    Academy Culture

Employees are highly skilled and tend to stay

in the organization, while working their wayup the ranks.

    The organizations provide a stable

environment in which employees can develop

    and exercise their skills.

    E.g.: universities, hospitals, large corporations,

    etc.

    Culture

Employees are "free agents" who have highly

prized skills. They are in high demand and can rather

    easily get jobs elsewhere.

This type of culture exists in fast-paced, high-risk organizations

    E.g.: investment banking, advertising, etc.

    ADVANTAGES OF POSITIVE CULTURE

Instructions are interpreted in a common

way, so work is done to a similar standard and

in a similar manner. Loyalty is increased, and replacing workers is

    an expense to be avoided.

    Motivation, and productivity, is increased.

    Management control is increased.

    CRITICISMS OF CORPORATE CULTURE

Multi-cultural management - shortage ofmanagers with the necessary skills in MNC

E.g. In the Middle East ,family values are very important

and an employee wouldnt dream of staying late to finish

work if this conflicted with a family duty. This doesnt mean, that their work-ethic is poor, it is just expressed differentlyand a Western manager would cause a lot of offence bysuggesting otherwise.

Businesses are not places with a homogenousculture but a mixture of sub cultures.
