ILLEGAL DUMPING There will no longer be dumping allowed at Maxwelton. This also applies for the Town Common around the township of Richmond itself. If anyone proceeds to do so, fines will apply. SOIL / SAND Council has a stockpile of sand /soil that the public can access – free of charge at the back of Simpson Street adjacent the Lib-erty Fuel Depot. Sand & soil from this location may only be collected by hand at request – no machines to collect. GARBAGE COLLECTION POLICY Council has resolved to twice a week rubbish collections on Monday and Thursday permanently. Please put bins on the road with lid opening facing the road. Disposing of tree limbs and other garden trimmings on the footpath by the side of the road for council to collect is not allowed. Garden trimmings and tree branches must be taken to the dump by those disposing of them, council will only collect such bulk items if a private works order is requested first. SEWERAGE SYSTEM Once again Council asks that foreign objects are not flushed into the sewerage system. This occurring problem is causing ma-jor damage and outages that could easily be avoided. BARKING COLLARS Please be advised you can hire Barking Collars at the Richmond Shire Council for $5 per week—with a refundable Bond of $50. POOL The pool is now reopened Monday - Friday 6.00am - 7.30am and 2.30pm - 7.00pm Saturday - 9.00am - 11.00am and 3.00pm - 7.00pm Sunday - 3.00pm - 7.00pm RICHMOND SHIRE COUNCIL TERTIARY BURSARY Students in the Richmond Shire who are thinking about pursuing tertiary studies to obtain a degree, but need some financial assistance to realise their goal, please consider applying for the Shire’s Tertiary Bursary. IMPORTANT COMMUNITY BROADCAST INFORMATION
Council would like to advice that the email database is one of Councils methods of dissem-inating information to our community.
As a courtesy to our residents we will also send through any change of business hours on behalf of local businesses. We will also as a once off – notify residents if a new business
comes to town (if that is the request of the new Business).
As a Local Government Entity, Council can not favour one business over another, therefore we are not permitted to send through notifications of Specials, Package Deals or similar.
Thank you in advance for your understanding on this matter.
COMMUNITY DROUGHT SUPPORT
Funding is currently available for clubs, organisations or individuals who wish to conduct events that add to our social calendar and promote participation and community connected-ness. Applications will be considered monthly at the General Meeting of Council until all funds are expended. A brief outline of what you hope to achieve and the amount you re-quire is all that you need. Funds do have to be acquitted 8 weeks after the conclusion of
the event. Clubs with outstanding acquittals from 2015 and 2016 will be ineligible to apply until those acquittals are received.
ANZAC DAY 2017
Council would like to thank the Richmond community for the wonderful attendance at the recent Anzac Day Services. The addition of the Anzac themed Fire Pit was a Country ver-sion of the Eternal Flame seen in larger centres and was very popular with all those that at-
tended the Dawn Service. We hope to have two fire pits for the 2018 Service.
Thank you to everyone who marched. Due to roadworks the traditional route was altered, this did pose a challenge for some, however to reiterate what Cr Kuhl said “ Our Diggers
walked much further and under worse conditions”. The traditional route will be re-instated for 2018.
Cobb & Co Coach—Cambridge Downs Heritage Display Stables
The full restored Cobb and Co Coach has been returned to Richmond after 3.5 years away. The Coach will be housed in the Cambridge Downs Heritage Display Stables. Cur-
rently the coach is not on display as it does require some accessories fitted. The Cam-bridge Heritage Display Centre is closed due to the roadworks. Once the road is re-opened
and the Coach is fitted out, we will notify the community.
