Mphasis eyes double-digit revenue from Blackstone

BENGALURU: Mphasis is eyeing double-digit revenue contribution from companies in the portfolio of Blackstone, American private equity firm that owns majority stake in the software services firm, up from around 5% at present, said its chief executive Nitin Rakesh.

The firm is working with 10 of Blackstone’s 95 portfolio firms and there is enough opportunity for expansion, he said. Blackstone’s portfolio firms spend over $1 billion a year on technology services and Mphasis has been trying to tap into more businesses backed by Blackstone to add a steady revenue stream to its core business. “We have added 10 clients in the Blackstone portfolio in the last 18 months, five of them in FY19 and three of them in FY19 third quarter. Almost 5% of revenue coming from Blackstone as of FY19 clearly demonstrates there is a real opportunity,” said Rakesh. “I would not be surprised if we can potentially get our revenue contribution from Blackstone to be double-digit.”

Mphasis currently gets more than a fourth of its revenue through DXC, a unit that was formed with the merger of CSC and enterprise business of Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Analysts said Mphasis’ business from Blackstone portfolio has the potential to grow faster than its core direct business.

“On the direct core, it was historically growing very well and what is added is Blackstone portfolio synergies. They have got 10 logos. A lot of these clients are in North America and therefore the opportunity is there. It is complementary and can grow faster than direct core business,” said Apurva Prasad, IT analyst, HDFC Securities.

December 2018 quarter.

The company's net profit stood at Rs 214.9 crore in the year-ago period, Mphasis said in a statement.

Mphasis on track to meet 15-17% EBIT target for FY19

IT company, Mphasis, on Friday said the company is in-line to achieve earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT)

margin guidance of 15-17 percent for FY19.

The company posted a 29.3 percent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 277.9 crore for the December 2018

quarter. Mphasis net profit stood at Rs 214.9 crore in the year-ago period.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Nitin Rakesh, chief executive officer, said, "2018 was a tailwinded year, but it's yet

too early to say if the macro environment has changed for 2019. However, clients seem more cautious given the

volatility in the market"

According to Rakesh, "So far the company has not seen any impact in client sentiment or spend budgets. I think the

budgets will be stable with slightly upward bias given the tailwind of increased investment intact."

V Suryanarayanan, chief financial officer, said, "Considering the focus on operating levers in the last six quarters, we

are confident of being within that band or better for FY20."

Mphasis Ltd. said it’s confident of achieving its margin forecast of 15-17 percent for the ongoing financial year. “The

company’s margin contracted in the quarter ended December due to salary hike and an acquisition during the

period,” Chief Financial Officer V Suryanarayanan told BloombergQuint in an interaction. “We are confident that

the margin will come back on track in the March quarter”. The BPO operator is working towards improving its

operational efficiency that will boost margin, he told BloombergQuint in an interaction. Key Earnings Highlights (Q3,

QoQ) Revenue up 3 percent at Rs 1,971 crore. Net profit up 2.6 percent at Rs 278 crore. EBIT down 1 percent at Rs

Mphasis reported a good set of numbers for Q3FY19. The revenue in Rupee terms grew by 2.9% qoq to Rs1,971cr

against median consensus estimates of Rs1,998cr. Revenue in dollar terms grew by 2.6% qoq to USD282.7mn. EBIT

came in at Rs311cr, down 1.1% qoq against median consensus estimates of Rs312cr. EBIT margin at 15.8%

contracted by 64bps qoq. Reported PAT came in at Rs278cr, up 2.6% qoq, higher than median consensus estimate

of Rs261cr.

Revenue grew by 3.2% qoq in constant currency (cc) terms.

The revenue growth was driven by a growth in the HP/DXC business and Direct Core business.

The DXC/HP Business grew by 6.4% qoq cc. The DXC business contributed 25.6% of the overall gross revenue in

Q3FY19 (DXC/HP Business contributed 29%).

Direct International revenue grew by 2% qoq cc despite headwinds in Digital Risk business. Direct Core revenue,

which is 84% of Direct International revenue, grew by 6% qoq cc.

New-Gen Services revenue grew by 50.8% yoy to 46.4% of Direct Core revenue. TCV of deals won was USD112mn

with 81% of the deal wins in NewGen Services.

Gross margins were down 20bps qoq impacted by wage hikes and seasonal client shutdown. G&A expenses

normalized on qoq basis post savings in Q2FY19, up 35bps qoq. The PAT was aided by higher foreign exchange

gains on qoq basis (Rs8cr vs. Rs3cr).

Amongst verticals, growth was led by Insurance (+7.7% qoq) and Emerging

Industries (+9.3% qoq). Banking and Capital Markets declined by 1.6% qoq, while Information Technology,

Communication and Entertainment was up 1.6% qoq.

Geographically, EMEA led growth (+7% qoq), Americas was flat (+0.5% qoq). India was down 1.7% qoq while RoW

was up 54.8% qoq on a lower base.

Top client grew by 2.6% qoq, while Top 5 clients grew by 9.7% qoq suggesting that top 2-5 clients grew at a faster

clip of ~13% qoq. On the contrary, the growth in Top 10 clients (+4.3% qoq) suggest that top 6-10 clients declined

by ~10% qoq.

Technical View:

Mphasis Ltd is currently trading at Rs. 920.40, up by 21.2 points or 2.36% from its previous closing of Rs. 899.20 on

the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 890.05 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 922.75 and Rs. 890.05 respectively. So far

5,59,011 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The stock is currently trading above its 200 DMA.

Mphasis has reported results for third quarter ended December 31, 2018. The company has reported a rise of 19.53% in its net profit at Rs 219.05 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 183.26 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 5.53% at Rs 897.87 crore for Q3FY19 as compared Rs 850.84 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. On the consolidated basis, the company has reported a rise of 29.32% in its net profit at Rs 277.97 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 214.94 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 19.19% at Rs 2,021.59 crore for Q3FY19 as compared Rs 1,696.05 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

Mphasis posts over 29 pct increase in net profit to Rs 278 cr in Q3

IT company Mphasis Thursday posted a 29.3 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 277.9 crore for the December 2018 quarter. The company's net profit stood at Rs 214.9 crore in the year-ago period, Mphasis said in a statement. Mphasis' revenue from operations grew 18.6 per cent to Rs 1,970.9 per cent in the quarter from Rs 1,660.6 crore in the October-December 2017 period. The company said it saw new deal wins of USD 122 million in direct international business, of which 81 per cent are in new-generation services. "Q3 is proof of our Cloud and Cognitive strategy in action, with the acquisition of Stelligent and launch of multiple clients wins in these areas. We are pleased with our overall performance in Q3 and our sustained execution road map across the portfolio, especially in New Gen Services," Mphasis CEO and Executive Director Nitin Rakesh said. He further said: "We continue to stay focused on execution of our deal pipeline and supporting the growth momentum."

Mphasis reports 29% rise in Q3 consolidated net profit

Mphasis has reported results for third quarter ended December 31, 2018.

The company has reported a rise of 19.53% in its net profit at Rs 219.05 crore for the quarter under review as

compared to Rs 183.26 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by

5.53% at Rs 897.87 crore for Q3FY19 as compared Rs 850.84 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

On the consolidated basis, the company has reported a rise of 29.32% in its net profit at Rs 277.97 crore for the

quarter under review as compared to Rs 214.94 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of

the company increased by 19.19% at Rs 2,021.59 crore for Q3FY19 as compared Rs 1,696.05 crore for the

corresponding quarter previous year.
