The Doors are Open!!Stage 1 of our renovations is now complete and Annita and staff invite you to visit us in ournewly refurbished premises.

Our doors opened for the ‘new world’ on Monday 22nd March 2010.

Past and present students and friends of the college are encouraged to call in have a chat andsee what’s happening in the College.

The Autumm brochure will be available from 11th April and ENROLMENT DAY is on Saturday 17th April from 9am to 2pm.

All course fees paid on the day will attract a 10% discount. There will be lots of giveaways and light refreshments

throughout the day

Our renovations have been funded through the Community Education and Training element of the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education and Training. The Program is funded by the Department of Education, Employment

and Workplace Relations.

Business Development Officer Colin Harris joined our staff as our BusinessDevelopment Officer in February 2010. His role is to promote the various RCC services acrossthe Riverina to assist you in building yourbusiness through staff training, traineeships and employment services. HAIR & BEAUTY CO-ORDINATORVocational, Education and Training manager Sonia Hosie welcomesKim Frazier as the new Hair and Beauty schools co ordinator.

Kim brings to us a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked in the industry for the past 24 years. During this time shecompleted her apprenticeship and owned her own salon in Wagga.Currently Kim is working part time at a local hair and beauty salon and is studying Certificate IV in Hairdressing. During the course of her career she has attended many short courses to increase the depth of her knowledge within the industry including attending a Pivot Point cutting school in March this year.

Kim’s position will include teaching Certificate III in Hairdressing and she is looking forward to helping her students grow in knowledge and confidence.

MILLINERY PROFILEStudent Joanne Rolfe commenced studying millinery with tutor RoseOrgan (pictured) at RCC as a beginner in 2008.

Joanne says “I have always had a huge interest in millinery, particularly ofthe vintage variety and have been very fortunate in accessing the millinerycourse here at RCC. Rose has a wealth of knowledge with over 40 years ofteaching experience and it has been wonderful to have the opportunity totap into this knowledge.

There is an enormous amount of support within the millinery class with students studying at different skill levels sothat we all have the chance to bounce ideas off each other. This is an amazing learning opportunity for the beginnerthrough to the more advanced couture milliner”

Jo has recently created one-off pieces for Royal Ascot and designed for a fashion shoot in Sydney. Her uniquely vintage creations have also just picked up awards in the ACT at the Royal Canberra Show.

RCC students will be conducting workshops at the Wagga CityCouncil Chambers on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April todemonstrate their skills and knowledge to the community, and they will be showcasing their hats and headpieces at a FashionParade and Cocktail party at the Council Chambers on Friday 23rdApril. Tickets will be available for sale at the Council Chambers.

CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT

ENROLMENT POLICY• Enrolments are taken in order of receipt

as are names placed on a waiting list.• Minimum enrolments are predetermined

and when reached, ensure that a coursewill proceed.

• Maximum enrolments are predeterminedto ensure maximum enjoyment andlearning for each student.

• The College reserves the right to cancel acourse for insufficient enrolments or forany other reason. In such cases full feeswill be refunded.

• The College reserves the right to changecourse schedules if there is a change intutor or venue circumstances. However ifsuch changes mean that a student is nolonger able to attend the course, a transferto another course or a full refund will bemade available.

• The college will make every endeavour toaccommodate the needs of students witha disability. Please discuss suchcircumstances at the time of enrolment.

• An enrolment consists of a completedenrolment form accompanied by thecourse fee.

• A reservation is a booking notaccompanied by an enrolment form andcourse fee and will only be held for 3working days.

• The College reserves the right to refuse anenrolment if a previous breach of Collegepolicy has occurred by the individualwanting to enrol.

REFUND POLICY• Please choose carefully before booking a

course as Riverina Community Collegecannot accept responsibility for changesin student’s circumstances.

• Refunds will be made up to 3 days beforea course commences. An administrationfee of $20 will apply to all refunds. Afterthat time refunds will not be made.

• Students may request a transfer toanother course if we are notified at leastone week before the course start date.

• Once a course has commenced we regretwe cannot arrange a transfer to anothercourse.

• Where a course in cancelled by theCollege, full course fees will be refundedwithin 28 days of scheduled coursecommencement.

STUDENT FEEDBACK• In keeping with the College’s Mission

Statement, the College asks for feedbackfrom its clients, the students. “We createnew futures”.

• Feedback on courses can be done on thestudent Evaluation Sheets distributedduring the course.

COURSE CONFIRMATIONReceipts, information sheets and venue mapsare issued on enrolment. Students arecontacted by telephone if courses arecancelled and given the option of transferringto another course or of receiving a full refund.It is still the responsibility of the student toconfirm if their course is proceeding.For competencies and accredited courses,statements of attainment will be issued. Forqualifications from training packages,certificates at the appropriate level will beissued subject to successful completion andattainment of competency.General – You may apply for a Certificate ofParticipation for any course, providing youattend a minimum of 80% of the course. A feeof $5.50 applies to these Certificates ofParticipation.An assessment is required for each accreditedcourse that the College offers. If you do notagree with an assessment outcome, a writtensubmission may be made to the Collegestating reasons for grievance.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY• It is important to wear clothing and shoes

appropriate to the course and, in somecases, there are legal requirementsregarding protective clothing. Studentsare notified of such circumstances atenrolment.

• Students are asked to ensure that safetydirections are followed.

• Students are asked to think about theirown actions so as not to endanger thesafety of others.

• Students who do not pay attention toinstructions concerning safety will beasked to leave a course and in such cases,refunds will not be available.

• Please contact the CEO immediately if youhave any concerns about course safety.

COURSE EQUIPMENT & MATERIALSIn most cases students will be responsible forpurchasing their own course materials soplease allow for this cost when choosing acourse.

COLLEGE MEMBERSHIP• Members have a say in the running of

Riverina Community College with votingrights at the AGM.

• Membership shows that you support theCollege.
