The tour is a great way to sample a totally different culture and to play cricket in conditions that are much hotter than we are used to in St. Helens. Hockey Round Up

The opening match of the season saw Cowley U16 team record an impressive 4 - 0 victory over local school St Aelred's. Cowley took an early lead with a well taken penalty corner routine and a goal from Kirsty Cunliffe.

Cowley continued to dominate play and a further goal from Kirsty and two more from Katie Duffy saw Cowley win by 4 - 0. The first Saturday matches were played this week against Archbishop Blanch, Liverpool. The U16's enjoyed a closely contested match and despite taking an early lead with a goal from Holly Talbot were forced to de-fend after Archbishop Blanch applied pressure from half time. The scores were levelled at one all, but with Cowley once again on the attack continued pressure on the Archbishop goal saw Cowley take the lead once more, the final score 2 - 1 to Cowley. The U14's playing 11 a side did well to stand up to a lot of pressure on the Cowley goal. For some time the defence held strong until conceding a goal just prior to half time. After the interval Cowley enjoyed some good attacking play with an excellent move down the right being saved by Archbishop Blanch keeper. Unfortunately caught on the counter attack Cowley conceded a second goal to lose 0 -2. Hockey training is held on a Wednesday 3.30 - 4.30 at Ruskin Drive, minibus leaves from front of school. We particularly would like to welcome more year 8 students.
