Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings! May the upcoming season of Advent and Christmas be filled with all the graces of peace, hope, and joy they promise!

HOLY SEASONS!

“Time flies!” is usually only an expression, but in our case it was really so! This year we were so busy, we didn’t have the time to send more news letters to you as we had in previous years. However, we could not let this special time of the year pass without sending our Season’s Greetings that the Lord may grant you this Advent and Christmas season peace and joy in your homes: May the Lord bring healing to those who are ill, and reconciliation to families who need forgiveness and unity in their homes! May the joy and peace experienced at the celebration of the Incarnation of our Savior, remain with you all year long.

OUR NEW PRESIDENT

We also continue to pray for our country as it prepares for new leadership, the installation of the new president and other elected officials. Let us pray that the Spirit of God may direct all our human efforts so that true justice is upheld, true freedom and dignity for all assured, and true peace be achieved in our land and in the world.

NEW MINISTRIES

We are very excited in St. Catherine of Siena with new ministries: “Seniors in Action,” and “Angels of Mercy,” we also have an English as a second language class for those whose first language is Creole and, of course, we continue to offer English classes to those whose first language is Spanish. Besides these, we count with more than 70 ministries, in which we serve one another in the Christian spirit to make evident the Kingdom of God in our midst. STEWARDSHIP COMMITMENT

We are very happy with our Stewardship Campaign through which we are able to receive the commitment of our parishioners to contribute with their Time, Talent, and Treasure so that our parish

may continue to be a vibrant parish filled with faith and service. This year 652 families made their commitment of Time, and 446 families made their commitment of Treasure promising to contribute with $844,584.00 towards our ministry expenses. Our budget for this year is $938,238.00 so we are still short by $93,654.00. See the details in the Parish Finance report. We are also short in the “Our Catholic Appeal” account. We pray that those who made the promise will in fact contribute, right now we are entering a critical stage in that Campaign. Please see the report inside. I hope that those who have not made a commitment will contribute towards the expenses we need to cover for the ministry for this fiscal year 2016-2017. Without our parishioners financial contributions there is no ministry, and no parish! So thank you once again for your generosity.

We are doing our Commitment of Talent November 12-13. We continue to need more parishioners in all the different areas of service to the parish, particularly the Liturgical Ministries. So, I encourage those who have not made a commitment to please do so and join us in building the Kingdom of God in our Midst. Let us heed the invitation of Christ to serve one another following His example.

BUSINESS MANAGER

Our Business Manager, Jorge Coriano, is now celebrating his first anniversary working at our parish! Congratulations! He has been working very hard to bring our parish administration to the high standards set by our Bishop. He also has been working together with our building committee to complete many maintenance projects and we are still working on others that we hope soon will be completed. One of the most exciting news in our parish is the fact that we are now in the process of building our new temple.

OUR NEW TEMPLE

Our Bishop, Most Reverend John Noonan, has given us his commitment and support to build our temple.

We agreed that we have limited resources and a great need for space as the community continues to grow as does the population with new developments in our area. We came to a consensus that our budget for the temple will be 3 million dollars, of which the parish already has 1.5 in the bank (See financial report.) The other 1.5 million will be a loan that the diocese will give to the parish.

Our aim is to design a place we can build with this budget, and that can host the most number of people without sacrificing the beauty and harmony that any church should have. Our Bishop has assured us that we will not stop until the new temple is finished and dedicated. So, with the full support of our Bishop, we began to meet back in July. First to revisit our project since we had not done anything on the actual church building, since we had to stop back in 2008 due to the collapse of the economy; then, to hire an owner’s representative, and now we are in the process of hiring an architect.

We hope to have an architect by the middle of November. With the architect we will complete the design of the Church. As the process continues we will keep you updated on what is going on, as we plan to maintain an up-to-date report of the project in our website. It is possible that we will have to do community meetings and such therefore, I hope many parishioners attend in order to give their input when needed.

FAITH FORMATION

This year, Luisa Negret left us. We appreciate all she did for our Faith Formation Program but we understand that God was calling her to another mission in Texas. She remains in contact and has shared pictures of her granddaughter. We can tell, she is enjoying her time as a grandmother. At the same time, we were blessed, that the Lord sent us, another wonderful person to serve as Coordinator of Faith Formation, Cristy Smith; and a coordinator for RCIA, Rosalynn Fernández. They are working as a team and doing great things for our parish Faith Formation Program. See more about them in this issue. Marisol Ortiz, who was with Faith Formation and Stewardship is now the Liturgy Secretary and is keeping up with that busy department.

EVANGELIZATION TOOLS

This year we began using two great communication and evangelization tools in our parish: “FORMED.org” a website where you can find great Catholic teachings and entertainment; and “My Parish app” which helps the parish keep

parishioners informed on events and happenings at the parish. This is very exciting, because our Stewardship focus this year is the pillar of FORMATION, with our motto, “Growing in Faith, we will walk with Jesus.” Through our parish app we were able to maintain the faithful up-to-date during hurricane Mathew, for example. I personally have made a commitment to send a daily reflection at 7:00 am which many parishioners have found very useful for their personal daily meditation, not to mention to alert them at 7:00 a.m., so, some use it as their alarm clock!

You can read more about these formation and evangelization tools in this issue. I personally invite and encourage all of you to take advantage of these resources in your home to learn or deepen your knowledge of the faith, to share the Good News with family members and friends and to stay always connected to the parish.

END OF YEAR OF MERCY

Through the parish app, we have been able to follow the teachings of Pope Francis, on the Jubilee of Mercy which ends on the 20th of November. I, myself, learned a lot from the experience of choosing for the app a daily quote from Pope Francis about mercy.

Opening “Symbolic Doors of Mercy” throughout the world reminded us, this Jubilee Year, that the doors of Mercy of God are always opened as He is always ready to welcome sinners who return to Him changing the old ways of sin for the new life of mercy. Closing the doors reminds us that, though God is patient, those doors of Mercy will not be opened forever. One day the Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, will return in glory to judge the living and dead, and the time of mercy will be over, as the time of judgement will arrive. For some of us, this time will happen sooner, and so we are invited to always avail ourselves of the mercy of God in the Holy Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confessions.) May we all die confessed and reconciled, in the state of Grace and will full reception of God’s forgiveness that will lead us to God’s presence in eternity.

I do hope that this Jubilee Year was an opportunity of growth for all of us. Let us continue to look to the future with hope, as we are assured of the Mercy of God and, as we have assured the world of our own mercy to others in our effort to keep alive the spirit of the Jubilee: “Merciful as the Father.” Once again, may the Lord grant you a blessed season of Advent and Christmas and a New Year filled with His blessings. Advent is the season four weeks before Christmas in which we prepare for the coming of Christ. It begins on the Sunday nearest to the 30th of November, until the 24th of December.

Advent, from the Latin word adventus, is the time that reminds us to be prepared for the coming of Christ in Glory.

The season celebrates Christ's anticipated coming again in the fullness of time to rule triumphantly over life in heaven and earth, as well as the coming of Christ as the infant Savior whose birth we celebrate during Christmas. And because the season emphasizes Christ's coming and not just his birth, it’s more than just a time to get ready for Christmas. Advent reminds us that the question is not whether Jesus will return to judge the earth, but when.

The season of Advent came into being toward the middle of the sixth century. At first, the Advent Season was determined as the six Sundays leading up to Christmas. This was then reduced to four Sundays by Pope St. Gregory the Great (591-604).

Before the seventh century, Christmas was a secondary feast, especially in Rome, but as it came to take on more and more importance, so the season of Advent evolved in a similar manner. Advent became more solemn and its orientation changed. From just being a time to prepare for Christmas, it became a time to look to the glorious return of the Lord and now Advent reflect this double perspective of waiting for the Second Coming of Jesus: the first segment from the first Sunday of Advent to Dec. 16, and The preparation for the celebration of the first coming of the Savior at His birth, from Dec. 17 to Dec. 24.

The Roman Catholic Church summarizes Advent by saying, "When the Church celebrates the liturgy of Advent each year, she makes present the ancient expectancy of the Messiah, by sharing in the long preparation for the Savior's first coming, the faithful renew their ardent desire for His Second Coming." God’s first intervention within our history came not in

the form of some instant or earth shattering event, but instead God chose to come into the world as we all do, to be born as a baby in the midst of a chaotic world. By our own impatient standards this seems such a slow way to bring salvation to the world. But God may not always choose the easy answer or the quick fix. But by His earthly incarnation He demonstrates a total commitment to the very core of humanity. A commitment, to its day by day routines and challenges, a commitment to humanity from the cradle to the grave and beyond. And in that same incarnational way, God comes to us day by day, through the working of the Spirit, through His Word and Sacrament, making the ordinary extraordinary; making the broken whole; and redeeming and restoring the past, present and future, whatever they hold.

This is a message which is clear in the Gospel. History, myth, belief and imagery come together to create a vision, the strength of which is not in trying to understand the detail of Christ’s second coming but in catching a glimpse of the message of salvation and healing being completed. We should not spend our time worrying about the timing of God’s arrival or about the distraction of what might happen in the meantime.

God’s reign has already broken into our world through the incarnation, death and resurrection of Christ. His Kingdom is near and it is coming, even as it is already arrived but not fully realized. We are to remain watchful, and aware, and to be prepared for the final coming, which is likely to arrive at any time.

God’s love is shared with uncommon grace in a world so desperately in need of that love. It is through us, and through the very imperfect Church that bears His name that His love and grace continue to come and spread, at Advent and through the Christian year ahead as we look to His coming in glory.

There is much about Advent to enjoy, the Advent wreaths found in our churches where they have four candles to be lit each Sunday and one for Christmas Day. But in the midst of our church we know that just as we prepare for Christmas, so we have to make ready to welcome Jesus in our lives. Are you ready for the coming of Jesus?

SENIORS IN ACTION What a fun Ministry this is! They meet 3 times a week Tues, Wed, and Thurs from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. While some parishioners are playing bingo or dominoes, the others are exercising doing

Zumba. Every week they are visited by professionals such as Technologist, Nutritionists, Hair-Dressers. etc. They celebrate birthdays, sing, dance and interact with each other. This Ministry keeps our seniors feeling young and healthy. The Coordinator, Manuelita Placa, is available to answer any questions. Registration you asked? Yes, today! ENGLISH CLASS FOR THE HAITIAN COMMUNITY

Mr. Yves Coles, a retired teacher that recently moved to our Sunshine State, has honored us with his teaching expertise. He has been a dedicated educator for over 25 years. In the last 10 years Mr. Cole taught Adult Education to Hispanics in New York City. His passion for teaching has landed him here at our community, and will now be teaching English to our Haitian Community, “A beginning Course”, Friday’s from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you know of anyone whose language is Creole and would like to learn the English language, here is the free opportunity. Join those that have already started.

HANDS OF MERCY A very Special ministry that is committed to helping the Social Foundation of Homeless Children of “Camino de Maria” directed by Sister Luz Dary Cardona located in Colombia The foundation helps children ages 2-16 that are orphans. Hands of Mercy Ministry through raffles, donations etc., helps the foundation with some of their needs. FAITH FORMATION By now we hope you all have met Cristy Smith. She is our newest employee in charge of the Faith Formation Department. For those of you who have not met her yet, she comes to us from Atlanta, Ga. where she held the position of Faith Formation

Coordinator at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She grew up in Central Florida before moving around the world as a military wife. She holds a Bachelors and a Master’s degree both in Criminology and Forensic Psychology. These past few months Cristy has embraced our community and has felt the love from our congregation. She has an open door policy, so if you ever find yourself with a Faith Formation, RCIA or Baptismal question she will be more than happy to help and serve you.

Born in the Dominican Republic, raised in New York City, fluent in Spanish and English. Mrs. Rosalynn Fernandez arrived at St. Catherine of Siena Community on January of 2016. Her expertise as Faith Formation Coordinator at

St. Benedict Joseph Labre Roman Catholic Church in New York, qualifies her to serve and continue her mission of faith here in our community. Rosalynn has embarked on a journey with St. Catherine of Siena’s Faith Formation program and is now serving as Coordinator to the (RCIA) program, (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Most of us have met her. If you haven’t, her open door policy is a plus and would enable you to visit, share ideas or ask any question you might have on RCIA or Faith Formation or if you know of anyone who is not baptized and would like to become Catholic please contact her. Once again we Welcome Ms. Rosalynn Fernández and embrace her in our family of faith.

March 6, 2016 We are excited to announce that St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church has begun a free subscription to a

website called FORMED.org for our parish that will help our parishioners discover the big picture of our Catholic faith.

Father Bautista on several occasions has introduced Formed.org to most our parishioners at Sunday masses. As of today there are 354 parishioners registered and using it. Formed.org has been designed especially for us to understand Evangelization and to immerse us in the richness of the Catholic Faith.

FORMED.org will be an invaluable resource for our parish as we seek to know and live our faith in order to grow in deeper communion with Jesus Christ and His Church.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, ¡Saludos! Que las próximas temporadas de Adviento y Navidad estén llenas de todas las gracias de paz, esperanza y alegría que prometen!

¡ESTACIONES SANTAS!

El "tiempo vuela!" es generalmente solamente una expresión, pero en nuestro caso realmente cierta! Este año estuvimos muy ocupados y no tuvimos tiempo de enviarles más Ediciones de “Dialogue” nuestra revista parroquial, como lo hicimos en los años anteriores. Sin embargo, no podemos dejar pasar este tiempo especial del año, sin enviar el saludo de la temporada, para que el Señor pueda conceder que estas temporadas de Adviento y Navidad traigan paz y alegría en sus hogares; ¡Que el Señor traiga sanación a los enfermos y reconciliación a las familias que necesitan perdón y unidad en sus hogares! Que la alegría y la paz experimentadas en la celebración de la Encarnación de nuestro Salvador, permanezcan con ustedes durante todo el año.

NUESTRO NUEVO PRESIDENTE

También seguimos orando por nuestro país mientras se prepara para el nuevo liderazgo, la instauración del nuevo presidente y otros funcionarios electos. Oremos para que el Espíritu de Dios dirija todos nuestros esfuerzos humanos para que se mantenga la verdadera justicia, la verdadera libertad y dignidad sean aseguradas y para que la paz verdadera sea lograda en nuestro país y en el mundo entero.

NUEVOS MINISTERIOS

En Santa Catalina de Siena estamos muy emocionados con los nuevos ministerios: "Seniors en Acción" y "Manos de Misericordia", también tenemos clases de Inglés como segundo idioma, para aquellos cuyo primer idioma es Creole y por supuesto, continuamos ofreciendo Inglés para aquellos cuyo primer idioma es el Español; Además contamos con más de 70 ministerios, es decir, formas en que nos servimos unos a otros en el espíritu cristiano para hacer evidente el Reino de Dios en medio de nosotros. COMPROMISO DE ADMINISTRACIÓN

Estamos muy contentos con nuestra Campaña de Mayordomía a través de la cual pudimos recibir el compromiso de nuestros feligreses de contribuir con su Tiempo, Talento y Tesoro para que nuestra parroquia continúe siendo vibrante, llena de fe y servicio.

Este año 652 familias hicieron su compromiso del tiempo y 446 familias hicieron su compromiso del tesoro que prometieron contribuir con $ 844.584.00 hacia nuestros gastos del ministerio. Nuestro presupuesto para este año es $ 938.238.00 así que todavía estamos cortos por $ 93.654.00. Vea los detalles en el informe de Finanzas Parroquial "Nuestra Apelación Católica". Oramos para que aquellos que hicieron la promesa de hecho contribuyan, porque ahora estamos entrando en una etapa crítica en esta Campaña. Por favor vea el informe incluido. Por lo tanto, espero que aquellos que no han hecho un compromiso, que contribuyan con lo que necesitamos para cubrir los gastos del ministerio para este año fiscal 2016-2017. ¡Sin las contribuciones financieras de los feligreses no hay ministerio, no hay parroquia! Así es que gracias nuevamente por su generosidad.

Estamos haciendo nuestro compromiso de talento del 12 al 13 de noviembre. Seguimos necesitando más ministros en todas las diferentes áreas de servicio en la parroquia, particularmente los ministerios litúrgicos. Por lo tanto, ánimo a aquellos que no se han comprometido a hacerlo por favor unase a nosotros en la construcción del Reino de Dios en nuestro medio. Prestemos atención a la invitación de Cristo a servirnos unos a otros siguiendo su ejemplo.

GERENTE DE NEGOCIOS

Nuestro Gerente de Negocios, Jorge Coriano, está celebrando el primer aniversario de laborar en nuestra parroquia! ¡Felicitaciones! Ha estado trabajando muy duro para llevar nuestra administración parroquial a los altos estándares establecidos por nuestro Obispo. También ha estado trabajando junto con nuestro comité de construcción para completar muchos proyectos de mantenimiento y todavía estamos trabajando en otros, que esperamos que pronto se completen. Una de las noticias más emocionantes en nuestra parroquia es el hecho de que ahora estamos en el proceso de construir nuestro nuevo templo.

NUESTRO NUEVO TEMPLO

Nuestro Obispo, el Reverendo John Noonan, nos ha dado su compromiso y apoyo para construir nuestra iglesia parroquial. Estamos de acuerdo en que tenemos recursos limitados y que hay gran necesidad de un mayor espacio para la comunidad que continúa creciendo a paso que la población del área crece con el desarrollo de nuevas viviendas. Llegamos a un consenso de que nuestro presupuesto para el templo será de 3 millones de dólares, de los cuales la parroquia ya tiene 1.5 en el banco (ver informe

financiero). Los otros 1.5 millones serán un préstamo que la diócesis dará a la parroquia. Nuestro objetivo es diseñar un lugar que podamos construir con este presupuesto, y que pueda albergar el mayor número de personas sin sacrificar la belleza y la armonía que cualquier iglesia debe tener. Nuestro Obispo nos ha asegurado que no nos detendremos hasta que el nuevo templo esté terminado y dedicado.

Así que con todo el apoyo de nuestro Obispo, comenzamos a reunirnos en julio; primero para revisar nuestro proyecto porque no habíamos hecho nada con relación al edificio de la iglesia como tal, ya que tuvimos que detener todo en 2008, debido al colapso de la economía, luego, para contratar a un representante del propietario, y ahora estamos en el proceso de contratación de un arquitecto. Esperamos tener un arquitecto a mediados de noviembre. Con el arquitecto completaremos el diseño de la Iglesia. A medida que el proceso continúa, les mantendremos informados sobre lo que está pasando, ya que planeamos mantener un informe actualizado del proyecto en nuestra página de internet. Es posible que tengamos que hacer reuniones de la comunidad y, por lo tanto, espero que muchos feligreses asistan para dar su opinión cuando sea necesario.

FORMACIÓN DE FE

Este año, Luisa Negret nos dejó. Apreciamos todo lo que hizo por nuestro Programa de Formación de Fe, pero entendemos que Dios la estaba llamando a otra misión en Texas. Ella permanece en contacto y ha compartido fotos de su nieta. Podemos decir que ella está disfrutando mucho siendo una abuela. Al mismo tiempo, fuimos bendecidos porque el Señor nos envió otra persona maravillosa como Coordinadora de la Formación de Fe, Cristy Smith; Y una coordinadora de RCIA, Rosalynn Fernández. Ambas están trabajando en equipo y haciendo cosas maravillosas para nuestro Programa de Formación de la Fe. Vea más sobre ellas en esta edición. Marisol Ortiz, que estaba trabajando con Formación de Fe y el departamento de Corresponsabilidad, ahora es la Secretaria de Liturgia y se mantiene al día con ese departamento tan ocupado.

HERRAMIENTAS DE EVANGELIZACIÓN

Este año comenzamos a usar dos grandes herramientas de comunicación y evangelización en nuestra parroquia: "FORMED.org", una página de internet donde se puede encontrar gran enseñanza y entretenimiento católicos; Y la aplicación "Our Parish" , que ayuda a la parroquia a mantener a los feligreses informados sobre los sucesos y acontecimientos en la parroquia.

Esto es muy emocionante, porque nuestro enfoque de mayordomía este año, es el pilar de la FORMACIÓN, con nuestro lema "Creciendo en Fe,

vamos a caminar con Jesús". A través de la aplicación de la parroquia pudimos mantener a los fieles actualizados durante el huracán Mathew, por ejemplo. Personalmente me he comprometido a enviar una reflexión diaria a las 7:00 de la mañana que muchos feligreses han encontrado muy útil para su meditación personal diaria, sin mencionar a alertarlos a las 7:00 AM, para que algunos lo usen como su despertador!

Puedes leer más sobre estas herramientas de formación y evangelización en este número. Personalmente, invito y los animo a aprovechar estas herramientas en su casa para aprender o profundizar sus conocimientos de la fe, para compartir las Buenas Nuevas con familiares y amigos y para estar siempre conectados a la parroquia.

FIN DEL AÑO DE MISERICORDIA

A través de la aplicación de la parroquia, hemos podido seguir las enseñanzas del Papa Francisco, sobre la misericordia en este año Jubilar que termina 20 de noviembre. Yo mismo aprendí mucho de la experiencia al elegir una meditación diaria para la aplicación.

El abrir "puertas simbólicas de misericordia" a lo largo del mundo nos recordó, este Año Jubilar, que las puertas de la Misericordia de Dios están siempre abiertas ya que Él siempre está listo para recibir a los pecadores que vuelven a Él cambiando su vida de pecado por la nueva vida de misericordia. Cerrando las puertas nos recuerda que, aunque Dios es paciente, esas puertas de Misericordia un día se cerrarán. Un día, el Señor de Señores, Jesucristo, regresará en gloria para juzgar a vivos y muertos, y el tiempo de misericordia habrá terminado, al llegar el tiempo del juicio. Para cada uno de nosotros esto ocurrirá cuando muramos. Por tanto estamos invitados a recurrir siempre a la misericordia de Dios en el Santo Sacramento de la Reconciliación. Confesemos nuestros pecados y reconciliemos para vivir en estado de Gracia recibiendo el perdón de Cristo, que nos llevará a la presencia de Dios en la eternidad.

Espero que este Año Jubilar haya sido una oportunidad de crecimiento para todos nosotros. Sigamos mirando hacia el futuro con esperanza, ya que estamos seguros de la Misericordia de Dios y a la vez asegurado al mundo, de nuestra propia misericordia hacia los demás en nuestro esfuerzo por mantener vivo el espíritu del Jubileo: "Misericordiosos como el Padre.” Una vez más, que el Señor les conceda benditas temporadas de Adviento y Navidad y un Año Nuevo lleno de Sus bendiciones. Adviento es el tiempo litúrgico que abarca las cuatro semanas antes de Navidad. Va del do-mingo más próximo al 30 de noviembre, hasta

el 24 de diciembre. Adviento del latín adventus, que significa “Venida" nos recuerda que debemos estar siempre preparados para la venida gloriosa de Cris-to.

La temporada celebra la tan esperada y anticipada venida de Cristo al mundo en la plenitud de los tiem-pos, para gobernar triunfante en el cielo y en la tie-rra, así como cuando vino como un bebé Salvador, cuyo nacimiento celebramos en Navidad. Y debido a que la temporada destaca la venida de Cristo, y no sólo su nacimiento, es algo más que un tiempo de preparación para la Navidad. Así, el Adviento señala que la cuestión no es sí Jesús regresará a juzgar a vivos y a muertos, sino cuándo.

El tiempo de Adviento llegó a existir hacia la mitad del siglo VI . Al principio, el tiempo de Adviento se determinó que fueran los seis domingos previos a la Navidad . Después, esto se reduce a cuatro domin-gos por el Papa San Gregorio Magno (591 604 )

Antes del siglo séptimo, la Navidad era una fiesta secundaria, especialmente en Roma, pero llegó a adquirir cada vez mayor importancia, por lo que el tiempo de Adviento se desarrolló de una manera similar. El Adviento se hizo más solemne y su enfo-que cambió. De ser sólo un tiempo de preparación para la Navidad, se convirtió en un momento de mi-rar hacia el retorno glorioso del Señor.

El Adviento refleja esta doble perspectiva de la es-pera de la segunda venida de Jesús, primer seg-mento del 1er domingo de Adviento hasta el 16 de dic., y la preparación inmediata para la fiesta de Na-vidad del 17 al 24 de diciembre.

La Iglesia Católica resume Adviento diciendo: "Cuando la Iglesia celebra la liturgia de Adviento cada año, se hace presente la antigua esperanza del Mesías, pues al participar en la larga prepara-ción de la primera venida del Salvador, los fieles renuevan el ardiente deseo de su segunda venida”

La primera intervención de Dios en nuestra historia no llegó en la forma de un instante o un aconteci-miento estremecedor de la tierra, sino que Dios es-

cogió venir al mundo como todos lo hacen: nacer como un bebé en medio de un mundo caótico. Por nuestra impaciencia humana esto parece una ma-nera muy lenta para traer la salvación al mundo. Pero Dios no siempre elige la respuesta fácil o la solución rápida.

Sin embargo, con su encarnación, Él demuestra un compromiso total con la esencia misma de la hu-manidad. Un compromiso con su día a día, con las rutinas y desafíos, un compromiso con la humani-dad desde la cuna hasta la tumba y aún más allá. Y en la misma forma de la encarnación, Dios viene a nosotros día a día, a través de la acción del Espí-ritu, a través de su Palabra y los Sacramentos, tor-nando lo ordinario en extraordinario, reparando lo que está roto o partido, redimiendo y restaurando el pasado, el presente y el futuro, cualquiera que sea.

Este es un mensaje que es claro en la lectura de los Evangelios: Historia, mito, creencia e imaginación se unen para crear una visión, la fuerza que no es-tá en tratar de entender los detalles de la segunda venida de Cristo, sino en vislumbrar el mensaje de salvación y la sanación que se realiza. No debemos perder nuestro tiempo preocupándonos por el tiem-po de la llegada de Dios o distrayéndonos en lo que podría suceder en el ínterim.

El reino de Dios ya ha entrado en nuestro mundo a través de la encarnación, muerte y resurrección de Cristo. Su Reino está cerca y viene así como ya lle-gó, aunque no plenamente. Debemos permanecer vigilantes y conscientes para estar preparados para la venida final, que es probable que llegue en cual-quier momento.

El amor de Dios se comparte con la gracia poco co-mún, en un mundo tan desesperadamente necesita-do de ese amor. Es a través de nosotros, y a través de la Iglesia muy imperfecta que lleva su nombre, que su amor y gracia siguen llegando y se extien-den en Adviento y durante todo el año cristiano, mientras esperamos Su venida en gloria.

Hay mucho acerca de Adviento para disfrutar, como las coronas de Adviento con sus cuatro velas que se encienden todos los domingos y una para el día de Navidad. Mas en medio de la iglesia, sabemos que así como nos preparamos para la Navidad, así tene-mos que prepararnos para recibir a Jesús.

SENIORS EN ACCIÓN

¡Qué divertido es este ministerio! Se reúnen 3 veces a la semana: martes, miércoles y jueves de 9:00 a.m. a 11:30 a.m. Mientras que algunos de los parroquianos está jugando bingo o dominó, los otros están haciendo

ejercicios de Zumba. Cada semana son visitados por profesionales de tecnología, nutrición, peluquerías, etc.. Celebran cumpleaños, cantan, bailan e interactúan entre sí. Este ministerio mantiene a nuestros mayores sintiéndose jóvenes y saludables. La Coordinadora Manuelita Placa, está a su disposición para responder cualquier pregunta. ¡Regístrese hoy! Se reúnen en la sala BVM en la Iglesia. Le animamos a que los visite.

CLASE DE INGLÉS PARA LA COMUNIDAD HAITIANA

El Sr. Yves Coles, un maestro jubilado, que recientemente se trasladó a nuestro estado del Sol, nos honra con su experiencia como maestro. Ha sido un educador dedicado por más de 25 años. En los últimos 10 años el Sr. Cole ofrecia clases a adultos hispanos en la ciudad de Nueva York. Su pasión por la enseñanza lo ha traído aquí a nuestra comunidad y ahora enseñará inglés a nuestra comunidad Haitiana, los viernes de 4:00 p.m. a 6:00 p.m.

Si usted es Haitiano y le gustaría aprender el idioma Inglés, esta es su oportunidad de unirse a los que ya han comenzado.

MANOS DE MISERICORDIA

Un ministerio muy especial que se compromete a ayudar a la Fundación Social de Niños sin Hogar de "Camino de María" dirigida por la Hermana Luz Dary Cardona ubicada en Colombia. La fundación ayuda a los niños de 2-16 años que son huérfanos. “Hands of Mercy Ministries” ayuda a través de rifas, donaciones, etc., coopera con la fundación con algunas de sus necesidades. FORMACION DE FE Esperamos que muchos de ustedes ya conozcan a Cristy Smith. Ella es nuestra nueva empleada a cargo del Departamentode Formación de Fe.

Para aquellos de ustedes que aún no la han conocido, ella viene a nosotros desde Atlanta, Georgia, donde

ocupó el cargo de Coordinadora de Formación de Fe en la Iglesia Católica de Santa Teresa. Ella creció en la Florida Central antes de moverse por el mundo como una esposa militar. Ella tiene una licenciatura y una maestría de una universidad acreditada, tanto en Criminología y Psicología Forense. Estos últimos meses Cristy ha abrazado a nuestra comunidad y ha sentido el amor de nuestra congregación. Tiene una política de puerta abierta, así que, si alguna vez te encuentras con una necesidad de Formación de Fe, RCIA o una pregunta de Bautismo, estará más que feliz de ayudarte y servirte de cualquier manera.

Nacida en la República Dominicana, criada en la ciudad de Nueva York, habla español e inglés. La Señora Rosalynn Fernández, llegó a la Comunidad de Santa Catalina de Siena en enero de 2016. Su experiencia como Coordinadora de Form-

ación de la Fe en la Iglesia Católica Romana St. Benedict Joseph Labre en Nueva York, la califica para servir y continuar su misión de fe aquí en nuestra comunidad

Rosalynn se ha embarcado en un viaje con Formación de Fe en Santa Catalina de Siena y es Coordinadora del programa RICA. La mayoría de nosotros la conocemos. Si usted no la ha conocido, su política de puerta abierta le permite visitarla, compartir ideas o hacer cualquier pregunta que usted pueda tener sobre RICA o Formación de Fe.

First of all, we take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to the 523 families that made their pledge to Our Catholic Appeal Campaign 2016. In the other hand, Our Catholic Appeal Campaign for the year 2016 is rapidly approaching to the end and based on our current participation, we still have 2,684 families that may assist our parish to meet the goal with a contribution of $366.00 which represents $1.00 per day. For your convenience, if you have not contributed yet, we have included an envelope for your participation on this noble cause.

Now is the time to share and give thanks to God in a charitable manner for the many blessings received throughout the year. In the year of Mercy your contribution will be greatly appreciated.

Marthe et Marie aiment toutes les deux le Sei-gneur, mais elles l’expri-ment de manière diffé-rente. Marthe, qui préparait le repas du Seigneur, était

occupée à faire beaucoup de choses, tandis que Marie a préféré s’asseoir aux pieds de Jé-sus pour l’écouter. Les deux occupations étaient bonnes. Mais laquelle montrait son amour pour le Maître ? Le véritable amour veut le bonheur de l’être aimé. Celui qui aime va chercher par-dessus tout à faire ce qui fait plaisir à l’autre, à faire ce qu’il veut que l’on fasse. L’amour ne s’impose pas : il ne cherche pas à faire les choses à sa façon. Celui qui veut dicter sa loi à l’autre n’a qu’un amour égoïste qui cherche, peut être inconsciemment et avec les meilleures intentions du monde, à manipuler l’autre selon son bon plaisir. Dans ce récit, Marthe, avec beaucoup de bonne vo-lonté et bien des efforts, voulait recevoir Jésus à sa façon. Marie sait que le Seigneur est ve-nu apporter la Bonne Nouvelle. Il veut annon-cer le Royaume de Dieu : elle se met donc à l’écouter. Et moi, comment est-ce que j’ex-prime mon amour pour le Christ ? . La prière est essentielle pour la vie de notre vocation chrétienne. Chacune de nos journées est remplie de devoirs, d’engage-ments, de choses à faire. Nous devons bou-ger, agir. Alors, comment combiner ces deux aspects ? En reprenant Marthe et en donnant raison à Marie, Jésus nous indique clairement quel exemple suivre. Le secret d’une vie chré-tienne authentique, harmonieuse et géné-reuse, se trouve ici : Dieu doit être à la pre-mière place dans nos cœurs et nous devons agir en conséquence. Si nous donnons la prio-rité à notre amitié avec Jésus, les œuvres sui-vront. Notre vie de prière doit donner la direc-tion et l’énergie à notre action. « La prière est le fondement de notre apostolat car sans une relation avec la personne de Jésus-Christ, nous ne pouvons rien faire. Nous communiquerons le Christ à d’autres dans la mesure où nous l’aimons et nous l’écou-tons . Si notre visage et nos actions ne re-flètent pas une vie

ntimement pétrie de l’esprit de l’Evangile, les gens ne nous accepteront pas. » (Père Martial Maciel, LC, 2 novembre 1974) Jésus trouve t’il dans mon cœur l’attitude de Marie ? Chaque jour le Seigneur veut que nous soyons attentifs à sa voix de sorte que nous devenions ses instruments efficaces en menant à bien la mis-sion particulière qu’il a préparée pour nous. L’écoute est si importante. Parfois en parlant trop nous empêchons le Seigneur de nous parler. Un jour Mère Teresa a dit : ". Dans le silence de nos coeurs il nous parlera, si nous cessons de parler et nous lui donnons une chance, si nous écoutons, si nous nous taisons." Le Saint Père a écrit sur ce passage d’évangile : "une chose seulement est exigée, et c’est l’attitude de Marie, écouter les paroles de Jésus, tourner les yeux et le coeur vers lui, non seulement attentif mais également réceptif à ce qu’il dit" (JPII le 17 juillet 1983). Est-ce que je suis réceptif à ce que Jésus veut me dire ? Est-ce que j’écoute vraiment, c’est-à-dire est ce que je mets en pratique ce qu’il me murmure au fond de mon cœur ? Ou bien son message glisse t’il sur moi sans effet ? Donc mes frères et Soeur une nouvelle année liturgique commence le 2 décembre avec le 1er dimanche de l’AVENT. Nous avons quatre semaines pour nous préparer à accueillir le Christ : non seulement l’accueillir dans la fête de Noël mais aussi apprendre à l’accueillir dans notre vie, tout au long de l’année. Les fiches liturgiques présentent les moments de la messe où nous nous préparons à cette rencontre avec le Seigneur. Il est intéressant de les relier entre eux : la « statio » avant la messe, la préparation pénitentielle, la pré-paration des dons, le geste de paix avant de com-munier. Nous sommes un peuple appelé à accueillir le Mes-sie à la suite de Marie ; nous avons vocation à nous ouvrir à tous nos frères et surtout aux plus petits auxquels Jésus s’identifie. Seigneur, aide-moi à me concentrer sur la seule chose nécessaire. Au milieu de toutes les activités qui m’occuperont aujourd’hui, ne me permets pas de tomber dans l’activisme et d’oublier ta présence.
