I am delighted to launch the first ever issue of one our long awaited dreams –

"Cricket Revolt" magazine. I really appreciate all our followers on the website,

the forum and the facebook page. I would like to congratulate my team which did all

the hard work to make Cricket Revolt a success and I am also grateful to it for

providing me a chance to write something here. I hope you people will continue to extend

the support which you have been providing to us.

It would be unjust if we talk about cricket and not start with the World

Cup. And therefore in this edition, I will try to rate the performances of

the teams which made it to the knock out stages.

- INDIA (9/10) :

THE GOD FATHER’S PICK m

WC 2011 has brought glory & delight to a billion Indian hearts.

When India won their 1st ever WC in 1983 most Indians were

either kids or were not born and so didn’t know the taste of

being World Champions. With Dhoni's six of the final delivery

India started jubilation.

India lost to South Africa and tied to England in group stages.

- PAKISTAN (8.5/10) :

Coming out of a lot of controversies and the loss of many first

choice players, Pakistan managing to reach semi-final was the

real positive of the World Cup. They also ended the long

winning streak of defending champions Australia in the WC.

Pakistan proved yet again that it is a team which never says die.

Their dream run ended in the hands of their arch rivals India.

by Tejas Jani

Page 6: CR e-Magazine - 22nd OCT 2011 - Edition 1

6

- SRI LANKA (8/10) : Sri Lanka was one of the favourites to win the title. It was also the last WC for spin wizard

Muralitharan. They played good cricket and reached their 2nd consecutive final. They lost in the

finals to Team India. Sri Lanka has made it to WC finals for the 3rd time in 5 editions !

- AUSTRALIA (7.5/10) :

After dominating the worldchampionship for 12 years, Austalia’s era of supremacy came to an

end. Affected by the retirement of great players like Shane Warne, Glenn Mc Grath, Mathew

Hayden and Adam Gilchrist, they were not favourites like previous World Cups. In spite of this,

they forged a decent team and lost only to Pakistan in group stages and were eventually knocked

out by India despite Ponting’s ton.

- NEW ZEALAND (7.5/10) :

After their poor performance in sub-continent earlier when they got white washed by Bangladesh

and 2nd tier Indian team nobody dared to bet on them. Still they not just made it to the Top 4 but

knocked out one of the tournament favourites South Africa. Also their notable win came against

Pakistan when Ross Taylor set some records. Their dream run ended in the Semi final where the

home team Sri Lanka emerged victorious !

- SOUTH AFRICA (7/10) :

The tag ‘chokers’ came to life once again when South Africa was knocked out by Kiwis in

quarter finals after dominating the group stages. South Africa which was a firm favourite with a

power packed batting line up, fierce pace battery and strong sub continental performances

disappointed in the World Cup by losing in the knockout stages where winning matters the most.

- ENGLAND (6/10) :

The only positive of the World Cup for Engliand was their win against South Africa and a high

scoring tie against India. Theie loss to Ireland was the major upset of WC2 011 – where Kevin

O’Brien registered the fastest centuryin World Cup history.

GOD FATHER’S PICK

- WEST INDIES (5/10) :

Coming from a series of controversies involving the calypso king Chris Gayle, WI

were a pleasant surprise. Under the captaincy of relatively inexperienced Sammy ,

they had a decent run but never challenged the top teams. Their WC campaign came

to an end in a lackluster performance against Pakistan in QF. Kemar Roach’s hattrick

against Netherlands was their notable milestone.

NEW CL T20 CHAMPS

Mumbai Indians emerged the new

CL T20 Champions as they beat Royal

Challegers Bangalore by 31 Runs in the finals on

October 9th. Earlier Mumbai Indians lost their

openers early after electing to bat. Rayudu and

Franklin stabilised the innings as Bhatkal dented

MI to 139 – which seemed to be chasable for

RCB, but not to be. MI out spinned RCB as they

crumbled under spin friendly conditions.

Lasith Malinga was adjudged the Man of the

Series – while captain Harbhajan Singh

snatched the Man of the Match in the finals for

his 3 wicket haul which included the price wicket

of Chris Gayle. This is the 2nd consecutive year

an IPL team bagged the CL T20 crown !

RCB : 108 Allout | 20 overs

MI: 139 Allout | 20 overs

TIME TO REMOVE THE

‘CHOKERS’ TAG

Head coach Gary Kirsten made

it clear to the South

African team that it

is time to remove the

„chokers‟ title. Kirsten

said his team won't take

it anymore as he is ready

to tackle down pressure

moments by strategies. Can

the World Cup winning coach

help the Proteas win a major

tournament ? Only time will

tell. All the best Gary !

WINDIES 61 ALLOUT 2nd lowest ODI score for Windies

West Indies was bundled out for just 61

Runs (12th lowest ever score in ODIs) in

the 3rd ODI between Bangladesh and

West Indies. Having won the T20 series

1-0 – Bangladesh had a poor run in the

ODI series as West Indies snatched the

first two matches of the series

comprehensively. The 3rd ODI at

Chittagong has seen the role reversal of

teams from 2011 Cricket WC when

Bangladesh was bowled out for just 59

runs. Former captain Shakib Al Hasan

picked 4 wickets as Bangladesh won

the match by 8 wickets. West Indies

won the ODI series 1-2 amidst

humiliation in the 3rd ODI.

Former Australian captain Steve

Waugh has re stated his support for

lie detectors to drive out corruption and cheaters

from World Cricket. Waugh said that players

who are wrongly accused must take the

polygraph test to clear their names off !

AGAINST CORRUPTION - Steve Waugh

BAT Waugh defended

his call saying-

"They

(polygraph

tests) have a

degree of

accuracy and

if you have

nothing to hide it's a

good way to prove

your innocence !"

Bangladesh : 62-2 | 20 Overs

West Indies: 61 Allout | 22 overs

CRICKET NUMERO 54 All out is the lowest ever ODI innings score for West Indies in

International Cricket. They recorded this lowest score against South Africa

in the year 2004, when Proteas pacers bundled them to 54 as they were

chasing a score of 264 at Newlands, Cape Town !

BACK IN AUCTION All the 22 players contracted with the

Kochi Tuskers franchise which got

terminated on September 19 for "irremediable

breach" of contract -will now be a part of the

IPL auction which would take place right after

the trading window is closed. (inter IPL franchise

player exchanges etc.)

YUVI TAKES A DIG AT ENGLAND

Indian allrounder Yuvraj

Singh took a dig at the English

players and the media for their

utterances during India's disastrous

tour of England, saying they should

be careful of what they speak as

"what goes around comes around.“

in a promotional event.

Yuvraj praised the youngsters in the

squad, especially top-order batsman Virat Kohli, for their

contribution to India's resurgence

“ Today, the youngsters are looking to play in the

IPL. Reason being fast money. One Ranji Trophy

match and they are picked up for the Twenty20

tournament. From day one, their aim is to play in

the IPL but one should understand that real cricket

is Test cricket," Former Indian batsman Vinod

6 teams, one goal : Ultimate Dominance !

IND - ENG RSA - AUS SL - PAK

From India, South Africa and UAE comes the biggest battle of the season. While

England look to retain the status quo from the English summer, India look

to get back to winning ways. South Africa will look to find the new order

for the future and Australia will look to continue with

the work they started in Sri Lanka. Pakistan look to

11

SOUTH AFRICA Vs AUSTRALIA :

Ever since England’s rise to the number 1 ranking, all

the talk has been focused on the English side and these

two teams are waiting to prove all of the experts

wrong.

Australia's tour of South Africa

which kicked off on Oct 13th looks like the

tournament to watch out for - especially after

the T20 series.After loosing the first T20I,

South Africa came back with

vengance to pull off what

looked like an improbable

victory. South Africa have

equalized the series and for

a change it was not they

who choked when it went

down to the wire. With

India and England series to

be on at the same time, the

tour might not get the

deserved media attention,

but make no mistake , these two sides will

bring their A game and prove their mettle as

well as warn England about the challenge that

they will pose to the Number 1 test ranking

which the both sides desperately want.

Australia looks like a team near its best with

Clarke making the ideal start to his time as

Test captain by leading the team to a 1-0

series victory in Sri Lanka, something he

secured with a rousing century on the final

day of the third Test. With an interim coach in

Troy Cooley the side will look to bring out

new strategies to outdo the Proteas. Clarke's

leadership on the field in Sri Lanka was

exemplary, but success in South Africa will.

not simply be a matter of planning effectively

for the Proteas. He will need to find enough

space between his on-field duties and those

of team organization even as the ways and

means of that organization are changing. On

the other Hand South Africa

will have to contend with a new

captain at helm, Hashim Amla.

He will make his international

captaincy debut for South

Africa in their upcoming

T20 and ODI series against Australia. He

replaces the injured AB de -

-Villiers, who was named

captain in both limited-overs

formats in June. The series

were due to be de Villiers' first as skipper

but he was ruled out for between four and six

weeks after breaking a finger while practicing

with the Royal Challengers Bangalore during

the Champions League.

With players like Johan Botha, Greame

Smith, Dale Steyn and JP Duminy - skipper

Amla is well served in the experience

department. He also has a lot of young talent

to look at as well, with players like Faf du

Plessis & Imran Tahir.

Proteas will miss the services of AB de Villiers

with both bat and glove

CR October 22nd | Edition 1

South Africa's series against Australia starts

with a T20 on October 13 in Cape Town and

that will be followed by another T20 in

Johannesburg then three ODIs. The two-Test

series starts on November 7.

Page 12: CR e-Magazine - 22nd OCT 2011 - Edition 1

12 FEATURED STORY

INDIA Vs ENGLAND:

The series could all come down to the spin attack and

with arguably, the best spinner at present in their side,

English side will not be too worried about the slow

and turning tracks of India.

Before India went to England it had

following things: No 1 Test Ranking, A fit

Zaheer Khan, Misconception about a strong

bench and most importantly, Pride!

Hence, it won’t be wrong to call the series

starting from October 14 a

revenge series. Not only is

India a better ODI side,

England looks a bit weak

when it comes to hitting

power. That said, England

wants to continue on their

dominance on India and

thus will come at their

full force.

The Indian side looks fresh, to put it in nice

words. While most of the Indian Media is Ga-

Ga on Pace of Varun Aron, time will tell if he

can really step up when the pressure’s on.

Rahul Sharma found himself in reckoning

ever since IPL 4 and his good work in

Domestic Tournaments made it sure that he

gets a shot at bowling to the English

players. Harbhajan finds himself out of favor

and is out for the first two ODIs.

Dernbach & Stuart Meaker in the side,

English Unit will probably look to

challenge the Indian conditions. They would

look to improve upon their World Cup 2011

performance, which at best, was ordinary.

Decision Review System will

not be implement in the series,

with BCCI still reluctant to implement it on a

continuous basis. The Hot Spot came in for flak

a lot of times during the England tour and with

the makers of Hawk eye admitting fault in the

system there are still a lot of discrepancies and

it doesn’t look like they will be sorted in near

future. A new restriction on the use of power

plays also comes into force. After the mandatory

10-over power play at the beginning of the

innings, the batting and bowling power plays of

five overs each must be used between the 16th

and 40th overs. The Result of this new rule

would be interesting to watch as batting power

play has been a game changer in almost all of

the matches since its implementation.

Captain Cook and his men have the task at hand to

show that they are good in sub continent aswell !

With Kevin Peterson returning in the English

side, the side looks much stronger then

before. Jonathan Trott along with Captain

Alastair Cook provide solidity in the top

order and with young players like Jade

The three matches have shown, how weak the

English side has been. It was expected of

them to struggle on turning

tracks, However, the loss at

Mohali has put them in a really

bad condtiton. The series might

be decided, but a lot of pride is

still present for English to be

fought for. India on the other

hand would like to keep up their

A game and aim for a 5-0 result!

Page 13: CR e-Magazine - 22nd OCT 2011 - Edition 1

13

PAKISTAN Vs SRI LANKA:

Almost all of the teams have faced a change at helm

after the world cup and these two are not an exception,

while Sangakkara gracefully left the captaincy, Shahid

Afridi’s In and Out game still continues.

From October 18, the two big cricket

Asian giants will meet each other in UAE.

These two teams come from different

experiences after the world cup. While

Pakistan faced Zimbabwe, Sri lanka faced the

Australians and both teams

would be some what

satisfied. They would look

for solidifying the young

talent that they have

brought in.

Sri Lankan test line ups has

a mix of experience, with

players such as Jaya-

-wardene & Sagakkara in

the lineup, and fresh young

talent with relatively unknown names such as

Shaminda Eranga & Kushal Silva. The spin

attack is devoid of Ajantha Mendis, with a

clear signal by selectors for him to up his

game. The expectations would be high of

Suraj Randiv & Rangana Herath. The Pace

attack looks well served with Chanaka

Welegedara and others. Tilkeratne Dilshan

would like to prove himself as a captain and

as an able leader.

With Kamran and Umar akmal also being

named in the Match Fixing controversy, the

chances of them playing in the near future

look limited. Misbah-ul-Haq had a

comparatively easier time with Zimbabwe

tour and his only troubles came

when asked to talk in English

during the post match

conferences. Some youngsters

w were retained after impressing

the selectors and will look to

become prominent members of

the side. Pakistan does have

experience with players such

as Shoaib Malik and Umar Gul

and hopes would be high of

such players to guide the rest

of the team in the times of trouble.

The tour will have 3 Test Matches and 5 One

Day Internationals with all five of them being

Day Nighters.

The Series in the end is between a 2011

World Cup Semi finalist and a Finalist and

while cricket is a funny game, Sri Lanka

looks the better team on paper and on field!

After the series loss to Australia at home – Sri

Lanka has a lot of gathering to do under Dilshan

While Pakistan has shown great amount of

talent in the young brigade, Controversies

haven’t really died out as per the team’s

liking.

REVERSE SWEEP

by Anish Venkata and Karthik Atchuta

17-06-1999 a day, clearly etched in every cricket lover’s

memory, a day of strange events, a day unforgettable, a day non-

renewable, a day when cricket was the only winner, a day which

witnessed an epic battle, the day which witnessed the greatest ODI ever.

For there were moments when there were tears and there were moments

in the same game when there was unsheathed joy, in the end half the

world hid its face in its palm for it was heart broken, the other half

opened up beer cans in sheer ecstacy, the world remaining just looked on

in awe of the greatest game ever played.

THE BEST TIE EVER 14

Page 15: CR e-Magazine - 22nd OCT 2011 - Edition 1

15 CR October 22nd | Edition 1

It all began with South Africa in the prime focus who were on the verge of making a

history to win the semi final and progress into the much awaited final that might have given them

their first World Cup title, but fairy tales don't exist.

Australia batting first scored 213 runs, courtesy a vital middle order partnership between Steve

Waugh and Michael Bevan. All looked for the Afrikans until a certain magician, a genius,

crickets very own controversial chid - a certain Shane Keith Warne pulled off the greatest trick

off his hat - 4 quick wickets in less than a space of 30 runs & the Proteas were in a state of

absolute disarray, that sinking feeling which none better than the South Africans themselves

know

. The sublime form of Jacques Kallis and titanically powered Jonty Rhodes lead the recovery

act. The fortunes fluctuated and the advantage creped to either side. Lance Klusener who brought

a potential to wreck havoc with his crimson tinge of slog hits came to the fore in the 45th over

when 38 were needed of the final five. Australia, who only needed either a win or a tie from the

match, looked to be the favorites until Klusener’s cameo put the men in yellow in a menace

leaving 9 runs to win from the final over with only one wicket remaining.

• THE ACTION : FINAL OVER

Damien Fleming with the ball, a billion a trillion, God knows how many eyes glued onto him, and

as he ran in to bowl the very first ball of what was from then on going to be the most remembered

over of the cricket universe, adrenaline fluctuated everywhere.

DO YOU KNOW ?

There have been 25 Tied ODI matches till date

- Aussies featured in 8 ties – South Africa in 3 ties.

- Australia and South Africa had 3 tied encounters.

- All 3 Ties occured between 1999 and 2002 !

South Africa need 5 Runs in 5 Balls

Ball 2 : Fleming to Klusener, DISASTER ! Fleming was smacked into the ropes off consecutive

deliveries, leaving 4 balls to be faced with the scores tied and Proteas needing just one to win, the

Kangaroos from the down under look all but dead and buried. FOUR !!

South Africa need 1 Run in 4 Balls to enter the finals of Cricket World Cup Final for the 1st time!

Steve Waugh brought the field close to the batsman to deny a single.

Ball 3 : Fleming to Klusener, The third ball went straight to mid-on fielder but Allan Donald was

already half way through and would have been run-out if Darren Lehmann had hit the

stumps. DOT!!

South Africa need 1 Run in 3 Balls

Ball 4 : Fleming to Klusener, ball was pulled down the wicket, Klusener calls for a single , what

followed was the mother of all mix ups – an embarassing moment that could possibly happen in a

cricket match. Klusener ran, Donald didn't, Mark Waugh passes the ball to Fleming, Fleming to

Gilchrist and its a RUN OUT !! And its a TIE !! The woeful miscommunication shattered

millions of hopes of Proteas fans and they were once again left in a situation where the world

started to mutter that word- "Chokers" yet again. Pale and drawn, Klusener never looked back, he

was in disbelief & Donald looked disabled on the ground, the Ozzies in a wild celebration.

Australia entered the finals of 1999 WC because they finished higher in the Super 6 Table !

There were times in the past when CL

T-20 matches ended up being one sided affair

but to the astonishment and bringing a

modification to the tournament introducing a

qualifying stage for few teams, it rather

produced close finishes slating a suspenseful

end which also witnessed a Javed Miandad

moment that turned out to be the match of the

edition thus far.

If the end has manifested pleasure of giving

some extra ordinary dosage of cricket adding

the unexpected, the tournament unfortunately

has been a pale shadow inflating the Indian

prominence where the competition was skewed

only in favor of the IPL sides. To orchestrate a

global tournament, it requires an integration of

top club teams and ensuring they come under

the ambit of a global event.

CL T-20: A mere window dressing event ?

Surfacing the growth of the format, the

episodes of Australia- Proteas domestic clash,

India-England or even the encounter between

two IPL sides is just enough to induce dismay

among the smaller nations. The consequences of

emergence of CL T-20 have actually lagged

down the list of priorities of ICC judging the

way cricket has unfolded. To engineer a

tournament and to justify the fairness of the

event title, they ought to have let in the first

class club teams from minnow nations to

compete if not a few teams from the associates‟

trophy.

Letting them in as a part in the tourney outputs

the added advantage of exposing them to the

contest of top billing that gives them a chance

to build for the international challenges ahead

mentioning to the teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland

and to a certain extent Bangladesh who only

play barely adequate matches as opposed

to the fixtures of other international teams.

The event would had some credibility and

generated some interest when it

demanded a worldwide T-20

Tournament at club level rather only

the majority of IPL teams participating

And making it a commercial Indian event.

A qualifying round of teams from

different clubs across the world would

have been more striking in appropriateness. The

international flavor of Champions League with

all provinces, counties, states, islands contending

for the prizes and competition would unquestion-

-ably elevates the interest far above the IPL.

If that was how the teams were finalized, the

composition of teams is only a whip when

there was no reason why both English teams

had to play thequalifiers. The math-

-ematics behind it still

seems alien science.

It‟s so saddening for

non-Indian teams it

does not mandate any

direct entry to the

league stage despite

being a top seeded team at their own domestic

level. Such condition would be absolutely fatal

to the theory of justifying the event title making

the tournament prone to a fateful error. On a

sad note, Auckland Aces and Ruhunu Eleven had

to sustain embarrassment going through a

qualification process although being the

championship winning club teams when majority

of the stake belonged to India and Cricket

Australia and South Africa sharing the equal

billing at the table.

The event would had some credibility

and generated some interest when it

demanded a worldwide T-20 tournament at

club level rather only the majority of IPL

teams participating and making it a

commercial Indian event.

there were 4 IPL teams in the

league stage giving more probability for at

least one Indian team to reach the finals.

Indeed there were two IPL teams in the finals

and insured that the TV ratings snared. The

teams also had the unconditional precedence

as player‟s preferred IPL franchisees over

home teams for extra millions of bucks. NSW

Blues lost Doug Bollinger, Brett Lee and Brad

Haddin which cost them most in the semi-final.

The turnaround for

Trinidad & Tobago would

have been even more

different if at all they had

Dwayne Bravo and Kieron

Pollard in their line-up.

From the next year with the format diversifying by

breaking the fringes and resulting in many more

club teams by the emergence of BBL and SLPL, the

player‟s conflict in making a selection only comes

down to the profitability of the franchisees giving

the outlook of monetary benefits to the owners. In

the process, the development of smaller teams are

being discounted and as most of the test matches

to the minnow teams curbed in the FTP‟s, the big

nations aren‟t doing any bit to boost the cricketing

economy for the minnow sides where CL T20 only

looks like a farce in its current form.

The IPL franchisee had

distinctly emerged the run away winners

all through the tournament. To stack the odds,

A LOOK IN TO THE FUTURE OF CRICKET

Some believe that Test Cricket is at its end, with

no hopes of revival. Sadly, others are just too

immersed in T20 cricket to even think about

what lies ahead for Test Cricket.

The numbers of Purists are on a fall and T20 is the commerce of cricket. T20 is in fact

what today‟s life is; fast paced, reckless & energetic but somewhat directionless. The fact that IPL4

was slated so close to World Cup 2011 meant either of the two things:

BCCI didn‟t really think India could lift the World Cup

BCCI felt that instead of watching a victory parade at the ground, viewers would prefer watch

Suresh Raina bowl out Virat Kohli (the two young heroes from the victorious Indian Side)

So, I wonder what the future really holds. Will the Test Cricket end up as a format of past? Will we

see another Dravid or a Laxman ?

Here is what I think could happen. I firmly believe that Test Cricket is largely dependent on 3 countries and how they fare. Namely:

Australia, England & India.

India has perhaps which still shows a decent reaction to tests. However, things do not look good for

India. They lack serious bench strength in pace bowling. The spin department has known faces such

as Piyush Chawla, R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha but all of

them have looked inadequate for Tests.

CR October 22nd | Edition 1

Powered by:

Page 30: CR e-Magazine - 22nd OCT 2011 - Edition 1

The fact that the young Indian Batsmen didn‟t look comfortable against good quality pace attacks.

Make no mistake, India is one of the best One day sides and things look good for Subcontinent

Conditions. But without Dravid, Sachin, Laxman & Zaheer, who will soon retire, it doesn‟t look good

for them in conditions like England, Australia.

With the next three T20 world cups scheduled in Subcontinent, the message from ICC is clear. They

would enjoy raking in all the T20 Hoopla. The pitches will be dead and it is highly likely that even

Mohali, the greenest pitch in India, will soon become a batting paradise.

AUSTRALIA and ENGLAND England- Australia Tours are most looked for Ashes Test Series and the sides have no love lost

between them!!

England look perhaps the strongest teams, they are

truly the team to beat in Tests. Their attack is a perfect

example of how an attack should look like and while

Indians might not agree to this, Swan is perhaps, the

best spinner in the world. With players such as

Jonathan Trott, Cook and Kevin, it looks like they could

hold the number 1 slot for a long time. They have a

good bench strength and with English policy of

allowing players from countries such as Ireland and

South Africa, getting talented players might not be the

concern for them in the coming Future!

Australia have a high

amount of talent

coming in, The system

has shown its rewards

and once worried

about the

performance, Australia

showed their young

blood in Sri lanka and

with their T20 players

being in high demand,

there is no dearth of

talent for them.

Nazi Cricket # By Umid Kumar Dey

Akhtar is a moron… Out of the game for a while and want some attention? Want the media to be talking about to 24/7? Well, here is

the simplest way to do it: write a lot of non-sense and moronic stuffs in a book (which is your „autobiography‟) and

publish it …BANG! You are done. Media storm at you, everyone is talking about you and you are back in the

limelight.

That is exactly what Shoaib Akhtar did. The once-upon-a-time fastest bowler in the World published his

autobiography named 'Controversially Yours‟ and took the cricketing world by storm. In his book, overstating that

Sachin was scared of him – it was something which he obviously wrote to sell his book.

But still it sounded moronic.

"Ahh.. **** off." | Shoaib says Sachin scared of him.

His 967846m run-up could scare the s**t out of this writer - this writer himself is

a fast bowler, but is s**t scared of facing fast bowlers- saying that

Sachin was scared of his fast bowling is like saying Shahid Afridi‟s mental

state is absolutely perfect.

Talking about being scared, when was the last time Sachin tied a sling in his

hand to chicken out of batting when India was facing their rival team ....

Remember something Shoaib ?

Perhaps he has forgotten the innings Sachin played against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup where Sachin

absolutely hammered Shoaib all over the Centurion Park. Time to see that match again, Shoaib.

Oh, Shahid Afridi has taken back retirement? I read that news on a random site, so I thought it's coming from my

archives.

Debut then retire, come back from retirement again, make/do controversial comments/

things, then retire, make/do controversial comments/things, come back from retirement

again, make/do controversial comments/things, again retire and make/do controversial

comments/things... keep this chain of process for 56456 times and still if you think you

don‟t need a psychiatrist then you need a psychiatrist just for that.

He is so versatile that it takes him seconds before turning into a whining 8 year old kid

from a mature Cricketer. Recently, he solely in his own senses asserted that Sachin REALLY

feared Akthar and then the very next day he stands before media claiming to be Sachin

fan.

His brain is perhaps more unstable than Carlos Tevez – the Footballer equivalent of Shahid Afridi who refused to

come on the pitch and play when his manager asked him to.Shahid Afridi could really be a good joker – not that he

is not one now but that would be his best full-time job as he makes a lot of people laugh their nuts off. Hats off, sir.

Shahid Afridi needs a psychiatrist …

NOTE: This column has been written for the sole purpose of humor and if you take it otherwise:

A) Humour glands in your body are asleep

B) You are an Idiot.

India and England are home ground bullies ....

There is a saying that in your own area even a rat becomes a tiger. What better real-life interpretation of

that can one get other than this India tour of England and England tour of India? None.

This coloumn thinks that BCCI should have named this ongoing

India-England series as 'You owned our a**es, now it is time to

own yours' Series. All of a sudden, the people have gone to 'this

is how WORLD CHAMPIONS play!' from 'this Indian team has no

future without Sachin, it is s**t'. Those people might well have

had gotten their pants wet after seeing India's performances

against England and so did the England Cricket Team's fans but

seriously, both these teams are like wannabe gangsters who are

kings of their own 'hoods'.

When players like Kohli

are compared to Sachin, you know that Cricket is dying ....

When this writer saw Jonty Rhodes' comments that Virat

could match Sachin it put up a sly grin on its face thinking, 'ahh,

Jonty is going to get some stick here from Sachin fans'. But when this writer saw the reactions of some fans on Jonty's

comments it laughed so much that it could feel its pee coming out of its .... never mind.

Virat Kohli still has a lot to prove before someone could make that statement. His ODI records are fantastic but his

test, albeit fresh, stats are just a bit better than Munaf Patel's batting average in tests.

Virat may be... may ...become as good as Sachin and make this writer look like a moron but comparing him with

Sachin NOW is like trying to make a 3 days old baby walk. Any team will only wish to have players like Sachin in

their team over Virat. And by rarest of chances, if Virat somehow manages to get close to Sachin's records-

Tendulkar would win a F1 Grand Prix by that time which will be making more sensation than Kohli surpassing Sachin

CRICKET NUMERO Suresh Raina‟s 42 ball pair is the longest by a batsman in the top-6 batting

order in any international cricket match. The previous record was held by

Rajin Saleh, Bangladeshi batsman, who had a pair (out for duck in both

innings of a Test match) that was spread over 32 balls in a test match.

You will be taking your role very seriously come these two

weeks and that will automatically solve most problems. But just seriousness is not enough,

you will have to sweat it out in the nets. You may also make it big with respect to your

team contract.

Opportunities will come out of the blue when you least

expect it. If you are not in the team you may get a sudden call. This is the time to grab

it and make sure you don't let go of you chance.

There will be an inclination to break free. Be careful of

what you say, or what you do, even if you think things aren't looking too good for you.

This is the time to keep your calm and hope for the best. For batsmen, patience is the

key.

On the field you are going to be a ball magnet. If you

make your mind to overcome your problems, you might just pull off a stunner. You will

deliver when your team needs you and with time you will get so used to the pressure

situation, that you will actually enjoy whacking the ball.

With a willingness to learn, you will find a suitable cricket

guru, possibly bond well with the coach or a senior player. You might start looking up to

some people. You will do well with the selectors and captains this fortnight.

You will be aggressive and your aggression will boost the

entire team. You will gamble and you will pull it off. But don't over do the chance thing,

you never know when you run outta luck !!

by Bandar Baba

Page 37: CR e-Magazine - 22nd OCT 2011 - Edition 1

Libra : Sep 21 – Oct 20 At times you will feel drained. If you are a batsmen you

might keep finding the fielders. So instead of letting the ball go, try hitting it to the

outfielders to get the singles. Do not let things like run outs or a catch drop bother you.

Scorpio : Oct 21 – Nov 20 If you are a cricketer, you might want to tie the knot in this

fortnight. Apart from that you will get a lot of good advice from your teammates and

seniors, be sure to make a good note of them.

Sagittarius : Nov 21 – Dec 20

Capricorn : Dec 21 – Jan 19

Aquarius : Jan 20 – Feb 18

Pisces : Feb 19 – Mar 20

As a captain, coach, selector or a player some of your

plans may drastically backfire. Stick to the basics and don't let pressure get the better

of you. Don't try to be too cheeky or in too much of a hurry, calmness will see you

through.

Some big partnerships are in the reckoning. Trust your

partner when he calls for that quick single and you might be in for something bigg !! be

uninhibited and attack, you have a great 14 days up for you !

You will be smitten by positivity and most of it will rub off

on your skills this fortnight. You will get opportunities to take your team through a few

times. Your team mates will look up to you for solutions. But be careful, don't overdo

yourself. Exertion can lead to dangerous outcomes.

This fortnight you will be relaxed, going will be mostly

easy. You can try out some new batting combos or some new bowlers if you are the

captain or the coach. As a player you should try out your new shots or that slower ball

you were trying to master.

we do !!

?

What if James Bond played Cricket ?

Doesn't he already ? The tall guy from New Zealand who kept getting injured,

naaaaaah that was Shane Bond not good ol Jamie . Ooooh !! you know what ? His

jersey number would have been 007, awright you guessed this was coming, didn't ya ?

• Instead of the license to kill he would probably have the license to bowl more than

one bouncers an over or maybe a license to spill, who knows !

• He would play for England – after all he is from the British Secret agency and

whenever he would walk out, there would be stunned silence in the stadium except for

the familiar old tune ting tiding .... !!

• But the question which bothers me is would he actually play cricket, or disguise

himself as a water boy, bat boy, great scotts maybe even like a coach and enter into

team meetings of different countries to find out their strategies to topple England from

their supreme position in world cricket. Hahaha, am sorry the supreme position in world

cricket part just made me laugh.

• Anyway Bond and cricket would mean a lot of action, a lot of drama and hell yeah

a lot of smoking hot babes !! There would be more cars, the bats would have ball

detectors and the balls would have wicket sensors !!

• And there would be more girls and James would keep playing over decades, surpass

Sachin in terms of runs and Shahid Afridi in terms of staying 19 for the longest period

of time. And then there would be more stunning smoking sensuous babes !!
