Who is this course for? Experienced teachers with a high standard of English who wish to further develop their own language skills and learn about current trends in the use of English Participants who want to know about new trends and changes in modern English Course outcomes You will have: Increased awareness of recent changes and developments in English Improved English language competencies, including a greater knowledge of idiomatic and colloquial language. Greater awareness of a range of techniques and strategies for presenting and practising new language. Opportunities to develop and disseminate innovative teacher practice internationally. Course description Tuition (43 hours per two week course) All Bell Teacher Campus courses are delivered by highly experienced teacher trainers. The team includes a whole host of leading ELT experts and published educational authors. This is a practical, active and interactive course that explores current trends in English, provides opportunities for language development and practice and presents practical ideas and techniques for teaching language. You will learn up-to-date idiomatic and colloquial English, explore how the current cultural climate is affecting English and be more aware of changes in English pronunciation and grammar. You will also experience a variety of effective teaching strategies, activities and techniques that you can use with your own students in your own classroom. Topics covered on Contemporary English include: How English is affected by the cultural climate Language, gender and political correctness Lexical change and development: where new words come from and how they are formed Grammar change and the implications for teaching Slang, contemporary phrasal verbs and idioms Pronunciation: from RP to the English of the future Exploiting authentic materials for learning activities Each Course we run is toilored by our expert tutors to the participants so content may be adapted to best suit the needs of your group. Take the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) Choose to take the TKT at Bell Teacher Campus and gain an internationally recognised qualification, awarded by Cambridge English (part of the University of Cambridge). There is a small additional fee of £38 per module including postage for the certificate. Free exam preparation for the TKT is provided.
