Location of some of LIVING LANGUAGE HOST SCHOOLS:

C onducted in regular French private

boarding schools, this course is designed to complement the Leaving Cert syllabus in the context of a real French immersion and guaran-tees progress in both oral and written French. An exam held on arrival matches the Irish student to his/her corresponding French class.

Its principal aim is to give each student a strong foundation in both grammar and communication skills (oral and aural).

High motivation is a prerequisite as French is the vehicular language and total participation in classes is expected. A final individual pro-gress report is provided.

Each group consists of approx. 12 to 18 students of similar levels with 2 teachers. The students work in smaller sub-groups of 6 to 9 students for most classes. These very small classes maximise personal atten-tion and allow our experienced native teachers to attend to the particular problems and needs of each individual student.

The timetable is adapted to the French school schedule. Home-work includes extra-curricular tasks: Cinema, videos, reading, French TV news, surveying, internet research, writing short stories etc. Students are sometimes requested to attend a regular class at the French school.

W o r k i n g d o c u m e n t s , such as the G r a m m a i r e Progressive du Français and M o s a ï q u e , plus our own Manual, with drills adapted to the student’s level, consolidate progress.

Most French private schools have classes until late June and this gives the Irish students the opportuni-ty to meet French pupils in their own environment and share some meals, break times and even sports with them. Sports and cultural activities depend on local availability: canoeing, zip-lining, basket ball, tennis, etc. French schools are mixed, with conservative dress code.
