CORPUS CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH
Dear Parishioners, Many times in our homilies, we hear about centering our lives on what is most important. Many of us question this. “What are the most important things for me to center my life on?” We are beginning Lent this Wednesday. Lent is always a primary time to focus on being the person you have been called to be. There are many opportunities during Lent to focus on what is most important. As Catholics, the main focus of our lives should always be the Eucharist. One hundred percent of our faith flows to and from the Eucharist. To receive Jesus more worthily each time we receive Him is like building stairsteps to heaven. There is no better preparation for the last day than making ourselves worthy to receive and be received by Jesus. Again, Lent gives us many opportunities to focus our lives on how to do this: Attend extra Mass whenever possible; Set aside time each day to read Scripture or spiritual books; Pray the Holy Rosary; Set time aside for prayer, fasting, sacrificing and almsgiving; Go to Confession. There are endless ways to strive to be a better person. God is always ready to bless us. What we need to do to receive these special blessings is to do the things that call down His blessings on us. I pray each of you have a blessed Lent.
Deacon Tom
