Sunshine Story #2Hi Ms. Peccia,

This is Bill Canady. I’m hijacking her canvas email for a sec. I want to tell you how much I appreciate your leadership in her Geometry class. I was home today to do some office work and I overheard about ten minutes of her zoom in your class. You are a fantastic teacher. I’m amazed at how you work with your students; I appreciate it, because as a person with severe ADD and learning disabilities myself, it’s teachers like you that make all the difference. I think yours is the only class that my daughter has this semester in which she does everything on her own as a result of your teaching. And it’s Geometry of all things!Thank you. Hope you have a lovely weekend

Bill Canady

Sunshine Story #3Mrs. Crooks,

I always knew we have the best teachers at Deer Valley High School. We also have the BEST counselor Mrs Darre. She is just on it! On top of it and knows exactly what we need. Plus, Mrs Gustafson, Mr. Dixon and as always our WONDERFUL ROTC... Everyone has been so caring and lovely, especially with this start.

This has been so stressful. I was in ICU with Covid, and the teachers were great. My daughter is STRUGGLING... depression and anxiety..but these teachers are just everything. Thank you so much for your Leadership!!

We so appreciate DVHS,

Staci Schaum

Sunshine Story #4A Parent from SDOHS emailed this to Dr. Miller and Teachers

Dear teachers,I just wanted to reach out and let you know how much I appreciate all of your hard work. My daughter Lila is engaged throughout the school day and seems to be doing meaningful assignments throughout the week. She has mentioned only a couple of very minor technical glitches that were immediately resolved. I know that online school is not ideal for every student, but from my perspective, it is working well. I am grateful for your commitment to the students despite all of the challenges we are facing.Shelly White

Face MasksFace Mask expectations in the workplace:

People can spread COVID 19 before they show symptoms, or even if they show no symptoms at all. To encourage behaviors that reduce the spread of COVID 19, all employees will be required to use face masks. Employees may choose to bring their own face masks or DVUSD will also provide face masks. Face shields are not as effective as wearing a cloth or paper face mask. Face shields may only be used if approved as an ADA accommodation.

● Employees not working alone, must wear face masks. ● Employees who ride in vehicles with others (work assignments, traveling from work location to work

location, traveling to lunch, etc) must wear face masks.● Employees assigned specific job duties may also require additional protective equipment (gloves,

face shield with face covering, etc.) Expectations for these duties will be provided to these employees.

Navigating Social Distancing and OthersWe are a team. Taking care of yourself and one another is important in maintaining a happy and healthy work family.

● Be conscientious and understanding of your co-workers who may be dealing with child care issues, illness or loss of loved ones, financial insecurity, or other issues.

● Kindly and professionally address one another when social distancing practices are not followed. (ie. “I want to be sure we all stay healthy, could you stand six feet away please?” “I can’t afford to get sick, would you mind…. Washing hands, cleaning desk, wearing a mask, etc, “I know it is hard to remember, we all need to ….).

● Remember each employee has a different point of view, different background, and different experiences related to COVID 19. Do not make assumptions about what is driving another person’s thinking or behaviors. Pause on judging and be open to understanding.

● Respect employees' privacy. Ensure confidentiality, in compliance with the American Disabilities Act.● Reach out to DVUSD’s Employee Assistance Program for quick and timely resources (Interface EAP

www.4eap.com username: DVUSD password: A89 or call 1-800-324-4327).
