Open the notes icon

Copying SPSS Output to Word

SPSS writes the syntaxfor the commands youselect from the menusinto the "Notes" sectionof the output. Double

click on the 'ClosedBook' notes icon tomake the notes visible.Double clicking on anicon toggles it to bevisible or hidden.

Select the "Notes" text box


The Notes text boxcontaining the syntax isnow visible in the outputviewer. To copy theoutput to Word, we first

select the text box byclicking on it. When anSPSS output item isselected, a red arrowpoints to it.

What happens if you use "Copy" instead of"Copy Objects" in SPSS


If you use the Copy command in SPSSinstead of the Copy Objects command,the SPSS output will be copied as a texttable and look like the following.

To correct the problem, delete this outputand copy the objects from SPSS again.

The SPSS graphic pasted into Word


The SPSS output is now pastedinto Word as a picture. Thepicture is reduced in size. We canchange the size of the picture withthe Word "Format picture"command.

Changing the size of the picture


Right click on thegraphic andselect FormatPicture from thepopup contextmenu.

The pasted graphic picturemay be too large to view inthe Word document. If so,we can shrink the size of thepicture.

Select the Size tab in the dialog box


In the Format Picture dialog

box, click on the Size tab tochange the pictures size.

Specifying the desired size of the picture


Click on the down arrow onthe Height spinner to decreasethe size of the picture. If youleave the Lock aspect ratiocheckbox marked, the Widthspinner be changed at thesame time.

When you have selectedthe size you want, clickon the OK button to closethe dialog.
