DOES KOEPPEN ENJOY SALT LAKE CITY?

The narrator describes Salt Lake City as a city he didn’t like.

He can’t stand the unbearable heat and it makes his time in Salt Lake City miserable.

The strictness of the city depressed him.

EUROPEAN IMAGERY/GEOGRAPHY

The narrator doesn’t utilize European imagery or geography at all compared to other cities where he does it frequently.

This is likely because Salt Lake City is a unique city dissimilar to European environments, and he doesn’t enjoy his time there.

SALT LAKE CITY CULTURE/LIFESTYLE

The city is backwards compared to the progressivism of New York or Europe.

Salt Lake City shows the diversity in America as there are varying demographics at play here.

The city is very religious and predominantly Mormon.

Salt Lake City is a clear contrast for the German people compared to European countries. It’s something new that they’ve never seen before.
