WINDOWS 8 Introduction and Simple ReviewBefore we start with the process above as seen on the title, many of us, including me, envied

apple for its adhoc connection, how it is easily created and your iphone can easily connect

and get access to the inet. There are some rumors, that some android devices cant see the

apples created adhoc networksomehow it is way hidden, for some devices, we can easily

connect, but the catch there is, we cant have the access to its internet. B ut this wont let us

stop from looking for ways to have it in our system. This will not let us down but will challenge us

to do and make it better. Let us make it the other way around, and let apple get envied also

with our adhoc connection. But, before we start, let me give you a simple introduction and

simple review on Windows 8 Operating System. We will not review all of its features, I will give

you the reviews, only, the ones that concerns me. And a little bit related to our network

    creation.

A new Operating systemwhich was introduced by Microsoft in the latter year of 2012. It was

an excellent work and a migration operating system tools. It supports the upgrade from

Microsoft windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7 Operating system.

    DEVICE DRIVERS

Unlike MSXP, VISTA and W7, where you have to use some of the devices cd software installer,

Windows 8 has a built in drivers that supports mostly of the devices in the markets today. Be it

USB ports, external storage HDD and flash drives, printers, CD/DVD writers (external), USB hubs,

etc. Some of the drivers can easily be downloaded by the system itself through windows

update. It supports USB 3.0 on newly manufactured laptops and desktop pcs. But, however,

there is still an issue when it comes to USB ports, 3.0 USB ports cant support those devices using

a 2.0 and below version of USBs. Whether they are cables, or hubs, etc. Somehow, rumor says,

that this can be overcome by using a 3.0 USB cables and hubs that supports connection on

USB 2.0 and below. But with a fully packed device drivers, we can however say, it was worth

upgrading. We can say that Microsoft has improved a lot on their operating system. But dontrely too much on this review, sometimes, you will still be needing that old cd software with you.

SECURITYThe same as Windows 7 Operating System, by default, Windows Defenderis already enabled,

from the start of configuration of Users through the rest of operation. Of course, you wouldnt

stop from there, you can disableyour windows defender and install your preferred anti-virus

software. There is not much changes when it comes to firewall, firewall is the same as previous.

The only changes I have noticed was its users interface.

SCREEN/DISPLAY OPERATIONThis operating system supports, Touch and Non-touch panel/screen. You can use your mouse,

keyboard like the same as before. But of course, it is different from touch. Touch is where you

can swipe it here, swipe it there, swipe above and downward, left and right. Non-touch is a

little bit awkward, me, personally, it is kind of confusing to me, since I am starting to understand

the operation of it. But, I found out that, it is much simpler if you are using an Ubuntu operating

system. Though it is different when it comes to interface, side bar positions and location, but,

still similar on operation. And it is easier for a Linux users or Ubuntu users to migrate to Windows

8 because of its way of operation.

USER INTERFACE & APPS NAVIGATIONWith its Metro UI, we can say that it is however an excellent interface. However, the operation

doesnt really make sense for an Ubuntu Userslike yours truly. Though I am restarting again to

use Ubuntu, I somehow find it easy to navigate on Ubuntu rather than that of the metro. It really

does not make any sense, if you want to see all your applications, you have to move your

mouse to the top left cornerandright clickand below you will see a subtask bar which was

written all apps. Dont get me wrong on this, we are talking about a non-touchpanel/display/screen here. Move your cursor to the top rightandright click it, youll see the

side bar that consist mostly of its settings, control panel, search, share, devices and start menu,

etc. I dont have any idea why they have to do this when they can put everything together in

one place, one side bar, or yet again, two (2) sidebars. And yet again, they overcome this

awkwardness when they put a shortcut in the Metro UI for the Desktop. Yet again, it is a little

bit of not right for me, why? It is because, if you want to introduce your USER INTERFACE, then

let the people be used to your new interface and not the old interface they were previously

using. Why? Again, because people will tend to use the previous interface that than of the

new one. But, if this is a consideration that Microsoft has done, then a tap on the back to sayThank You for giving us an option to go back to the old fashioned Interface. So, those people

who are like me, feeling a little not comfortable with its apps navigation, UI, go ahead, click

that desktopand start putting a shortcut of your applications there.

USER SETTINGS AND SYNCINGIt seems that Windows 8 is following the operation of Android Phones. Though for some, they

will tell me, who the F*** are you, telling us that it is like an android operating system! Well, I

wont tell the same to you, or badmouth you just because of an operating system review. I

mean, Grow up guys, this is just a review, in the end, you will be the one using and doing all

these operations and navigations kind of stuff, not me. I have my own way to do it. So stop

yelling at me and telling me something that minors should not hear about. Be careful not to

give them an idea of what is the other dark side of life. So shove off, and let me continue. All

right, hmmn, where are we, ohh, USER SETTINGS. Alright, USER SETTINGS, this is not so much

good after all, you cant actually configure much on the user settings, if you dont sign up with

a Microsoft account. So go ahead, use your Gmail accountif you have one, or use a yahoo

accountif it fits you, but dont forget to sign up first. Once you have done that, Microsoft will

give you a confirmation that your account is now activated, alright, you will also noticed that

your local account is change to Microsoft account. From that point, you can only change the

settings on your USER account, your photo/images, your preferred color and background

images, etc. SYNCING yes, Microsoft has also given you a way to sync every settings you

have on your pc provided you are logged on to your Microsoft account. Once you are logged

on, it will automatically sync your PC settings. And before I forgot, from the moment your

account is activated, you will be have a 7 GBcapacity of cloud storage compliments of

MicrosoftSkyDrive. So from now on, within each and every reformatting you done to your pc,

once you logged on to your Microsoft account, everything will be synced to Microsoft. Isnt it

familiar? Hmmnn, I have heard and personally know the same process I have been doing since

my device became Android? And this is an excellent proof that windows 8 was not really done

for desktop and laptops but for tablets and mobile devices. Hey, before you get upset, you

can also download SkyDrive from Google Play Store. Oh, what do you know? I got one for my

note 2. Here is your link https://play.google.com/store/search?q=skydrive+microsoft&c=apps

So this is it, a simple review to let you know the pros and cons of Windows 8. Please, dont

badmouth me again, let me tell you again, that these are based on my own review only and

not from a professional blogger like you. So if you want, write your OWN REVIEW too.

    Have a nice day.

A simple introduction to ADHOC NETWORK.

    WHAT IS ADHOC?

A wireless ad hoc network is a decentralized type ofwireless network.[1]The network isad

hocbecause it does not rely on a preexisting infrastructure, such asroutersin wired networks

oraccess pointsin managed (infrastructure) wireless networks. Instead,

eachnodeparticipates in routing by forwarding data for other nodes, so the determination of

which nodes forward data is made dynamically on the basis of network connectivity. In

addition to the classicrouting,ad hoc networks can usefloodingfor forwarding the data.

An ad hoc network typically refers to any set of networks where all devices have equal status

on a network and are free to associate with any other ad hoc network device in link range.

Ad hoc network often refers to a mode of operation ofIEEE 802.11wireless networks.

It also refers to a network device's ability to maintain link status information for any number of

devices in a 1-link (aka "hop") range, and thus, this is most often aLayer 2activity. Because this

is only a Layer 2 activity, ad hoc networks alone may not support a routeable IP network

    environment without additionalLayer 2orLayer 3capabilities.

The earliest wireless ad hoc networks were the "packet radio"networks (PRNETs) from the 1970s,

    sponsored byDARPAafter theALOHAnetproject.

Courtesy of WIKIPEDIA. To learn more about it follow the link below.

And also, just to add, from Latin, adhoc means for this purpose. And so for this purpose, we

will create an adhoc from our windows 8 operating system and we will share it to our android

    phone.

WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW1. We dont need to be rooted to do this kind of weird things2. We dont need to have an expensive smartphone to have this created and shared.3. That we have a working pc/laptop, android phone/device, and a wifi/wireless antenna

(USB preferred), and a working lan network.

    4. That this is not expensive, difficult or hard to do, but simple and easy.5. That we are currently having a windows 8 operating system.6. That because it is Windows 8, it really doesnt support the creation of AdHoc network.7. That we are going to make it possible at least to create and share it to our android

    devices.

    8. That we could always smile in each and every failure and success we have.9. That please spare me of badmouthing and F words if this doesnt work on you.Lol.

STEPS ON CREATING ADHOC NETWORKA. INSTALLING YOUR WIFI ANTENNA OR WIRELESS ANTENNA (USB PLUG AND PLAY WIRELESS

    DB ANTENNA)

    1. Go ahead and plug your USB plug and play ready external wireless antenna.2. Let windows install the drivers for you through windows update. If you are impatient

and cant wait, go ahead and install the cd software device driver and let your

system recognize the wireless db antenna

    3. You will notice if it is installed, it will appear on your devices and printers in the controlpanel settings. Or you can check it to your network and sharing settings.

    B. CHECKING WIRELESS DB IF IT SUPPORTS ADHOC NETWORKS.1. Now, this metro ui will not give us a good and smooth operation and navigation, go

ahead and click the desktop shortcut on your metro UI.

    2. Press windows keys + x keys to give you the selection for accessories, selectcommand prompt (Admin).

    3. Remember we are going to check if our wireless db antenna or wifi can supportADHOC NETWORK.

    FIGURE 1.

    4. Since your Command Prompt already opened and running as administrator, nowtype the following lines C:\Windows\system32>netsh wlan show drivers on your

command prompt. As what you can see on the attached image. (FIGURE 1).

    5. It will give you the result as what you seen in the attached image. Hosted network isour ADHOC NETWORK, and thus, it is supported.

    C. TYPING THE COMMAND LINE AND CREATING OUR ADHOC NETWORK.1. Since we know that our wifi antenna/wifi can support ADHOC NETWORK, we can

now create it. By typing the following C:\Windows\system32>netsh wlan set

hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=your preferred namewithout the quote

key=your preferred keywithout the quote. A successful command will give you

the following result as the one you can see on figure 2.

    FIGURE 2

I preferred my ssid as adhocnetwork , make it yours unique.

    D. STARTING YOUR HOSTEDNETWORK (ADHOC NETWORK1. On your command prompt, type the following command

C:\Windows\system32>netsh wlan start hostednetwork as you can see on FIGURE

    3. Yellow line means successful command

    FIGURE 3

Now, we already created our ADHOC NETWORK. Wait, I heard somebodys reacted. Yes

    what is that?

Q: how can we know that it is already created? Any proof?
