THE STORY OF CIFA, FOURTH PART - FROM 1974 TO 1989

EN The innovative spirit of CIFA is reflected in the company choices: in the 70’s the Company created a powerhouse of young graduates, engineers who in the following years were to become the backbone of the company management: a generation of new technicians, who were taught the passion for the sector, its business values and the company spirit.In those years CIFA also developed a sales and service network: the product alone was not enough. Preparation and involvement were required to meet the needs of customers. Maybe today obvious ideas, at the time they were very innovative.On the product side, after some experiments in the late 60s and early 70s, CIFA created a revolutionary machine in 1974: the truck mixer pump.

LA STORIA DI CIFA, QUARTA PARTE - DAL 1974 AL 1989

IT Lo spirito innovativo di CIFA si declina anche nelle scelte aziendali che videro negli anni ’70 la costruzione di un vero e proprio vivaio di giovani neolaureati, ingegneri che di lì a qualche anno sarebbero diventati l’ossatura dirigenziale dell’azienda: crebbe così la generazione dei nuovi tecnici, cui veniva insegnata la passione per il settore, i valori imprenditoriali e lo spirito d’impresa.In quegli anni CIFA sviluppò anche una sua rete di vendita e di assistenza: non bastava avere il prodotto, per venire incontro alle esigenze del cliente serviva preparazione e coinvolgimento. Concetti che oggi possono sembrare scontati, ai tempi si dimostrarono avanguardistici.Dal punto di vista del prodotto, dopo alcuni esperimenti tra la fine degli anni ’60 e l’inizio degli anni ’70, CIFA realizzò nel 1974 una macchina rivoluzionaria: la betonpompa.

EN The Samoter trade fair saw the presentation of the 301B, a mixer with a pumping unit and distributor boom. For the very first time, a manufacturer combined the concrete transport capacity with the possibility to cast the concrete on site.Over the years the mixer pump achieved great commercial success, being the ideal solution for small businesses who couldn’t afford both a mixer and a truck-mounted pump. All the main competitors, over time, also adopted this solution.The machine was initially equipped with a 4 cubic metre mixing drum, a single rear outrigger cylinder, a 17-metre, 2-section boom mounted at the rear, and a transversal pumping unit complete with hopper, mixer, transversal switching blade valve and a single, double-acting thrust cylinder. Later the machine was also fitted with a front-mounted boom with double front outriggers.In 1983 the 301B made way for the “Pompuno”, a machine with a 2 or 3 section front-mounted placing boom, with a transversal pumping unit with an “S” valve, which was already becoming a standard for truck-mounted pumps.Today the CIFA mixer pump is the Magnum, available in a range from 24 to 32 meters in length, in the Steeltech and Carbotech line with two sections of the carbon fiber arm. This technology will be explored in the next Made In issue, as the end of this CIFA’s history journey.

IT Venne presentata al Samoter la 301B, una betoniera dotata di gruppo pompante e braccio distributore. Per la prima volta in assoluto un costruttore abbinava la capacità di trasporto di calcestruzzo alla possibilità di poter effettuare getti in cantiere. La betonpompa ebbe nel corso degli anni un notevole successo commerciale risultando la soluzione ideale per le piccole imprese che non potevano permettersi di avere sia la betoniera sia la pompa autocarrata. Tutti i principali costruttori concorrenti, col tempo, sposeranno questa soluzione.L’attrezzatura inizialmente era dotata di tamburo mescolatore da 4 metri cubi, di un unico cilindro stabilizzatore posteriore, di un braccio distributore da 17 metri a 2 sezioni montato posteriormente, e di un gruppo pompante trasversale completo di tramoggia

Successivamente la macchina venne dotata anche di braccio montato anteriormente con doppi cilindri stabilizzatori anteriori.Nel 1983 la 301B passò il testimone al “Pompuno”, macchina dotata di bracci a 2 o 3 sezioni, montati anteriormente, con un gruppo pompante sempre trasversale ma con valvola “S”, una valvola che si stava già imponendo come standard sulle pompe autocarrate.Oggi la betonpompa CIFA è i l Magnum, disponibile in un range da 24 a 32 metri di lunghezza, nella linea Steeltech e Carbotech con due sezioni del braccio in fibra di carbonio. Questa tecnologia - e non solo - sarà esplorata nel prossimo numero di Made In, a conclusione del viaggio nella storia di CIFA.

EN The end of September was for CIFA the center of its Ninetieth celebrations, with the European and extra-European sales network meetings. It was a full week with the enthusiastic participation of dealers and guests from all over the world, curious to know CIFA not only through its products, but also through its everyday reality: the factory and the people - technicians, workers and employees. As a conclusion of all, the Open Day dedicated to the employees and their families on Saturday 29 of September.

IT L’ultima settimana di settembre è stata per CIFA il centro delle celebrazioni del Novantesimo, in concomitanza con gli eventi dedicati alla rete vendita europea ed extra europea.Una sett imana intensa che ha visto la partecipazione entusiasta di dealer e ospiti provenienti da tutto il mondo, curiosi di conoscere CIFA, non solo attraverso i suoi prodotti, ma anche attraverso la realtà di cui è costituita: i luoghi - la fabbrica, gli uffici - e le persone - i tecnici, gli operai e le varie professioni che compongono il tessuto aziendale. Come conclusione di tutto, l’Open Day dedicato ai dipendenti e alle loro famiglie nella mattinata di sabato 29 settembre.

Respect for the environment drives technological evolution, together with the industrialization of new materials. Increasing digitization allows us to develop machine safety in all working conditions.After the first day of working session with the dealers for sharing annual performances and future goals, the event based on the aim

of bringing the CIFA experience to the big companies interested in CIFA’s products and machines took place.The focus of the day at the headquarters in Senago (Milan) was the show atthe testing field, where the best machines were presented according to the market area. During the demonstration, for the first time ever, the K47H Carbotech pump was presented: the longest one, with 32 tons on four axes, in its special limited edition 90° themed.

“The restyling of our museum is focused on the concept of Driven by Innovation. Innovation is the engine that leads us to design cutting-edge solutions and, above all, to give our customesr an added value by offering them products that anticipate operational needs and ensure safety.”, said CIFA CEO Davide Cipolla. “For this reason, CIFA wants to tell its story through the machines that it has developed over the years, through what it does best: innovating.”

There was no lack of leisure time, from the dinners in the center of Milan to the visit of the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese (Milan). Just like CIFA, Alfa Romeo has always striven for innovation and technological excellence; and just like CIFA, it has always shown itself capable of making bold, trailblazing decisions. The Dealers Meetings and the events were a great success for CIFA, both for the participation by the guests and the management of the activities: from the presentations and the factory tour, up to the leisure times.

EN On Monday, September 24th, there was the inauguration of the new CIFA Museum. The Museum in Senago’s headquarters (Milan) has been renewed for the 90th anniversary of CIFA. The restyling highlights the value of innovation by creating two new areas dedicated to hybrid technology and carbon fiber, as representative solutions of CIFA products evolution in these last years. Thus, alongside the classic timeline with CIFA history, the area dedicated to historical machines and the experiential one that simulates the jobsite, the path becomes interactive thanks to a new application for 3D simulation of the Energya hybrid mixer.

THEMUSEUMRESTYLINGIl restyling del Museo

IT Lunedì 24 settembre è stato inaugurato il Museo di CIFA nella sua nuova versione. Il Museo che si trova presso la sede di Senago è stato rinnovato dal punto di vista dei contenuti in occasione dei 90 anni di CIFA. Un restyling che ha voluto mettere in evidenza il valore dell’innovazione, creando due nuove aree dedicate alla tecnologia ibrida e alla fibra di carbonio, in quanto soluzioni rappresentative dell’evoluzione dei prodotti CIFA negli ultimi anni. Così, accanto alla classica timeline con la storia di CIFA, all’area dedicata alle macchine storiche e a quella esperienziale che simula il cantiere, il percorso diventa interattivo grazie a una nuova applicazione che consente di simulare in 3D il funzionamento della betoniera ibrida Energya.

Non sono mancati i momenti di svago, dalle serate in centro a Milano alla visita del Museo Alfa Romeo ad Arese (Milano). Proprio come CIFA, Alfa Romeo ha sempre cercato innovazione ed eccellenza tecnologica; e proprio come CIFA, si è sempre dimostrata capace di prendere decisioni audaci e all’avanguardia. I Dealers Meeting e gli eventi sono stati un grande successo per CIFA, dal punto di vista sia della partecipazione da parte degli ospiti sia dell’organizzazione dei vari momenti: dalle presentazioni alla visita in produzione, fino all’intrattenimento.

EN Saturday 29th of September CIFA celebrated its 90th birthday with all the employees of the Italian offices and their families. The party was an opportunity to show the headquarters of Senago (Milan): our guests had the chance to visit several areas on their own, based on their interest.With the access pass, our guests could choose whether to linger in the refreshment area or to follow one of the routes to explore the company: a shuttle bus tour in the factory to learn about production activities, touch the machines presented during the Customer’s Day at the testing field, or discover the story of CIFA through the path inside the newly renovated Museum.

Employees’ families took part at the event in a very warm way and were astonished to see CIFA as an innovative company and as Italian excellence. Above all, they had the chance to see it as a humane company, a feature shown by the great sense of belonging of the employees who helped to make unique and memorable this event.Therefore, a big thank goes to the staff that made the Open Day possible and best wishes go to CIFA once more, for its past 90 years and for the future ones!

IT Sabato 29 settembre CIFA ha celebrato i suoi 90 anni con tutti i dipendenti delle sedi italiane e le loro famiglie. La festa è stata l’occasione per mostrare la sede di Senago (Milano) in tutti i suoi ambienti; tramite una visita a fruizione libera è stato possibile recarsi nelle varie aree a seconda degli interessi.Dopo aver ritirato il pass all’ingresso, si poteva scegliere se intrattenersi nell’area ristoro o seguire uno dei percorsi per esplorare l’Azienda, usufruendo della navetta a disposizione per fare il giro in fabbrica e conoscere le attività della produzione, toccare con mano le macchine presentate durante i Customer’s Day presso il campo prove, oppure scoprire la storia di CIFA tramite il percorso all’interno del Museo appenarinnovato.Le famiglie dei dipendenti hanno partecipato calorosamente e sono rimaste piacevolmente colpite dalla realtà di CIFA, in quanto azienda a l l ’avanguard ia ed ecce l lenza i ta l iana , ma soprattutto in quanto azienda umana, caratteristica che si evince dal grande senso di appartenenza dei dipendenti che hanno contribuito a rendere questo evento unico e memorabile.Un grande ringraziamento va quindi allo staff che ha reso possibile l’Open Day e un grande augurio va ancora a CIFA, per i suoi 90 anni passati e per quelli futuri.

Nabil BejaouiSales Area ManagerNabil is 33 years old, he was born in Tunisia and he moved to Italy in 2009, where he got a Master’s Degree in Economics at the University of Pavia. He has always worked in the sales field, gaining skills as Sales Manager in the Middle East and Africa areas. He loves challenges and intercultural exchanges: that is why he decided to join CIFA as Sales Area Manager for North Africa. However, he is not a workaholic: he loves spending time with his family, but he also loves trekking in the Alps and climbing on the highest peaks. Welcome, Nabil!

Nabil ha 33 anni, è nato in Tunisia e nel 2009 si è trasferito in Italia dove ha conseguito la laurea specialistica in Economia presso l’Università di Pavia. Ha sempre lavorato in ambito commerciale, maturando competenze come Sales Manager delle aree del Medio Oriente e dell’Africa. Ama le sfide e gli scambi interculturali, per questo è entrato in CIFA come Sales Area Manager per il Nord Africa. Ma la sua vita non è solo lavoro, infatti quando non è impegnato con la propria famiglia, adora praticare trekking sulle Alpi e salire sulle vette più alte. Benvenuto, Nabil!

Alessandro AmoreSupplier Quality EngineerBorn in Turin 30 years ago and grown up in Reggio Calabria, he returned to his hometown to attend Politecnico and he graduated in Industrial Engineering. He defines himself as a flexible person: he worked in several automotive and forklift companies while studying to achieve a Master Degree by the end of this year. In CIFA he deals with the quality of suppliers for the Senago and Castiglione delle Stiviere sites. He loves travelling - for real and with the imagination, thanks to the TV series of which he is a big fan. Welcome to CIFA!

Nato a Torino 30 anni fa e cresciuto a Reggio Calabria, è tornato nella città natale per frequentare il Politecnico e laurearsi in Ingegneria Gestionale. Si definisce flessibile e, in quanto tale, ha lavorato in diverse realtà industriali nel settore automobilistico e dei carrelli elevatori, riprendendo gli studi con l’obiettivo di conseguire la Laurea Specialistica entro il 2018. In CIFA è responsabile della qualità per le furniture e campionature per le sedi di Senago e Castiglione delle Stiviere. Ama viaggiare per il mondo e con la fantasia, grazie alle serie televisive di cui è grande fan. Benvenuto in CIFA!

Mattia FerrarioStrategic Sourcing BuyerThe small textile company, in which he grew up professionally, was very important for Mattia future career: he worked in many positions, from the most practical to the strategic ones. The basketball court in which he played for years was very important as well: today, he trains the young basketball teams of his town. He is fond of Formula1 and MotoGPand leads a dynamic lifestyle, but he also likes relaxing moments in which he can dedicate himself to his favorite hobby: stamp collecting. As Strategic Sourcing Buyer, he has the task of finding new suppliers worldwide for CIFA. Good job!

La piccola azienda tessile in cui è cresciuto professionalmente è stata per Mattia la più grande palestra lavorativa: ha potuto sperimentare molti ruoli, dai più operativi a quelli strategici. La palestra di vita, invece, è stato il campo da basket in cui ha giocato per anni e in cui allena le squadre giovanili. Appassionato anche di Formula1 e MotoGP, ha uno stile di vita dinamico che però non esclude alcuni momenti più rilassanti in cui coltiva il suo hobby preferito: collezionare francobolli.
