THE PASTORS PAGE - November Since our last newsletter, many things have occurred in our

church area and within our own church family.

The recent hurricane and the following floods have devastated much of the

area and many folks are still hurting and in need. Through it all we have seen the heart of Gods people

be consistent in love and service to others. Many from our own church family have given and are still

giving of their time and resources to assist those in need. Our tear-out teams, chain-saw teams and the

feeding teams that helped cook and feed the volunteers and displaced folks during the hurricane and

flood have all done exceedingly and abundantly. Let us be reminded, “And let us not be weary in well

doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do

good unto all.

It is with great thankfulness and a sense of appreciation for you as a church that I commend

each of you for your efforts no matter if they be acknowledged or unsung, God knows what you have

sacrificed for Him and His.

I feel that I would be remiss if I did not mention the utmost importance of the elections this

month. Please prayerfully consider supporting those candidates that espouse Christian morals and

values and especially those that affirm life for the unborn. It has been said that the only thing required

for evil to prevail is for God’s people to do nothing. That means if we do not pray, do not become

informed of the issues and the stand of the candidates and then do not vote, we have in effect done

the one thing for evil to overtake us and that is NOTHING.

As a result of the aforementioned storms, floods, and related task to recovery, many of our

projects and ministry efforts had to take a second seat for a time. However, we are ready to resume

those tasks for the glory of the Lord.

The building project committee will be meeting with finance group to make plans on

appropriate ways for acquiring funds for the projected building of our new sanctuary space. We have

been getting some information together for this meeting.

The finance group will also be meeting to outline a budget for the coming year that will be

presented to the church for vote at a later date and prior to the New Year. All ministry teams that

have budgets or financial needs for the coming year need to present those request to the budget team

as quickly as possible.

Please see Brother Sean Knowles for a back pack to stuff for our “Appalachian Christmas

Outreach” a needed items list has been previously prepared and inserted in a prior bulletin.

Please see Amy Peterson for details about our annual shoe box ministry of Samaritans Purse.

Our Church will again be the collection center for the region and we will need volunteers to man the

facility during those times. Please contact Amy Peterson and tell her that you will be willing to help.

We have many seasonal opportunities this month for mission services. On the morning of

November 11th, we will have a special service honoring our veterans. Please come and support the

church and give a word of appreciation to our veterans that help defend our freedoms and way of life.

Also, that evening, we shall have a speaker from the Baptist Children’s Homes to come and give us a

presentation. The following Sunday AM, we will receive a special offering for the BCH of NC. Please

prepare to give and give generously to that special mission.

Thanksgiving will be November the 22nd

and the office will be closed both Thursday and Friday

of that week. We will have a special remembrance and time of giving thanks at the evening service of

November 18th the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving.

Hanging of the Green and the Children’s play will be presented during the evening service of

November 25th.

All of our existing ministries of “Meet me at the Bridge” and our Philippines Children Ministry

are doing well with good involvement. Sister Allison Cavenaugh is the contact for MMATB and Bother

Earl Brinkley is our contact for PCM. Crossover Ministry will resume outreach efforts with the gym

being a center of influence. If you have question or would like to help, please contact Brother Tony

Horne.

Each Sunday morning you are welcome to the altar to pray as we begin our worship. I thank

you for the reverence that you are showing during that time and encourage you to engage in prayer as

well. It may be at the altar or in your seat, but please pray.

PLEASE REMEMBER: In order for events and announcements to be placed on the overhead, in

the bulletin and in the newsletter, the office has to have those items in a timely fashion.

As we begin our 5th year together, I humbly thank each of you for your love and support. It is a

great honor to be your pastor and friend. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to serve Him by

serving you.

In Christ,

Philip Eakins, Pastor
