Two Decades of Diamonds

In honor of marking the 20th year of Forty Under 40, Crain’s reached out to the 800 alumni in an effort to compile a directory of the distinguished recipients.

The fi rst class was profi led in 1991, when none of the honorees had a Facebook page or a Twitter account. No one had smart phone constantly reminding them of work to be done.

In Cleveland, there was no Rock Hall, and the thought of the Browns playing anywhere other than Municipal Stadium, let alone Baltimore, would have been inconceivable. If you had tried to predict the Indians would play in not one, but two, World Series in the 1990s, you’d have been laughed out of any of the watering holes in the Flats. (Remember the Flats? If you don’t, they’re coming back.)

No one in that fi rst class had even heard of LeBron James, who was only 7 years old.

This directory boasts not only change agents in our community but many people who have changed positions and gone on to change the community in which they live and work. We hope you enjoy what we believe is a valuable reference guide.

Rosetta, the nation’s largest independent interactive agency, is transforming 80,000 square feet of the former National City building to meet the needs of their 400 person Cleveland team.

The agency sought out a space that would foster collaboration among its interdisciplinary teams and act as a central hub and headquarters to its offices in several other cities.

One of the deciding factors in the selection of Downtown was the firm’s desire to

satisfy its workforce of young creative professionals, many of whom will be living Downtown and will seek to extend the conversations of the work day to the bars and restaurants on East 4th street below.
