In March, brothers partnered with the sisters of Pi Beta Phi to host a door-to-door food drive. Both organizations trekked neighborhoods all over Pullman to collect canned food items. Over a span of two hours, 257 pounds of non-perishable items were collected and donated to the Pullman Child Welfare Food Bank.

In April, brothers joined the sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta to host a wiffle ball tournament. Philanthropy Chair Jose Leyva '18 was pleased with the turnout, adding, "Six fraternities and sororities on campus participated and helped us raise around $300. We hope to plan more successful, fun events like this in the near future." All funds were donated to CASA for Children, Kappa Alpha Theta's international philanthropy. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers work with children who were removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

Major at WSU: Economics Hometown: Longview, WA Current Residency: Longview, WA

Neal Deckman '74 serves as the current President of Delta Phi Gamma House Corporation. He served as a member of the Board and chair of the most recent remodel. Neal continues to play an integral part in the House Corporation's ongoing investment in rental properties.

Neal graduated from WSU in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He spent the next ten years in customer service with the airline industry. When airline work proved too transient for a growing family, Neal relocated to Longview, Washington where he obtained his automotive technology degree and became ASE Master Certified.

In 1988, he started an impressive 26 year career with the Cowlitz County Department of Public Transportation as the Road Operations Manager. There, he was in charge of road and vehicle maintenance for the county.

Neal is married to his wife of 27 years, Kathy, and has two grown daughters. He is looking forward to retirement and using his fifth wheel trailer and fishing boat. He resides in Longview and is mighty proud to be a FIJI!

What does the House Corporation (HC) do exactly? The main duty is to plan for the future of Pi Mu and it looks very bright.

To begin, the HC owns the chapter house and two adjacent properties on Opal Street, in addition to College Hill rental properties. The estate value totals more than $3 million. The most recent purchase is a six bedroom property with a price tag of $290,000, rented for $3,000 a month, or $500 per bedroom.

The HC's goal is to pay off the balance of all properties by 2028, tear down the rentals located on Opal and Howard, then build a new chapter house.

The year 2028 may seem far away, but Pi Mu will have the opportunity to move forward with properties that are leased and a house that is paid for. The chapter is alive and well thanks to the hard work of the House Corporation and outstanding collegiate brothers. Next time you are in Pullman, make sure you take a tour of all rental properties owned by the Pi Mu House Corporation.

Pi Mu is pleased to announce the newly formed Board of Chapter Advisors. The first meeting was held May 8, 2015 at the chapter house.

Ryan Minnerly '14 was elected chair of the board and works as a sports reporter for the local newspaper in Othello. Additional members include Timbo Pham '14, Steve Lamberson Washington '74, Gary E. Schell '70, Uri Farkas Montana '98 and Gus Kittson '78.

The goal of the board is to provide further assistance to the chapter in the following areas: brotherhood, philanthropy, ritual and finance. The goal is to connect graduate brothers with collegiate brothers as mentors in each of these areas.

If you would like to participate, please contact Gary E. Schell '70 at [email protected].
