3V-CPI Characteristics3V-CPI Characteristics

Combines CPI and 2D-S probes, which doubles as the particle detection system for the CPI imaging camera.

2D-S reduces uncertainties in CPI size distribution. Can use wind speed measurements from SPL annemometer or 2D-S particle transit time measurements.

Identification of water drops and ice crystals is done using CPI imagery. 2D-S measurements are then used to quantitatively determine water and ice size distributions.

Software development to produce separate water and ice size distributions is under development (currently not in existence).
