Tristan da Cunha (Again)

The island came again into the limelight, when it was visited by the n1.s:. " TJISAJ)i;\:KE" ' on D:.~cmbcr 4th ::1955 upon spt·cial rcquestt in order to pick up an injured Englishman - a str~tcher case - who "had to be transported to CapelO\Vn for medical trcatmcm.

The ship had meanwhile prepared a slabhatch to be lowered onto the rowing boat by means of a derrick, in

As the boat appeared to be of a very light ·eonmucrion, it was thought to be too risky to lower the slabhatrh on it.
