COURAGE

WHY AM I COURAGEOUS?

I was born with Spina Bifida.

This means when I was born, my spine had a hole in it, so I had surgery.

I can walk, but usually with my crutches.

Last winter I grew very quickly, and this caused big problems with my spine again.

I had to have courage this summer to go to the hospital. This is what happened.

I WENT TO SEE THE DOCTOR MANY TIMESMy back and stomach hurt

My legs were getting weak

I HAD A BIG SURGERY DAYThey put tubes in my hands to help me sleep.

When I woke up, I played with my computer.

I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR EIGHT DAYS!I had some nice visitors, and I slept a lot

I played with legos

I HAD LOTS OF THERAPY

…at the hospital …and at home

I AM HAPPY I HAD COURAGE TO HAVE SURGERY

• I feel BETTER

• I am STRONG

• I am HAPPY

• I am BLESSED

• I feel GREAT !
