See the prayer schedule below and look to this week’s bulletin insert or online for the novena of the Corpus Christi that you can begin this weekend, so we may all come together as one in prayer for our parish.

WHAT IS ADORATION AND WHY SHOULD I TRY IT?Adoration is…• A time of silence in a world filled with noise• A time to love and give thanks• A time to talk with Jesus, to tell him your worries, to ask for His help• A time to listen• A time to read spiritual books and the bible• A time to recite prayers: Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Liturgy of the Hours• A time to get to know Jesus better

Celebrate ourParish Feast Day

this Weekend!

In Adoration you might…• Find it difficult to hear Jesus, but remember, Elijah heard the Lord not in

the wind or fire, but only in the gentle whisper.• Fall asleep, but remember, the disciples fell asleep while praying in the

garden with Jesus; he forgave them & asked them to pray with Him again.• Find yourself distracted, but when you do just simply say, “I will return to

my prayer now.”• Find yourself bored, don’t worry. Gaze on the Host, realize that Jesus is

present, waiting to listen to you. Try saying an act of Spiritual Communion:

“Good friends find pleasure in one another’s company. Let us know pleasure in the company of our best Friend, a Friend who can do everything for us, a friend who loves us beyond measure. Here in the BlessedSacrament we can talk to him straight from the heart.”

––St Alphonsus de Liguorion

“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.Never permit me to be separated from You.

“Adoration is an hour of quiet conversation with Jesus, in which you can see and feel the presence of God.”

(Maureen)“While Adoration is a new practice for me, it has been a great way to recharge the spiritual batteries each week. Please consider giving it a try.” (Dave)

All are welcome to join us at our regularly scheduled adoration hours:…• Adoration at Holy Martyrs: Mondays, 8am-8pm• Adoration at St. Gregory: Fridays, 8am-12:30pmWe have a great group of parishioners who have committed to spending time each week in Adoration. Without them, Adoration wouldn’t be open for those who want to stop in to spend time with the Lord. We, as a parish, are grateful to them for their gift of time. If you feel called to join the Adoration Ministry, please call the office at 847-6890 or email us at [email protected].

Corpus Christi – Body and Blood of ChristOur Liturgical color is: GREEN

“The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist”Today is the feast day of our parish, Parish of the HOLYEUCHARIST! As Catholic Christians, we believe in the real presence ofJesus’ Body and Blood in Holy Communion. We speak and believe this truth when we recite our Creed at every Mass. This is a great week to think about this amazing miracle and gift and where we stand in our own belief! In all of today’s Bible readings, we see actions of “give & take”, all done in God’s name:• In the Old Testament, King Melchizedek brings out bread and wine

and he blesses Abraham who in turn gives him one-tenth of his riches.• In the 2nd reading, in his letter to the people of Corinth, St. Paul

brings their attention back to the Last Supper where the Apostles received Jesus’ own body and blood for the first time and share Jesus’ gift with all Christians, through all of history and now, in the sacrament of the Eucharist.

• In the Gospel, 5,000 people give Jesus their complete attention and in return, they receive food for their souls through his truthful teachings and food for their bodies (fish and bread).

WE PRAY: “Our God, thank you for your Most Holy Body and Blood in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. May I never forget you. Holy Spirit, help me to grow in faith and belief.”WE TALK: Do I believe in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist? Is this an easy or difficult belief to understand? If I am not sure, who could I ask to help me understand this belief? WE ACT: If I have questions about the Eucharist, I will ask someone I trust about it. When I am at Mass, I will give God all my attention.
