Refunds• Please select classes carefully and note the dates and times on your calendar. There is a “No Refund Policy” for student “no-shows.” The Service Center is not responsible for reminding students of start dates.

• Registration fees are non-refundable for Senior Aerobics and English as a Second Language (ESL).

• If for any reason you drop a course, the Service Center must receive your call ONE DAY PRIOR to the start of the first class for a refund. For dropped classes, a $5 processing fee will be retained for each refund. Refunds may take up to 4-6 weeks to process. In lieu of a refund, you may take a credit toward another class. Unused attendance is not transferable to another session or another student.

CancellationsThe district reserves the right to modify this schedule due to funding changes, reduction of staff or low enrollment. All state funded courses require a minimum number of students. These courses may be cancelled if those numbers are not maintained. Students will be notified in the event of a course cancellation and a credit toward another class or a full refund will be issued.

ARTS & CRAFTSBasics of Mosaic ArtAn eye for detail, patience, and a neat hand are helpful in this medium. After covering the 'basics' of glass and tile manipulation, composition, different an-damento styles, and setting techniques, each student will create a mosaic on either a two-dimensional surface or a sculptural piece (guitar, ceramic ele-ment, flower pot, etc.). The final product will be grouted, cleaned, and ready for use or display, then the student should feel confident enough to tackle a project of a larger scope. No prior experience necessary. Students must supply their own glass and may purchase their own tools. Some tools will be available for student use. 2014 CERT Schedule The Coronado Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program that

trains citizens to prepare for – and respond safely to – disasters. The goal is to better prepare the community for disasters and to help serve neighborhoods when emergency

services are overwhelmed. CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve.

paid at the time of the class. Participants receive an American Heart Association book and CPR card.

JOE ANDERSONJoe currently teaches this course at SDSU, Mira Costa, Southwestern and Cuyamaca Community Colleges. He is also the host of "Your Money Your Wealth" on AM 760 KFMB radio. Joe received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida, and is a frequent speaker for a wide range of professional groups in San Diego County. He is a board member of The Society of Financial Service Professionals and a member of the Financial Planning Association.

ROBERTO ARROYORoberto is a guitar player/singer/songwriter from Texas with over 25 years of experience. He is versatile in many styles including rock, blues, country, electric. Roberto has played in several bands and onstage. He has played in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Nashville, and other cities. He also loves to buy, sell, trade, repair and modify guitars.

LORENA BACALorena, a native of Mexico City, has a B.A. from CESSA University in Mexico City. In 1998, she founded Elia Enterprises, a company that provides professional translation services in more than 150 languages. Lorena operates after-school foreign language programs in private schools in Nevada and at CUSD. Lorena teaches Spanish to children, adults and executives in private settings. Her extensive travel has provided her love and respect for other cultures and languages.

KARENMARIE BAKERKarenmarie Barker has been actively involved in the health and fitness industry for over 10 years as a group fitness instructor and also a personal trainer. She is a highly motivated and energetic instructor/trainer with the compassion to work with varying levels of exercise fitness.

She strives to make workouts safe, motivating and effective by incorporating awesome music and fun choreographies. Karenmarie has worked with all age levels to help clients with their specific needs so they will see life changing results and feel great about themselves.

CHANDRA BEALChandra is a graduate of the UCSD Center for Mindfulness teacher training for Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. She is also a registered yoga teacher and massage therapist. Chandra has had a formal meditation practice for the past ten years, andan informal practice since childhood. She teaches people to manage stress using simple, accessible meditation and awareness.

MARENA BRONSONMarena has a B.A. from Brigham Young University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been dancing for more than twenty years, and brings several years of experience in performing and teaching. Marena is also a Certified Pilates instructor.

RENEE CAVANAUGHRenee has an aerobics instructor certification through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. She has been teaching for over 15 years.

JEFFREY GAINESJeff was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where he studied music education. After graduating he moved and enjoyed a career as a vocal and instrumental music educator in Arizona, California and Washington. Jeff is semi-retired from teaching and in addition to teaching for CAE, he works as a trombonist and pianist/singer providing entertainment to older adult residents along with special music appreciation for shut-ins in the San Diego area.

GEORGE GALDORISIGeorge is a New York Times best-selling writer who has published multiple works in all of these media and who offers something for everyone to take their writing to the next level with the explicit goal of getting it published. DAMARIS GONZALEZAt a very young age Damaris developed a great love for textiles that has continued to this day. She enjoys the art of knitting and spinning natural fibers. It is a great pleasure for Damaris to share her interests with newcomers to the field of knitting.

KIRSTIN GREENCoronado native, Kirstin Green graduated from CHS in 1995. After completing her Bachelor's degree in art and classics at SFSU, she joined the Peace Corps and served in Ghana for over two years. Kirstin has worked as a professional mosaic artist and teacher since 2001, and has public mosaics on display in Coronado, Pasadena and Ghana, Africa.

VALERIE HALLValerie is a jack-of-all type who has flirted with many forms of yoga, art and music. She considers herself fortunate to be an alumni of Coronado High School, and a Coronado resident. Valerie is trained in Ayurveda by Bhava Ram and Laura Plumb at Deep Yoga, and yoga teacher certified through Yoga One with Michael and Amy Caldwell. She is excited to teacher in her hometown and share her passion with students.

GREG JOHNSONGreg has been organizing adult recreation basketball and softball leagues for many years. In addition, Greg is an assistant coach for the Coronado High School boys' basketball program.

ALLEN LEVINAllen has been teaching for us for six years. He captained two national championship teams in USTA league tennis, and for three years Allen and his partner were the No. 1 doubles team, 60 and over, in San Diego. Many of the students that started with Allen are now playing in tournaments and leagues and are doing very well.

SCOTT LIENHARDScott is a graduate of Palomar College Woodworking Department with a certificate in Furniture Design. He owns and operates a custom guitar business (Acacia Custom Guitars), and has a small business selling objects made on the lathe.

JANETTE NOELAfter graduating from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Graphic Design, Janette pursued a Master's degree in Education, emphasis in Computer Education and Technology leadership at Cal State, L.A. She currently works as a freelance graphic designer and defines her personality as assertive, creative and positive... characteristic of good teaching techniques.

TRACY PETRUCCITracy Petrucci has been helping small business owners and entrepreneurs grow through traditional and online marketing since 2006. Tracy has a B.S. in Global Business Marketing, is a published writer, and teaches at four schools in San Diego County.

ERIC REMPEEric's love of clay began in high school in his hometown of Lancaster, PA. He has a BFA in ceramics from Penn State and his MFA from San Diego State University. Eric's work has been exhibited in Japan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and in galleries and museums across the United States. He teaches ceramics full-time at Coronado High School.

DIANE ROJASDiane has enjoyed teaching line dance in Coronado for over six years. She has been trained in Line Dance Choreography, and has helped many adult learners in San Diego County to enjoy life and have fun line dancing!

GINA SORENSENGina is an artist, educator, and scholar. She is the co-director of somebodies dance theater, a contemporary modern dance company, and a recent recipient of the National Artist Teacher Fellowship. She teaches dance at Coronado School of the Arts, San Diego State University, and San Diego City College. Gina has her MFA in Dance, has published original research in the Journal of Dance Education, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).

KYLE SORENSENKyle is on the dance faculties at San Diego State University and San Diego City College, where he teaches contemporary modern dance, hip hop, and more. As the co-artistic director of somebodies dance theatre, he choreographs work that is presented around the world and has co-developed a unique approach to dance technique called SubtleBodyBigDance. Kyle recently returned from a 2013-2014 Fulbright to Israel where he studied dance and creative process.

LAURA WEBBLaura is a certified fitness instructor with the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America and licensed through Zumba Fitness. She has taught a wide variety of classes over the past six years but Zumba is her favorite. Laura is also a full-time chemistry teacher at High Tech High International School.

JOAN WHALENJoan has 24 years of experience in wedding planning. She has owned and operated a professional catering business for 15 years. Joan also taught catering at Coronado High School several years ago.
