FORTWORTH,TEXAS (March25,2019)– Today,HearFortWorthandFilmFortWorthwithassistancefromUnitedWayofTarrantCountyannouncedexpansionofacreativeindustryrelieffundtohelpsupportmusicians,visualartistsandfilmmakerswhohavelostworkduetoCOVID-19.

TheinitiativespearheadedbyHearFortWorthisanextensionofFortWorthmusician RachelGollay’sArtist&ServiceWorkerReliefFund,whichraised$10,000andprovidedsupportof$200perqualifiedapplicant.

VisitFortWorth,parentorganizationofHearFortWorthandFilmFortWorth,willmanagetheapplicationprocessandUnitedWayofTarrantCountywillspearheadcollectionofdonationsandfunddistribution.

“Membersofthecreativecommunityhavebeenambassadorsforourcityandweneedtosupporttheminthiscrisis,”saidMitchWhitten,executivevicepresidentofmarketingandstrategyatVisitFortWorth.“Wewanttosupportmusicians,artistsandfilmmakerswhohavelostsomuchworkandincome.We’regratefultoRachelGollay forstartingthisinitiativeandtotheUnitedWayforhelpingusexpandit.”

UnitedWayofTarrantCountywillhostthedonationandapplicationpageontheirwebsitehttps://www.unitedwaytarrant.org/artistsrelieffund/.Thegoalistoreachatotalof$20,000,however,thefundwillstayopenaslongasdonationscontinuetocomein.Giftstothefundwillbe100%tax-deductible,withtaxacknowledgementsprovidedbyUnitedWayofTarrantCountyforanyindividualdonationsof$250ormore. FortWorthWeekly,thelocalmusicresourcefeaturinglocalmusiciansisthefirstpromotionalpartnerfortheeffort,helpingspreadthewordthroughitspublication,websiteandnetwork.“UnitedWayofTarrantCountyishonoredtopartnerwithVisitFortWorthtoassistthecreativecommunitywhohavebeenimpactedbyCOVID-19,”saidLeahKing,presidentandCEOofUnitedWayofTarrantCounty. “Withsomanyartistsrelyingonhourlyorone-timeincomefromlargesocialgatheringsinestablishmentsnowclosed,thispopulationhasbeenhithardbythevirus. WHATDOESITTAKETOQUALIFYFORGRANTFUNDS?ThegrantfundsavailablethroughEASLareintendedforthoseindividualswhosupportthemselvesthroughartwork,andthosewhoarepursuingacareerinthevisualartsfield.ItisalsoreservedforartistswhobelongtotheNorthTexascommunity.Withthisinmind,weaskthatapplicantsfitthefollowingcriteria:Anapplicantmustfitthefollowingprofessionalqualifications:

Theapplicantispursuingacareerinthefinearts,witharecordofprofessionalexhibitionandevidencethattheyhavebeeninvolvedintheNorthTexasartscommunityforatleastthepasttwoyears.Theapplicantisavisualartsprofessionaloffineart,witharecordofprofessionalactivity,aswellasevidenceofworkinsupportoftheNorthTexasartscommunityforatleastthepasttwoyears.

Foratleastthepasttwoyears,anapplicantmustbearesidentofatleastoneofthefollowingtencounties:Collin,Dallas,Tarrant,Denton,Parker,Johnson,Ellis,Kaufman,Wise,orRockwall.Proofofresidencyinanyofthecountiesforthepasttwoconsecutiveyears isrequired.Theneedforfinancialassistancemustbeprovided,withboththeindividual’sneedsandcurrentfinancialstatusgiven.AcurrentVITAorresumeofprofessionalartactivity,whichshouldreflectexhibitionsand/orsignificantinvolvementinthe NorthTexasarea.AnapplicantmusthavereferencesforEASLtocontact.Anapplicantmustanswerallofthequestionslistedonthegrantapplication.Theapplicationandallsupplementalmaterialshavetobesubmittedbeforeanapplicationisconsidered.NOTE:Familymembersofanartist,andartistsinanon-visualartfield,willnotbeeligibleforgrantfunds.
