CLASSES I & II

Activity based on the core topic :

Class 1 :

Topic : Food

Activity 1 : ‘How food affects us : Food helps us to

grow.’

The children made handprints on paper. They then

compared the handprints with those of their family

members to understand the meaning of ‘growth’ .

Activity 2 : ‘Importance of Food/ Meals : Food gives us energy to work

and play’.

Preparing sandwich for breakfast :

This class activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. They

used ingredients like grated/ slices of cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, ketch-

up, coriander chutney etc. on slices of bread to prepare healthy sand-

wiches for their breakfast. The benefits of these ingredients were also

discussed.

Class 2 :

Topic : Plants Around Us

Slogan Writing: ‘Save Paper, Save Trees, Save The World’

To create awareness among the children about saving trees for a better

tomorrow, the children wrote slogans on cut-outs of leaves and pasted

them on chart papers. They also grew plants in small pots with the aim to

grow more trees for a better tomorrow.

EVS Activity: An interesting and informative speaking skill activity was held

for the children of class 2. Each child brought stick puppets of one wild ani-

mal and spoke amazing facts about it. This activity gave an insight about less-

er known facts about animals and proved to be an enriching learning experi-

ence for children.

Events

Children’s Day :

Each child was gifted a box of crayons.

A video on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was also

shown to the children.

CLASSES I & II

Special Assembly

Topic : Gurupurab

A Special Assembly on ‘Gurupurab’ was show-

cased by the children of classes 1-D and 1-E. This

festival celebrates the birth anniversary of Guru

Nanak Dev Ji, who shaped the beliefs of the Sikh

Community.

The children depicted the early morning proces-

sion ‘The Prabhat Pheri’, ‘The Nagar Kirtan’

procession led by the Punj Pyaras (Five Beloved

Ones) was headed by the devotees carrying the

Sikh Flag known as the ‘Nishan Sahib’. Special

community lunch called the ‘Langar’ was beauti-

fully depicted through an enactment . Shabads were

sung to explain Gurubanis.

Wall Journal

Topic : Stories of Sikh Gurus. The children of classes 1

D and 1 E put up an informative wall journal on the dif-

ferent incidents from the life of the Ten Sikh Gurus for

us to learn and imbibe their great qualities.

Classes 3, 4 & 5

Trips:

74 students of class 5 accompanied by 9 teachers went on an overnight educational trip to Kyari Village

near Jim Corbett Park, Uttarakhand, where they gained insight into the local flora and fauna. It was also

a lesson in being independent and self reliant.

Books being a window to the world, classes 3, 4 &

5 observed 27th and 28th as Book Days. The chil-

dren read a story books. Based on the stories

read, the students had class discussions and ac-

tivities like making Book Covers and Book

Marks.

A story narration session was also held by

Ms. Manisha Gupta from Scholastic Publishing

Special Assembly: The students of class

4F put up a special assembly on the

‘Nongkrem Dance Festival of Meghala-

ya’. The assembly showcased the pur-

pose of the festival- seeking blessings of

Goddess ‘Ka Blei Synshai’ for a good

harvest and welfare of the people.

Workshop: Publishing House ‘Orient Blackswan’ had

organized a workshop for teachers. Dr. Radha Singh ,

the resource person discussed the challenges faced by

the English teachers and how to make teaching of Eng-

lish interesting for the students. Four teachers attended

the same.

The First ‘ Principals Meet’ under Sarala Birla Group of

Schools was organised by BVN on 10.11.17. The Principals spoke

very highly about the school, staff and the aesthetically done up

display boards . The event was memorable.

In an Inter School Competition to celebrate World Space Week 2017, Ananya Trivedi of class 2A and Devansh Bhasin of 3F got All India 2nd rank out of 2000 entries.

Harshita Singh 4C, Shaurya Giri 4D and Diya 5B got first position in the group category and Rohan Rathee of 4G got second position in the solo event at the Origami Competition organised by “The Japan Foundation”,

Embassy of Japan.
