1. GENERAL MANAGER

1.1 Sharing of Returning Officers

The NSW Electoral Commission had advised its intention to share Returning Officers, and their returning offices, for the September 2020 local government elections. This is being done to reduce the cost of conducting the election. Hunter’s Hill and Lane Cove Councils are proposed to be grouped together, although the LGA in which the returning office will be located has not yet been indicated. As this resource sharing initiative will help keep costs down, we have advised the Electoral Commission that we are happy with the proposal. Further discussion regarding the location of the returning office is anticipated.

2.1 Coulter Street Festival - on today from 5pm

As part of the Love Gladesville partnership, our neighbours at the City of Ryde will be hosting a Street Party today. “Head over to Coulter Street and wind down for the weekend with live music, market stalls, food trucks and more! Grab a drink from the pop up bar and lounge on the illuminated furniture while listening to gigs by local artists Jess Stillone and Ted Nash, as well as the Urban Legends. No need to organise a babysitter because the kids will be entertained by an inflatable obstacle course, available until 8pm. Don't head off too early because illuminated stilt walkers, Birds of Paradise, will light up the evening with their colourful costumes and dancing prowess. You'll also be able to collect a gift bag full of special offers from local businesses. Gift bags are limited so remember to grab yours quickly on the day.” HHC has supported the inclusion of Hunters Hill businesses in the event, such as La La Lynnie’s and Vie Vie.

C

CcoCouncillors may recall at the recent 2 day strategy session, we filmed a short piece to camera asking each councillor what do you love about Hunters Hill, and examples of work you’ve been proud of in your term. The purpose of the video is to promote both the current body of council and the role of a councillor. This video will be uploaded to our Youtube channel and shared in all media channels across the next few days. Please view here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IL6wxpKjLVOgIE-cijl11zxCNAWU-NVs/view?usp=sharing Councillors will be sent the head shot that was taken on the day; we would encourage you to use it on your social media platforms and LinkedIn accounts.

3.3 Bus Shelter Works on Ryde Road

Work has commenced this week to improve the footpath leading up to the bus shelter at 51 Ryde Road. The new bus shelter was installed at an elevated level to improve accessibility for bus passengers, as a result the adjacent footpath also required redesign to improve the grades on approach to the Bus Stop. The existing footpath was uneven and sloping, making it difficult for some pedestrians to use. The footpath was poured on Thursday, and the project is expected to be completed by Tuesday 10th March.
