1 - 2 General Remarks

Definition of Terms 1

Technically feasible area, Orientation points and so on 1

• Technically feasible area, minimum length, minimum widthThe technically feasible area is the rectangle that is formed from the minimum length and minimum width as the space requirement for a system component. The following conventions apply for the technically feasible area:1. It is the minimum area that is possible without making restrictions to unit

movements necessary.2. Unless otherwise noted, it may not be less than this area!3. The required safety distances are included (caution: it is possible that national

regulations differ from these);4. The service areas for the unit are included;5. The required areas for unhindered examination and operation, as well as the

required installation areas for control cabinets are not taken into consideration;6. Illustration: the technically feasible area are illustrated in the top-down views in this

PG as a broken line.

• Orientation pointsPoints specific to system components to which reference is made when positioning system components to each other or in the room. The isocenter of a radiographic system is always illustrated as the orientation point.Illustration in the drawings:

• FixpointsClearly marked points on system components, installation ceiling, walls or floor on which cable outlets are located.Illustration in the drawings: circle with letter/number- combination.

The cable lengths establish the maximum fixpoint distances and thus the maximum distances between the individual system components.

• Room heightThe room height is the distance measured from the top surface of the finished floor to the bottom surface of the ceiling structural elements (Unistrut rails) (bottom surface of drop ceiling).

1 - 4 General Remarks

EPS (Emergency Power Supply) (Option) 1

• The EPS is primarily comprised of:1. a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply)

The power distributor (Fixpoint PD) is connected to the UPS. This way, if there is a failure of the line power supply, with the exception of the generator all system components (unit, imaging system, ...) will still be supplied with power.

2. an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch)The ATS is intended to be an expansion to the UPS. If line power fails, the generator is connected to the UPS via the ATS. The normal exposure mode will be blocked and only continuous fluoroscopy will be possible (with fully charged batteries, min. 30 minutes).

• At this time, one EPS from the Exide Company is approved:- Uninterruptable power supply comprised of:

- Automatic Transfer Switch, Exide, Part No. SMATS• Detailed information about the EPS is available from the headquarters of the Exide

Company in the particular country, e.g. from:

1. Powerware 2. HV cabinet3. Battery cabinet

3 - 16 Installation Preparation

In-house Electrical Installation 3

• The appropriate regulations regarding electrical installation must be observed. In Germany, these are mainly the standards in the VDE 0100 and VDE 0107series; in other countries, the particular national regulations.

• For power line connection voltages, see Chapter 5.

Remarks regarding the recommendation on Page 3-17 for the room electri-cal installation per DIN VDE 0107 3

Ground Fault Interrupters• Use only ground fault interrupters for AC and pulsed DC fault currents, surge-protected,

with I!N=30 mA.• Ground fault interrupters cannot be used in power systems without an N-conductor. • Ground Fault Interrupter for System Power Distributor (PD):

IN = 40 A / I!N = 30 mA• Ground Fault Interrupter for the POLYDOROS IS Generator:

Commercially-available ground fault interrupters respond too quickly when used with the generator. For this reason, use only the following types:

ON-OFF Switch (with Control Lamp)Install one ON-OFF switch in the control room for the COROSKOP Plus system. This ON-OFF switch should be installed at a height of approx. 1.8 m in the vicinity of the control console.

EMERGENCY OFF Switch (with Locking Mechanism)At least one Emergency OFF switch (with locking mechanism) must be installed in the examination room, control room and equipment room to enable quick switch-off of the COROSKOP Plus system in emergency situations. Position these at a height of approx. 1.8 m so that they are easily reached, but cannot be pressed unintentionally.

- Power cable, 5x16 mm2.- The connector terminals are set up for max. 16 mm2.

• Power Line Cabling to the POLYDOROS IS (PU1)- Power line cabling 5 x per the calculation.

Take note of the internal line resistance:1. Measure the internal line resistance, Ri, at the subdistributor using the line

resistance meter.2. Size the power lead-in cable so that the max. admissible Rimax (see table) is not

exceeded. Measured internal line resistance plus the resistance of the power lead-in cable " Rimax.

*Resistance values in Ohms with UN -15%** Resistance values in Ohms with UN -10%

- The POLYDOROS IS is a 100 kW generator. If there is a greater internal line resistance than listed in the above table, generator power is automatically reduced.A max. generator power of 80 kW is sufficient for the X-ray tube unit assemblies currently being shipped.

- Minimum Ri: 0.2 Ohm.- Max. cross section of the cable that can be clamped: 70 mm2.

Laying Cables 4

= Floor fixpoint= Ceiling fixpoint

Remarks:• Lay cables / wiring harnesses separately in pipes or in enclosed cable conduits.• If cables are laid in open cable conduits, separate cables using metal spacer plates or a

similar method.• The depth of the cable conduit should be at least 70 mm; if there are intersections, depth

plan a greater depth.

Calculating the Required Cable Conduit Cross Section 4

For all cable conduit / pipe sections, calculate the sum of the cross sections of all cables/wiring harnesses. The individual cross sections of the cables/wiring harnesses can be found in the cable list. The required fill factors are already included in this.If excess cable lengths are to be stored inside cable conduits, this fact must be taken into account when calculating the size.
