Goals

Ensure tank and piping are safe from corrosion

Only applies to the portion of the UST system that routinely contains product. Tank and product piping only.

First step for Operator

Figure out the construction material Tank Piping

Figure out cathodic protection option Fiberglass or non-metallic Galvanic Impressed current

If non-metallic

Confirm through documentation for inspector.

That’s it.

If Galvanic

Provide inspector with any previous test results – Look for them in your previous inspection report.

Have a cathodic protection test done if more than 3 years since last test.

Keep track of test results So long as there is enough cathodic

protection, nothing more to do

If Impressed Current

Find your 60 day rectifier log or start one. Provide inspector with any previous test

results and 60 day rectifier log. Have a cathodic protection test done if

more than 3 years since last test or as recommended by a Corrosion Expert.

Have rectifier checked and serviced, as needed.
