  • S P R I N G 2 0 1 9Introducing our 2019Future Homeowners!

    P H O T O B Y A R T I N R . S M I T H

Jessica, Patrick, and Paige! This hardworking young family is ready and eager to begin building their new home in Harrisburg! They have already earned most of their Sweat Equity hours, even while working and attending school full time. They have completed several educational programs geared toward home ownership, purchasing their first home, budgeting and finance. Jessica and Patrick continue to help with office duties, ReStore work, maintenance tasks and landscape chores while they wait for construction to begin on their future home in Harrisburg this April

Jessica and Patrick with their daughter, Paige

Billy, Tabi, Carmen, Tragin and Raymond! These future homeowners are just beginning their partnership with Junction City /Harrisburg/Monroe Habitat for Humanity, and are off to a great start! Billy and Tabi have met with their family advocate, Deanna, and will begin their financial classes in March. The family has already started earning Sweat Equity hours by volunteering in the ReStore and working on the next job site. Billy, Tabi and their children enjoy camping, hunting and playing games as a family, and are excited to be a part of the Habitat community!

Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe Habitat for Humanity is committed to serving the hard working families in the tri-county area. To qualify for our Homeownership Program, applicants must have a steady, verifiable source of income and demonstrate financial responsibility. The applicant's income and financial health is expected to remain stable or improve at the time of home purchase. This demonstrates that the applicant will afford both a home mortgage plus the ability to maintain the home. For households of 4 people or more, the minimum is 40% of area median income (AMI), currently $1990 per month. An applicant's total gross income must be no more than 70% of area median income. Household income includes all income from individuals 18 years or older who contribute to the overall financial status of a household. Applicants must have good or improving credit history with a debt-to-income ratio to assure that the applicants are able to afford their debt payments as well as housing expenses. JCHM Habitat for Humanity will run a credit report 3 times prior to home purchase. *These income requirements are subject to periodic and/or annual revision.*

I am very excited and honored to be serving as the Board President for a second term on the Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. Our affiliate has overcome so much since my first involvement, 4 years ago. I am looking forward to all the ways in which we can dig deeper and accomplish our goals this coming year. We are very excited to introduce the new board members and volunteers who have joined us this year. We have a great team that is ready to assist our affiliate with new ideas and ways to improve on what we have all built together. They bring with them many years of experience and many different backgrounds. I hope everyone will have the chance to meet them at our annual fundraisers. Our 5th annual Hope Breakfast will be on April 24th at Shadow Hills from 7:30-8:30 am, please mark your calendars! So far it’s shaping up to be a great event and we have been able to double our donations from its previous years! This breakfast is a great way to learn more about Habitat for Humanity in our community and it is a wonderful representation of all the many people who care passionately about our cause. The Blues Build is our biggest fundraiser of the year and has been scheduled for July 21, 2019 at Bennett Vineyards. We have some great talent booked and are very much looking forward to coming together as a community to rally around our cause. This is always one of the greatest times of the year and I am looking forward to seeing you all there! It is so rewarding to be a part of a community where people care so much about Habitat for Humanity and our mission. We could not do it without any of you. Thank you.

Manager's Message Inventory changes often at Habitat ReStores because much of the merchandise for sale comes from donations; what is for sale is based on what is donated. If you have been cleaning out your garage or are looking to replace your gently used furniture, Habitat ReStore may be the place for you to donate the items you are no longer using. After donating at Habitat ReStore, stick around to do a little shopping. Just as your donations provide the items that stores sell, your purchases provide the proceeds that go to provide decent places to live. Habitat ReStores also are always looking for great volunteers to help in this process. Give us a call to see how you can help by shopping, donating and volunteering.

Join the ReStore CommitteeAre you interested in The ReStore? Wanting to make a difference in your community? Join the ReStore Committee! We’re currently planning our 2nd anniversary!
