F.A.Q.’s: How to answer common “milking” questions people have such as “How much is your program” without scaring them off with price.

 

 1. How much do you charge or how much is your

program? I’ve got a few different program options, all the prices are on my website… but really the first step is to set up the initial consultation. It’s free. You have everything to gain, nothing to lose here. I guarantee you are going to come away with at LEAST-ONE-MAJOR- INSIGHT into how you can . (Insert benefit that’s related to topic of your lecture.)

     

2. What does your program include? We have several program options. Each one has a unique step-by-step curriculum that delivers a specific result. It depends on which program is the best fit for your needs. Everyone starts with the initial consult. From there we’ll figure out what MUST happen for you to succeed. Did you give me your contact info so we can get you on the schedule?

     

3. I gained 20 lbs in the past year, I only eat 1300 calories a day and exercise constantly, what am I doing wrong?

 Perhaps it’s about a paradigm shift. The old paradigm of eat less, exercise more is outdated. It works well for a little while but what most people don’t realize is that slimming down is not just about WHAT you eat, but HOW you eat. Bonus Tips!      What happens if I forget what to say? (Fear of embarrassment.)

1. Know that your audience WANTS you to succeed. They are not waiting for you to screw up. Forgetting your train of thought is OKAY.

2. Do a paired share so you can re-group. 3. Ask the audience what they think. People love to hear

themselves talk, so indulge them! 4. Pause. Take a deep breath and calmly find your place. Silence

does not have to be awkward. Silence is more professional than saying “um.”

5. Admit you lost your train of thought, laugh it off and continue with what makes sense next. If you were trying to make an important point will come back to you.

6. Run away. (JUST KIDDING.)

My bag of tricks for prepping like the pro's so you can speak without reading from your notes.

   

1. Practice, practice, practice. Here’s the secret: You MUST practice out loud. Practicing silently is not even half as effective as practicing out loud. Carry portions of your talk in your pocket or purse. Group 2 sentences together at a time. Mouth the words over and over again throughout the day, anytime you have “dead time.”

 “Dead time” is when you are waiting in line, stuck in traffic, on hold on the phone, while you make your breakfast, while you are in the shower. When you practice out loud you actually condition your face muscles and your mouth to produce those words. You also start to internalize the information, so when you speak you sound natural rather than rehearsed.  

2. Incorporate portions of talk into regular conversation. Get genuinely excited about your talk. Find the fact or piece of information that is truly fascinating to you and share it with someone else socially. Do this with one new piece of your talk per day leading up to the live lecture.

 

 3. Record and listen to yourself so you can hear how you flow

and continue to learn your content.  

4. Choose 3 signature topics for the next 12 months. Instead of trying to be a diverse speaker who speaks about everything (“Jill of all trades, master of none”), try being the go-to expert on a few select specialty topics. Do talks everywhere you can on these 3 topics. After a few months you will find yourself speaking without notes.
