OCR CPD Hub – your route to our teacher training Whether you want to come to a specific event or search for resources and training materials, you can find what you’re looking for on our CPD Hub.

Subject Expert Visits (SEVs) Subject Expert Visits (SEVs) are available to centres which haven’t yet started teaching the specification. The visit takes the form of a meeting with an open agenda covering an introduction to the qualification structure, assessment model, resources and support, guidance on delivery and assessment requirements.

SEVs are free of charge; however your centre must be referred by an OCR Regional Account Manager, a Customer Development Manager or a member of our Customer Liaison Team.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)To help you get up and running with the delivery of your qualification, we provide a range of CPD events. These are offered on various dates and locations throughout the UK.

On the CPD Hub, you can take a look at the range of support we have on offer, find out what the aims and objectives of the courses are and book your place.

CPD for Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals is free of charge for 2014-2015.

For those of you new to the qualification, we would suggest attending ‘Getting to know the specification’. This course will provide an introduction to the qualification structure, assessment model, resources and support and guidance on delivery, and assessment requirements for the mandatory units.

On the CPD Hub, you can also find all the CPD materials that are provided to delegates on the day. So, if you can’t attend a face-to-face event don’t worry, you can still download the materials free of charge.

Advisory Visits If you’re an OCR centre delivering Cambridge Technicals, you can take advantage of a free advisory visit. This is available before your first moderation visit and will provide an opportunity to discuss the specification and assessment criteria, delivery ideas, centre-set assignments and more. One thing we can’t do is look at any live student work.

To book a visit, please email the CPD team at [email protected]. To make sure this can be arranged as quickly as possible, you must take the following steps:

• Use ‘Advisory Visit’ as the subject title

• List the Cambridge Technical subject/s for which you’re requesting a visit

• List the topics you’d like to go through

• List any particularly suitable/unsuitable dates over the next few weeks from the date of request

• Clearly include contact details for the person with whom we should arrange the visit.

In-house Training If your centre is unable to attend the date(s) or location(s) on the programme, we can deliver the course at your centre.

On the CPD Hub, you can take a look at the CPD we have on offer, including the aims and objectives of the courses. An In-house training session would replicate the content, aims and objectives of one of our face-to-face CPD sessions.

For more information, including the costs for In-house training, email [email protected]

You might wish to join with another centre in order to spread the cost, but we recommend that numbers do not exceed 10 delegates, although this is negotiable.

Please note that trainers are not permitted to review any live student work. Plus, none of the trainers will have been involved in the preparation of any live examination materials.

Sample Student Work We know that you like to make sure your students are on the right track and working towards gaining the best possible outcome.

We can’t look at your students’ live work, but the CPD Hub has a range of sample student work for Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals.

Sample student work is just that, a sample; it’s not exemplary or a ‘gold standard’. The work has been looked at by our Chief Moderator and in many cases they’ve provided a commentary on how the work stacks up against the assessment criteria, or have annotated the script to show which assessment criteria have been met. This should help you get a feeling for what is expected, and how your students are getting on. You may also find the command verb resource useful too, this can be found on the qualification page of the OCR website.

We will aim to get more sample student work uploaded onto the CPD Hub as it becomes available. So remember to keep visiting the CPD Hub.

New Assignment Checking Service*Due to the vocational nature of Cambridge Technicals, we think it’s really important for your students to be set assignments that reflect the local environment. This is why we have left the setting of assignments up to you.

If you’re an OCR centre and concerned that your assignment may not meet the requirements of the unit, we will check it for you. You will be able to access this service via cpdhub.ocr.org.uk for all Cambridge Technicals subjects. The checking of mandatory unit assignments will be free of charge, and there will be a charge for checking assignments for optional units.

Want to know more about any of our services? You can contact our team at [email protected] or visit cpdhub.ocr.org.uk

*Please note that:

• OCR feedback is based on the centre-set assignment received and whether it is considered fit for purpose in highlighting the type of approach one might consider when planning an assessment activity for a Cambridge Technicals unit. Centres are reminded that when student evidence is submitted for external moderation, centres need to implement robust internal standardisation procedures and ensure that they provide a summative unit grade for each student based on their ability to meet the specific pass, merit and distinction criteria contained within the relevant unit specification.

• OCR may use centre-set assignments submitted for checking as an example, either through the delivery of INSET or via the CPD Hub.
