Dr. Adi is an Associate Professor of DevelopmentEconomics at the Lagos Business School. Prior to his facultyappointment, Bongo Adi was CIPRA MTN Research Fellow atLagos Business School where he facilitated classes in PublicPrivate Partnerships (PPPs), project finance anddevelopment. He led various collaborations on research,case studies and stakeholder engagement with variousgovernment agencies including ICRC, NERC and severalministries involved in PPPs.

He has over 15 years experience in teaching, policyresearch, and consulting. As an assistant professor, he haslectured at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, where he wasa JSPS fellow, and at the American University of Nigeria. Hehas received several international awards including theJapan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)award. He is a UNU Fellow and a World Bank scholar.

Adi has consulted for the World Bank, UNCTAD, JIRCAS,JICA and UNU. He is widely published and his currentresearch interests include electricity market design, privatepublic partnerships, and political economy of megaprojects.

He holds an MA and a PhD in development economics fromthe prestigious University of Tsukuba, Japan. He undertookpost doctoral training at the Data Mining Team of theNational Agricultural Research Centre, Tsukuba, Japanwhere he developed routines for forecasting rice yields frompaddies using remote sensing data from the JapanAerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Prof Makinde, emeritus professor of Political Science,Religion and Administration is one of Africa’s finestpioneers of innovation and excellence in Africa’stertiary education. He was the 2nd President of thefirst Private University in Nigeria; BabcockUniversity. As the President of Babcock University,Makinde was able to provide more access to moreindigent students through the “Adopt a Studentscholarship scheme”, he raised the enrolment from3500 to 10,000 students within the space of sevenyears, he increased the University balance sheet byover 850%, worked assiduously to expand theUniversity network of development partners and oneof the evidence of that effort is the strong productivepartnership with Medical Bridges Inc.
