• Permission was granted well in advance to participate with study• Communication from my trust was appropriate but not all information
forthcoming from the university i.e. location, start dates and tutor. New tutor appointed at the time and was very helpful.
• Notification and availability of courses was done in good time • It was easy to apply and my manager helped me • Education office team very friendly and approachable - helpful with queries
regarding funding for courses etc. • Timely notification of funding application and what to do next. • I was only given dates of course. No material and no instructions on where
to go. • Course tutor not good using the wrong booklet, not aware of assignment
criteria. VLE [virtual learning environment] badly designed. • Full list of responses available if required

Q17: Please help us understand why you selected the answer [to Q16]
Answered: 44 Skipped: 31
• The study dates provided were incorrect, I therefore was unable to attend some of the dates due to work commitments
• Only day before course due to commence, did they inform that there were not enough students to allow the course to continue. We had cancelled a significant amount of clinical work to allow for me to go on the course.
• Regular emails and updates • Tutors easily contacted via email and quick response given. • Trainer delivered material well and was very supportive in every aspect • Communication from lecturer could have been better as didn't always get
back to you. • Emails were very effective • Very good sessions at uni very informative • Timely response to emails. Helpful in general for any questions I had. • Full list of responses available if required

Q29: If you answered no to the previous question [Q28], what have the barriers been?
Answered: 6 Skipped: 69
• time constraints • It would have been beneficial to have been given more time, e.g. 7 hours • I couldn't get the practical hours that I needed and had to apply for an
extension of it. Afterwards, I had still to request every day to get these hours.
• have been left to get on with it • mentors disinterested • given me more time in HDU and also helped me complete the practice book
for the course
Q30: Do you feel that you have taken personal actions away from this training for your practice?

lymphoedema as a case study • I hope to expand in this field of practice • Further research and using my skills with patients • Awareness of both the patients / relatives feelings, as well as those of staff.
How they can be affected by sudden changes in their lives• The books I have bought will be a constant source of reference. Am keen to

• Course not attended - awaiting further date to commence
• Not applicable
• The gap between practice and theory too big
• I feel that I carry my work out very effectively for patient care and
others in the department before the modules were started and some
have been relevant to my role to support students in practice

• I feel the instructions about how to apply received from the trust could have been clearer
• Complicated and confusing • …the above 2 comments are related to an ARU application. A step by step guide has
been produced and is emailed to the applicants manager. This has been in place for 3 years
• My course/module changed last minute due to lack of numbers. This caused a few problems re-arranging timetable
• Had to enrol on line with little/no information • A confusing and prolonged process - but I am aware that this is under review
by my Uni

Answered: 71 Skipped: 4
Q40: Any other comments? (please detail if you attended more than programme/study/course/workshop & include suggestions for improving future CPD provision). Answered: 11 Skipped: 64
• Very difficult course poor support from tutor based at ARU Peterborough however other tutor helpful. Very poor communication and feedback following exams and essays submitted for proof reading no support given for re taking of exams
• Unable to answer most of these questions accurately as the course has not yet been attended.
• I believe there should be some flexibility on the deadline for this course. As qualified practitioners it is very hard to get to work with the mentor as usually in separate lists or shifts.
• Unfortunately my study had to take place some distance from my Trust so travel time was a big issue for me. However, this was the only area available to attend this particular programme. It would be helpful if the local Anglia Ruskin to hold a pain management course
Q40: continued…
• Excellent course and I look forward to taking what I have learnt forward within my role of ward practitioner
• I actually did this module in my own time, however this was not an option in the drop down box. My [designated medical practitioner support] was what helped me pass this course, not the staff from ARU
• I also completed the Introduction to Social Sciences module through the OU, however this commenced in February 2015. I also did complete the Level 4 NVQ Business Administration through the Trust which had been ongoing from 2012-2014.
• Attended a workshop entitled Organ donation starting the conversation. • Other study days attended in 2014-15 period: ACAS study day and workshop on
managing extreme and persistent difficult staff behaviours • I was give half the time for attending the course • Additional study - 2 day conference Pancreatic Society Nov 2014
Next steps…• Is there any more we can learn from the feedback?• Review of SurveyMonkey questions (does there need to be any
adjustment)?• Consider the content and wording of question 39• Share this survey with Trust colleagues, partners and stakeholders• For the next survey: consider extension of response period with weekly
reminders to increase response rate• This will be repeated for the 2015 to 2016 CPD year
