Yokogawa is well regarded in the global marketplace as a leading control company and pioneer in the development of distributed control systems for the monitoring and control of processes in a broad range of production facilities. Based on its Vigilantplant vision for realizing the ideal plant, Yokogawa offers best-in-class platform product and service solutions such as the Vigilantplant Services suite that enhance productivity, make maximum use of assets, ensure safety, and optimize operations over the entire plant lifecycle. These solutions currently play vital supporting roles for our customers in the oil, chemical, natural gas, electric power, iron and steel, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, food, and other industries.

Yokogawa is also providing solutions based on its measurement and control technologies that make more efficient use of renewable energy and is devising new ways in which next-generation energy sources can be utilized to achieve a sustainable society.

proDUCTIoN CoNTroL SYSTEMSWe provide our customers with a range of systems that support the safe and efficient operation of their plants. These include highly reliable production control systems for the control and monitoring of plant operations, safety instrumented systems that are fully integrated with plant production control systems to achieve the highest levels of safety, and network-based control systems and programmable logic controllers that are both highly reliable and versatile.

ENErGY SAVING AND NEW ENErGY SoLUTIoNSWe provide systems and tools that help manufacturers reduce energy consumption by visualizing where energy is being wasted and verifying adjustments to plant equipment and operations that will optimize energy efficiency. We also offer measurement and control technologies that support the efficient use of biomass, geothermal, solar, and other forms of renewable energy. These technologies are contributing to advancements in ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC), marine biomass, and other next-generation energy fields, and are being used in the development of secondary cell power storage technologies. In these ways we are helping to bring about a sustainable society.

SECUrITY SoLUTIoNSYokogawa has strengthened the security of its control systems and extends a variety of support services that offer increased protection from cyber-attacks and computer viruses. Yokogawa also provides camera systems for the monitoring and management of plant facilities, including entry and exit points. Through such hardware and IT solutions, Yokogawa is working to make its customers’ plants safer.

FIELD INSTrUMENTS, ANALYTICAL INSTrUMENTS, AND rECorDErSWe offer a wide range of field instruments for use on production lines. These include transmitters and flowmeters that measure fluid pressure, temperature, and flow rate. We supply analytical instruments such as pH analyzers and process gas chromatographs for measuring the concentrations of gas and fluid constituents. We also offer paperless recorders that electronically store measurement information and temperature controllers.

Yokogawa has been involved in the measuring field since its founding and has contributed to many industries through its supply of test and measurement equipment. Yokogawa provides reliable measuring instruments for the development and production of electrical, electronic, and automotive equipment, as well as for the environmental measurement and communications markets. Yokogawa is also engaged in businesses involving products such as confocal scanner units for the real-time observation of life processes at the molecular level and drug discovery support systems for the automatic testing of candidate compounds, and anticipates that these businesses will become market leaders.

MEASUrING INSTrUMENTSFocusing on new markets such as electric vehicles, environmental measurement, and next-generation communication networks that are playing instrumental roles in facilitating a low-carbon society, we provide a wide range of voltage, current, electric power, optical power, and other basic measuring instruments, as well as instruments used in the measurement of waveforms and optical communications. By developing key devices in-house, we are able to create highly competitive and valuable products with the levels of excellence for which Yokogawa is well known.

Other businesses

Yokogawa is also steadily developing its aircraft instrument and marine navigation system businesses and its environmental business. Yokogawa’s flat panel displays feature high visibility and superb environmental resistance, and are used in the cockpits of the latest Airbus airliners. Yokogawa supplies a full lineup of navigation systems such as gyrocompasses and autopilots for vessels of all kinds, from large passenger ships to freighters. Yokogawa’s environmental business supplies hydrological and meteorological equipment that include measuring instruments such as rain gauges and hydrostatic level gauges.
