Holland Elementary School Jared Box Project For the Travis Manion Foundation Operation Legacy Friday, April 20, 2018 April 6, 2018 To the Holland Elementary Community, On Friday, April 20 th , all classes at Holland Elementary will participate in the Jared Box Project as part of our recognition of the Travis Manion Foundation’s Operation Legacy. The Jared Box Project is a service learning opportunity for our students to give back to the community, specifically to young patients at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. The Travis Manion Foundation’s Operation Legacy is held annually to honor our nation’s fallen heroes by serving the local community. At Holland, we take seriously the Foundation’s motto of, “If not me, then who,” and hope to instill a spirit of giving and compassion in our students. Holland Elementary classes will create Jared Boxes to be distributed to children who receive treatment at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Each Jared Box is filled with games, toys, stuffed animals, and activities. The boxes symbolize the importance of play and are filled with well wishes, hope, and love. Last year Holland Elementary delivered over 180 boxes to St. Christopher’s. The students will work with their classmates to collect items for the box that they will design and fill. A list of suggested donation is on the back of this page. All items you donate need to be small enough to fit in a shoe box; no food items may be included.
