June Meeting - Thank you to all who contributed backpacks and school supplies for our partnerKaleidoscope during our June meeting. We collected 16 backpack kits and handful of schoolsupplies plus generous members donated $600. Amazing! Ticia Fiorito spoke to us to sharemore about their important mission. We will have more opportunities to support Kaleidoscopelater in Nov/Dec when we “wrap” up the year. Keep your eyes on our website for this fun activity! Chicago Run is quiet for the summer but we are looking at supporting them on August 26 for a5K at Montrose Harbor. They are looking for cheering squads and running buddies to run withthe kids. Plenty of time to start training now! Alex Landberg from Chicago Run will be coming toour November 15 member meeting for a brief presentation and we will sponsor a collection ofrunning gear for the kids. More details to come – keep your eyes on the website. There are many opportunities to support our charities during the year. Keep your eyes open foremail blasts and always be sure to check the website. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Throughout my career as a Senior GlobalMobility Consultant, I have always beeninvolved in various projects within mycompany. Especially speaking in front ofcrowds has always been the most terrifyingthought for me. I have noticed all the confidentspeakers in those roles around me andrepeatedly asked myself: Are you born a“confident speaker” or what does it take toactually learn that skill?

My participation with CRC naturally providedme with two main answers to a long-troubling

question “what does it take”?

For one it is opportunityopportunity: The more youpractice, engage, contribute, make mistakes, learn, participate the better you get – it is aseasy as that! And what better of a frameworkto “practice” those skills can you have thanbecome part of this amazing network!

And that brings me to point 2: Havingpartners, colleagues, and friends in yournetwork that fully support you and have all theconfidenceconfidence in you before you even have ityourself!

This is why it is close to my heart to encouragemy peer corporates to join the CorporateRelocation Council of Chicago as I see howmuch I have grown by being and remainingpart of it.

Your own engagement will bring your CRCexperience to a different level hence spreadthe message and stay engaged!

Save the Date! Plan to join usSeptember 5th for our next

At the June meeting, CRC awarded Manit Kaushal with our annual scholarship. Manit has beenliving in the States as he completed his high school education here, and he impressed us all withhis insightfulness and good spirit. An excerpt from his essay included below is just one of manyobservations he has made that really resonated with our industry:

"Soon I realized that US culture was more about allowing differences, innovation, and private enterprise. At times I felt that I was shocked more by

Indian stereotypes than by the true cultural differences. "
