St John's Catholic College - COVID-19 Response - as at 0730 Wednesday 6 May, 2020
Dear Members of the St John's Catholic College Community,
In response to the Chief Minister's announcement regarding the 'Territory's Roadmap to the New Normal' on
Thursday 30 April, I write to outline the College's plans moving forward.
Please note that the College will continue to provide updates from relevant authorities to manage and reduce risk
for our College Community. Students and staff are still expected to follow advice from the Australian and Northern
Territory Governments, Catholic Education NT, and to practise good hygiene.
As a matter of ongoing priority, students and staff who are unwell are expected to remain at home until symptoms
pass or are cleared by a GP with a medical certificate. Parents / Guardians are expected to notify the College on
8982 2222 or at [email protected] regarding any student absence.
Day School: The Day School remains open for face to face delivery of lessons with all students expected to attend.
Boarding School: Due to the associated risks with COVID-19 and the restrictions enacted under the Commonwealth
Biosecurity Act, the Boarding School remains closed. However, the College is working with the Northern Territory
Government, planning for the reopening of Boarding under a plan that manages and reduce risk for students and
staff. Boarding students are expected to continue to access education from home and through community schools,
accessing resources from St John's via mail out packs and / or the learning platform Edmodo.

iProtocols Should A Student Present Unwell At School or Become Unwell At School
Dear Parents / Guardians,
I write to communicate the protocols the College has put in place effective Wednesday 25 March, 2020. It
is the expectation of the College that students who are unwell should not attend school. However, should a
student present at school unwell, or become unwell during the day, the College will follow the below
protocols.
Protocols should a student present unwell at school or become unwell at school:
The aim is to isolate the student as quickly as possible, limiting exposure to other members of the
community by directing the student to the shade structure outside the main administrative block (admin
car park end).
A member of the Strategic Leadership Team is to be informed immediately (call or in person) who will
oversee the following steps:
o Student to be monitored and care provided whilst maintaining distance.
o Administration Team to call Parent / Guardian to collect student.
Parent / Guardian to take student home and are encouraged to consult a GP and/or call the COVID-19
hotline (1800 008 002 or 8922 8044) if required.
Student not to return to the College until symptoms pass or cleared by a GP with a medical certificate.
These above protocols have been put in place to manage and reduce risk for our College Community. We
apprecia^ the ongoing support of Parents / Guardians during this difficult time.

across the country. You may find this media release, along with the 'You
