Country music superstar, Emmylou Harris, and her long-standing musical partner, Rodney Crowell, to perform in Gstaad
Gstaad, 30 March 2021 – now more than ever! The organising committee is very confident that this year’s Country Night Gstaad will go ahead as planned on 10 and 11 September. Emmylou Harris will be the highlight of this 32nd edition. The winner of 14 Grammies is coming to Switzerland with her touring band, The Red Dirt Boys. In addition to the country music superstar, Rodney Crowell, Aaron Watson and Philipp Fankhauser will be performing at the country weekend. Official advance bookings are being taken effective immediately.
Having sold more than 15 million albums and won 14 Grammies, there is no doubt that Emmylou Harris can rightful-ly be called a country music superstar. Born in Alabama in 1947, the country music singer is one of the biggest legends on the American music scene. “Getting Emmylou Harris to perform here was a big coup. I am extremely delighted to present her in Gstaad again after 28 years,” says OC President, Marcel Bach. In addition to Emmylou Harris, her long-standing musical partner, Rodney Crowell, is also performing in the Bernese Oberland. Emmylou and Rodney have been making music together for 40 years – Crowell was the guitarist and duet partner in Harris’s legendary Hot Band. The exceptional singer will certainly perform several duets with Emmylou Harris in Gstaad. Their joint album “Old Yellow Moon” was awarded the Best Americana Album Grammy in 2014.
The charismatic self-made man, Aaron Watson, has already been in the music business for more than 20 years. In 2015, his album “The Underdog” catapulted to number 1 on the country music album charts. Watson combines traditional honky-tonk with modern sound and has released 16 albums during his career. His last album, “American Soul”, came out in January 2021. The fourth part is filled by the famous Swiss blues musician, Philipp Fankhauser. Anyone who experienced his performance at the Country Night Gstaad 2015 knows that Philipp will certainly suc-cessfully bridge the gap to the country music fans. The man with the expressive, smoky voice wins audiences over with his big emotions. We look forward to seeing him again.
