“Inside the PC” Vocabulary Terms


“Inside the Computer” Terms

The next slides will present three clues for one of the vocabulary terms. They will appear one at a time in intervals of 5 seconds.

As soon as you know what the term the clues are defining, call out the term.

It goes in expansion slots.

Data is lost when main power is turned off.

Common types are keyboard and mouse.

Speed is measured in units called megahertz.

Heart of the computer.

Allows parts to communicate with each other.

Motherboard

Input and output device.

Stores program and data files.

Metallic device with prongs.

Mounted over the CPU.

Draws heat away from the CPU.

Heat Sink

Has the appearance of a ribbon.

Connects the hard drive to the motherboard.

Stands for Integrated Device Electronics.

IDE cable

A circuit board.

Could be PCI or AGP.

Used for Video and Sound.
