COST OPEN CALLCOST OPEN CALL

Since April 2006, COST has launched an Open Call for proposals, published in the Official Journal of the EU

The call is continuously open, and 2 “Collection Dates” per year are scheduled, from which a selection process is operated (next: Sept 24next: Sept 24thth 2010 2010).

A two stages selection scheme is implemented: pre-proposals are first collected, from which about 80 80 full proposals are invited for submission

About 3030 projects are finally selected per CD, i.e. 6060 new projects per year

Submission is operated on line through the COST Web site

Assessment of full proposals by an External Experts Panel (peer review)

Successful COST Action proposals can expect to start activities within 9 months Successful COST Action proposals can expect to start activities within 9 months after the collection dateafter the collection date

One of the Key features of COST is its openness towards the rest of the world on the basis of Mutual Benefit

Institutions from Non-COST countries can join an Action on a case by case basis once the mutual benefit has been ascertained, without the need of any formal arrangements at Government or Agency level

A bridge for Worldwide Collaboration in Science and Technology
