To Reach a solid intermediate level of English as a powerful communication tool.

To use English to learn about the world and acquire new and expanding existing knowledge.

Assume a critical posture towards information and their own and others’ opinions and views.

Develop skills such as writing process by planning, drafting revising and editing their own on others’ work

Course Objective: Students will be able to use models to write new types of articles. They will learn new skills for collection information to support their ideas such as internet, surveys and interviews. They will develop negotiation techniques to conduct peer review sessions in order to improve their articles.

Course Project: It’s new to me. Students will choose the article they want to include in the magazine. The editing committee will start to proofread articles and give feedback on how they improve them. The Graphic Design Committee will start on the magazine format. The marketing Committee will design the campaign to promote and launch the magazine.

Unit Objective: Students share anecdotes about incidents and transportation and learn how to sequence and make them interesting.

Unit Task: NO ONE WAS HURT! Students write a paragraph describing an anecdote related to transportation accidents and trips.

Portfolio Entry: Anecdote, action plan for Committees.

Unit Objective: : Students discuss differences between men and women regarding personal care and appearance.

Unit Task: WHAT’S YOUR OPINION ON…? Students will design and apply a survey on personal care products. Write a report using graphics.

Portfolio Entry: Survey format, graphic and survey report.

Unit Objective: Students discuss modern life and possible effects on people’s health: they will learn to give feedback and accept other’s opinions.

Unit Task: CHANGING LIFESTYLES Students write an informational article

about a health issue. Look for information on the web to support ideas.

Unit Objective: Students will share their opinions about the sections and design of the magazine and the message and emotions in may transmit. Make final decisions about the design and distribution of it.

Unit Task: GET DOWN TO WORK! Students will submit the article to the Editing

Committee. . Marketing committee present their ideas for banner or fliers. Graphic Design Committee will present the final proposal of layout. Design their promotional campaigns and also think of how they will get feedback from readers.

Portfolio Entry: Article submitted and Committees list of new tasks.
