ofall entries and forward the projects – inan anonymous form – to the jury.

Projects must be submitted on CD orDVD and les must have the followingcharacteristics:Drawings and photos in Jpeg format(in high-de nition - 300 dpi - and a mi -nimum size of 21x29.7 cm), which canbe read by the most common softwarein a Windows® or Mac® environment;Technical report in PDF format;The projects (including any tables orpictures) should be distinguished by aname or description.

If the project does not meet the requi-red criteria, it will not be accepted.

Projects in development, not yet beingmarketed as of the closing date of Sep-tember 30th 2014 may also be submitted.

All participants, individual or group,must enclose the following documenta-tion: A copy of a valid identity card or passport;Signed authorisation for the processingof personal data (see Form A1, availa-ble on www.copperalliance.it);The e-mail address for receipt con rma -tion and any further communications.

The documents should be sent in a se-aled envelope with the name, or iden-tifying description, and the words “per-sonal data” on the outside (see detailedinstructions for shipping).

In addition to the previously-mentionedrequirements, inside the sealed enve-lope each student must insert a certi -cation that they are currently enrolledon a relevant course, and written con-

rmation from a course (or head) tea -cher that they served as the project co-ordinator (see Form A2, available onwww.copperalliance.it).

The judging panel will consist of threeprofessionals in the eld of architectureand design:

The projects will be examined in ananonymous form.

The jury will meet at the IIR headquarters,or another location deemed appropriate.It will keep minutes of its proceedingsand its decisions are to be considered
