Deaf signing

Jessica Bentley-Sassaman and Gina DiFiore-Ridolph generously offer their services as interpreters for the deaf at our 9am Sunday Celebration. If you need this

service, please try to sit in the first row on the right side of the multi-purpose room as Jessica and Gina sign the lyrics to our worship music and the sermons.

Online giving

We’ve all been there. The ushers walk to the front of the room and you begin the frantic search of your pockets looking for your offering envelope,

only to remember it’s still sitting on the kitchen table. For-get the stress and check out Cornerstone’s online giving. This secure platform allows you to safely use your credit card, debit card, or a bank transfer to give your offering as you normally would. All donations are tracked and we provide a chartiable giving receipt to you at the end of the year, or you can access your account anytime to track your giving. Visit cccduncannon.com/donate for more information or to get started.

Celebrate • Connect • ReachFun stuff in the Nursery and Toddler rooms

We’re happy to introduce a new program for both the Nursery and Toddlers at church. For each service there will now be a Bible story, prayer

and a song as well as play time. The Toddler Room will also have an activity page to correspond with their lesson to take home and review. We’re now using Breeze for check in which is quick and easy. All of our volunteers have had background checks and are excellent in providing great care and training for the children. We are in need of a few more Christian CDs for this age group since they love to sing and it’s a great way for them to learn Christian truths. If you have any you would like to donate, please contact Charlotte Barrett (834-6364 or [email protected]). The Nursery Room will now be for ages birth to 24 months and the Toddler Room for those over 24 months to 4 years old. (Of course, exceptions can always be made on an indi-vidual basis.) During first service the 3–4 year olds should be attending their Sunday school class.

Grace is God reaching down. Faith is man reaching up.

You either get BITTER or you get BETTER. It’s that simple. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down. THE CHOICE does not belong to fate, it BELONGS TO YOU.Josh Shipp

The Over 50s will meet for breakfast with Pastor David

at the Marysville Diner on Wednesday, July 13 at 9am. Be sure to join us!

It’s summer and what better way to enjoy it but to have a picnic. At 5pm on Thursday, July 14 the Over 50s will meet at the pavilion be- low the boat launch area by the dam at Little Buf- falo State Park to have some fun and good food. Paper products and drinks will be provided. We’ll have the grill hot if you want to cook on it. Please bring a dish to share with others. There will be time for games, so bring your horseshoes, ladder golf, or beanbag toss. Kayaking too, if you bring them. We always have a great time and it’s a good way to get to know each other better. If you know someone new to the church or our group, please invite them. Don’t worry if you can’t make it right at 5pm, we’ll be there most of the evening so come anytime. Please contact Charlotte Barrett (834-6364 or [email protected]) if you can make it.

The Perry County Work Camp 2016 was a HUGE success. We had 65 volunteers between job sites and the kitchen. We also completed 24 jobs.

These jobs included:

• Applying sealant to mobile home roofs

• Repairing leaking roofs• Replaced two metal roofs• Installing a door and a window• Fixing skirting on a trailer• Removing and disposing of ¼ acre

of bamboo• Replacing countertops• Replacing sinks and faucets• Fixing plumbing issues• Running wires• Repairing floors• Yard work• Cleaning gutters and downspouts• Installing gutters and downspouts• Installing an air conditioning unit for

a disabled person• Rebuilding a porch• Repairing a deck• Applying primer and paint to a mo-

bile home• Repair dryer• Evicting squirrels• Repairing fascia board• Power wash several locations• Repair a porch• Building planter boxes for Stone-

bridge• Spread mulch around small play-

ground• Maintenance of walking trails at

Cornerstone• Repairs to Nativity set for the Drive-

Thru Nativity

• Spreading stone for a parking lot• Making meals for our volunteers and families each day

Who do we help? Our Perry County neighbors. How do we find these projects? We partner with other local agencies including:

• Join Hands Ministry• The Perry County Food Bank • Office of Aging• Lions Clubs in Perry County

We also send an email to all of the churches in the county telling them about the Perry County Work Camp and including volunteer applications and project applications.

Where do our volunteers come from? This year we have representatives from the following churches:

• Cornerstone Christian Church• Mt. Gilead United Methodist

Church• Hope of Glory Family Church• Duncannon Assembly of God• Tree of Life• Messiah Lutheran Church• St. Bernard’s Catholic Church• Trinity UCC – New Bloomfield• Christ Lutheran Church

How do we pay for it all?

• We spend a lot of time applying for grants

• We solicit local organizations (i.e. Feels Like Home Thrift Store, Li-ons Clubs, VFWs, all Perry County Churches, etc.)

• Some volunteers also provide mon-etary support or supplies

• Special offerings• And donations from people like you!

How can you help in 2017?

• Volunteer. Watch for updates regarding the 2017 dates. We should have this announced by the end of July. We’ll need volunteers for in the kitchen, to make desserts for the evening meals and snacks for lunches, and of course, at job sites. Don’t worry—any skill level can be used. Remember, our God is absolutely amazing and will put you exactly where you need to be.

• Pray. Pray for the families reached in 2016 and the families to be reached in 2017. Pray for our volunteers—past, current, and future.

• Help us find funding resources. Some employers will donate to specific charities. See if yours is one of those and if they would help the Perry County Work Camp.

• Help us find jobs. If you know someone who could use some help, please let Sue Comp or Keith Wilson know. Work request applications will be available in November so you can pick one up and share it.

• Monetary donations.

If you have any questions, please contact me (834-4641).

We thank you for all the work you did at our home. It looks wonderful. We appreciate all of you. In God’s name, Amen.

Stonebridge visitation ministryAngie Black

Cornerstone’s Stonebridge Nursing Home Ministry is a team of folks that reaches out and visits our neighbors at the Stonebridge Health and Re-

habilitation Center (Nursing Home) on the first and third Sundays of the month at 10:45am. We sing worship songs with guitar accompaniment, hear an encouraging message given by Worship Leader Tim Snow, and pray together, and then we do simple but meaningful crafts with the residents. The Stonebridge Ministry team is currently looking for more members to join! This is truly a beautiful ministry that will touch your heart in so many ways, if you come up and meet with the dear residents. We would love to have more hands to reach and encourage the residents at Stone-bridge. If you feel led to serve others in love and mercy and to share some of your time (whatever time you have to give), please contact Angela Black ([email protected] or 319-6340), who serves as the Stonebridge Ministry Team Coordinator for ministry leaders Tim and Tina Snow. We pray God calls your heart to this wonderful ministry!

Feels Like Home Thrift StoreMaryann Camacci

Great things have been happening at Feels Like Home! We’ve been selling lots of furni-

ture, which brings us to a good problem … we need donations! If you have furniture that you’d like to donate, just stop by the store Thurs- day–Saturday 10am–2pm or talk to Maryann Camacci.

We were able to pass the blessings on this month in the fol-lowing ways:

• Donated money towards the Perry County Work Camp.• Sponsoring four students for the youth trip. These students

also volunteered at the store.• Rented van to transport students for the youth trip.• Donated a mattress to an elderly woman who needed it.• Helped pay for the funeral of a Duncannon Navy veteran.

We have a great team at the store but we’re always looking for more help. If you would like to help out in the store on a Saturday or if you’d like to help deliver or pick up furniture, please talk to Maryann Camacci (554-7740).

We ask that you continue to keep this ministry outreach in your prayers and that you continue to pray for the people we help.

Going green!

We’ve got recycling bins lo-cated outside the kitchen un-der the tables in the hallway.

Anyone that works in the kitchen for any functions or activities or uses other church supplies—check and see if you can recycle the packaging. The bins are marked for a number of recyclable items. Go green!

Beginning in October, we will be implement-ing a new

software to help us better connect with one an-

other, communicate more effectively, follow up with visitors, reg-ister for events, and more! In the long run, this will make con-necting a “breeze” at Cornerstone. But first, we need to get ev-eryone in the system. We are asking that everyone pick up an information form from the Welcome Center to start the registration process. Or, you can email Megan Safko ([email protected]) to check out the program. If you are interested in help-

Save your containers

Don’t know what to do with those large plastic containers—big butter tubs, gallon ice cream tubs—you no longer use? How about donating

them to the church kitchen? We have had a number of food-related events lately at the church, and we’re running out of large containers to store leftovers. If you’ve got ‘em, just drop them off in the kitchen some Sunday morning.
