COURSE IN PREVIEW: THESIS

Because the environment is fundamentally a social and cultural medium, environmental designers must understand how an environment affects people and how people can best create environments.

By employing critical thinking skills founded in cultural approaches, reading places within our culture, and understanding a professional’s role in support of society’s welfare designers can create environments that are more resilient, sustainable, engaging, and equitable.

If you have a learning disability, please let both James and your TA know as soon as possible so we can make appropriate accommodations.

To help the TAs with their workload, late papers are not accepted

To help you get used to writing, the first and second critical papers will be revised and the revised version will be the final grade

Course attendance is mandatory. If you miss more than 6 classes, your grade will be affected significantly, and you may be dropped from the course. Life on the street in the Hague, Netherlands

AN ALTERNATIVE CONCEPTION OF LIFE

“The order I am seeking is a rich, rolling, swelling, dying, lilting, singing, laughing, shouting crying, sleeping order. If we will only let this order guide our acts of building, the buildings that we make, the towns we help to make, will be the forests and the meadows of the human heart.”
