This 15 days tour is meant to be for high mountains lovers. With a progressive acclimatization we will reach our two mains aims which are, the Cotopaxi the highest active volcano in the world (5897m) and the Chimborazo called as well the Ecuador roof with its 6310 meters. Those two summits have got glaciers which technically are not very difficult but it is a big challenge because of the height. You will be accompanied by an Ecuadorian high mountain guide, member of the Aseguim (Ecuadorian association of mountains guides)
PROGRAM – Departure on Tuesdays from Quito
Note: We leave when possible, meals at your expense. Ecuador is a nice country for travelers who want to discover different experiences of taste. There are a huge variety of meals, gourmet restaurants or simply small dining places in markets and villages. Meals mentioned in the program are included and those not mentioned are left to your choice. Your guide and traveling companion will tell you interesting places or restaurants, and may also assist you in your discovery, if you wish. Day 1: COLONIAL QUITO – THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD MONUMENT
Breakfast. Visit of colonial Quito and Equatorial Line monument. Back
to Quito in the afternoon. Hotel in Quito.
B In Colonial Quito, we´ll go to the Panecillo, small hill overlooking Quito, on which stands the statue of the Virgen de Legarda and delimiting the colonial town of San Francisco de Quito. Then, we will go to the Independence Square, where is located the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace. Walking towards the Plaza de San Francisco, we stop at the Church of the Company of Jesus. Visit the Franciscan Monastery, Baroque monument located in Plaza San Francisco and visit the museum of religious art Fray Pedro Gocial which is right next door. In the Middle of the World, we will visit the site that represents the symbolic pass of the parallel Zero or Equator and its ethnographic museum. Also we will visit the Inti Nan museum showing some physical laws related to gravity and its influence and astronomical knowledge that Aboriginal groups Inca and Pre Inca had.

Day 2: OTAVALO
Breakfast. Departure to Otavalo. Visit of the famous and traditional market. Departure to San Clemente. Supper and
night the indigenous community of San Clemente.

Day 3 : IMBABURA - 4630 m
Breakfast - Climbing of Imbabura's volcano summit (4630 m). Box lunch. Return to Quito. Hotel in Quito. B L (Box lunch) Uneven: about 1400 m - 8h hike This 4630m extinct volcano is 112 km northeast of Quito. Its ascension is an excellent opportunity to start the acclimatization to altitude, this long trek to the summit of Imbabura will be an excellent souvenir of your first efforts in Ecuador.
Day 4: GUAGUA PICHINCHA – LASSO
Breakfast. Departure to the Pichincha, active volcano near Quito. Walking on the border of the rim to the top (4-5 hours - 4784 m alt.). Box lunch. Departure to Lasso. Dinner and hotel in Lasso. B L (Box lunch) D Uneven: From 500 m to 800 m - 4 to 6 h hike When we talk about of Pichincha, we do not reference a single volcano, but rather as two peaks that form this volcanic massive. Peaks are called Rucu Pichincha and Guagua Pichincha, which translated from Quichua
language means "Old" and "Child" The Guagua Pichincha is slightly taller of the two, despite calling the Child, its altitude is 4784 meters, while the Rucu has an altitude of 4627 meters. El Guagua was highly active between 1999 and 2001, emitting a thick cloud of ash over the city of Quito. During the ascent route to the summit, travelers can feel the smell of sulfur gases emanating from the crater, which recalls the recent activity of the volcano.

Day 5: ZUMBAHUA - QUILOTOA - CHUGCILAN
Breakfast. Departure in private vehicle to Zumbahua located in the heart of the Andes. Visit of Zumbahua’s market. Walking in the Quilotoa's crater (4 hours). Box lunch. Walk from Quilotoa to Chugchilán. Dinner and night in Lodge at Chugchilán. B L (Box lunch) D Elevation: 1000 m downhill and 400 m

Zumbahua market is known for its fair on Saturdays. On a clear day on the way to Zumbahua you can see the Cotopaxi cover with snow. In the typical market, you can see the vegetable stalls, people selling animals like horses and llamas, masks and other wood carvings created by local artisans. This market is not frequented by tourists; you can see women carrying goods on their heads and on the flames. You can find just as highly refined textiles made in sheep wool and alpaca wool, you will marvel at the scenery in one of the most traditional Andean lands. The Quilotoa Volcano is a unique site in Ecuador with more than 3 km. in diameter and a height difference of 320 m. between the edge of the crater and lagoon. The indigenous community living there offers lodging, thus maintaining closer contact with local people.
Day 6: CHUGCHILAN - LASSO
Breakfast. Walk in the surroundings of the village in the morning. Lunch at Chugchilán. Departure to Lasso. Dinner and hotel in Lasso. B L D
Day 7: TREKKING IN COTOPAXI
Breakfast. Departure to Cotopaxi's National Park. Ascent of Rumiñahui summit "The central Peak" (4640 m. and 6 hours walk). Picnic. Return to the campsite. Dinner. Camping. B L (Box lunch) D Elevation: 740 m - 7 h hike Located in the province of Cotopaxi, 70 km from Quito, the park covers
an area of 33,400 hectares and includes camping areas and hiking trails. On the paramos and forests can be seen on occasion condors, ducks, caracaras, Andean gulls, pigeons and hummingbirds. As can be seen mammals as rabbits, white-tailed deer, foxes and weasels... Also, Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in the world; its summit is covered with eternal snow.

Day 8: ICE SCHOOL AT COTOPAXI
Breakfast. Arrival by private vehicle to 4500 meters and then walk to the Jose Ribas refuge (4810m). Ice school to learn the various techniques needed on the glacier with your guide. Box lunch during the activity on the ice. Return to 3800 m and installation on your hotel / lodge. Dinner and overnight in Tambopaxi Lodge. B L (Box lunch) D
Day 9: CLIMBING OF COTOPAXI - 5897 m
Breakfast. Drive up to 4500 meters of altitude and then on foot to Jose Ribas refuge (4800m). Lunch at the refuge. Glacier school with the guide. Dinner. Climbing of the Cotopaxi by night. B L (Box lunch) D Uneven: 1100 m - 8 h hike Cotopaxi volcano, the second highest peak in Ecuador with 5897m is located south of Quito. This is the highest active volcano in the world and this ascension is a beautiful goal. Provide for about 8 hours of walking (refuge - summit - refuge). The great classic and inevitable in Ecuador.
Day 10: BAÑOS
Breakfast. Departure to Baños. Rest in Baños. Hotel in Baños. B Baños is a charming resort site, with its hot springs, located at the gateway of the Amazon and the edge of the Andes. The beauty of the place and the hospitality of its inhabitants make of Baños a popular destination. Nestled in the midst of a green valley, the city, surrounded by forests, waterfalls and at the foot of the active volcano Tungurahua 5016m, offers lush vegetation. We will visit the impressive waterfall Pailón del Diablo. Beside the Manto de la Novia waterfall, also cross the river Pastaza in Cable cart, conveyance of the local people living near the river surrounded by cliffs. If weather permits, we see almost constant activity of the Tungurahua volcano.

Day 11: RÍO BLANCO
Breakfast. Departure by private car to the Rio Blanco Indigenous community. This community is one of the various that inhabited higher on Ecuadorian Paramo. On the way, we can enjoy of the beautiful Andean landscapes. Lunch. Camping at 4,200 meters of altitude. Dinner and overnight in the cabins of the community. B L (Box lunch)
Day 12: CLIMBING OF CARIHUAIRAZO - 5116 m
Breakfast. Ascent to Carihuairazo's summit (5116 m). Box lunch. Departure to Riobamba. Hotel in Riobamba. B L (Box lunch) Uneven: 916 m - 7 h hike This volcano is located on the western mountain range and 10 km from Chimborazo. No presents greater difficulty, the region provides magnificent and beautiful view of the nearby peaks.
Day 13: ANDEAN TRAIN
Breakfast. Departure from Riobamba in private vehicle to the city of Alausí to board the train. Travel on the picturesque "Tren de los Andes" between Alausi, Sibambe, Alausi, route more precisely called "The Devil's Nose". Course of 12 km and a length of 2.30 hours. Return to Riobamba. Day 14: CLIMBING OF CHIMBORAZO - 6310 m
Breakfast. Drive up to the Chimborazo's refuge (4800 meters) by private vehicle. Ascent to Whymper's refuge (5000 meters). Picnic and dinner at the refuge. Climbing of the Chimborazo during the night. B L (Box lunch) D Elevation: 1310 m - 10 h hike Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve: For several years, a reintroduction program of vicuñas and llamas began with the cooperation of indigenous communities living in these areas of the paramo. They are very easy to observe. In addition, the Chimborazo, the highest peak of Ecuador 6310 m. is a volcano that is a great attraction for mountaineers and for
those who appreciate the beauty of the landscapes.
Day 15: QUITO
