Patrick Gill proves his point as Townsville win second successive shut out against Perth-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Townsville,NSW- Much of the talk coming out of Townsville coming into this season was how Patrick Gill would take them to another level. Because the Marlins were so vocal about this Gill had his critics and many had said his season so far had been anything but strong. He needed JP Gutherson they said. Well the Marlins are going from strength to strength and tonight more than ever it was Gill who was the driving force. His passes were accurate and whilst he controlled the game giving Perth no easy chances, when he needed to he produced the moments of brilliance that mattered.

The Marlins have now shut out both Perth and the Gold Coast in successive weeks. Perth tried to run the ball and spent much of their plays targeting Rookie Shaun Marshall. This was reasonably effective but when they were forced to throw the ball James Zelezniak really struggled.

The Marlins out together a great opening drive with a good mix of run and pass. Gill finished it off when he found Brooke McDonnell in the corner. Zelezniak was then intercepted by Tyler Mansour, then by Paul Sezer and finally by Josh Ciraldo leading to a conservative 10-0 lead at the half.

Gill stepped it up in the third and he hit touchdown passes to Scott Ahearn and Benjamin Faust. Henerai Lowe kicked a field goal to capped off the impressive 27-0 win. "I want to talk about the defence" said Coach Mark Hohn. "No matter who you are playing to concede no points in back to back games is amazing. In fact it is just 10 points in three games". "They were too good simple as that" was all Larry Bowie could offer.
